Most people giving any advice don't know what they are talking about. A lot of people delude themselves, or think they are right, they overextend their knowledge on a subject, especially when they've decided they want the role of expert. They get away doing this because the rest of us needing the advice by definition don't know enough to sort correct from incorrect. This means a lot of self-styled experts can survive on confidence alone rather than actual correct knowledge. Finding the actual experts with correct advice is like finding needles in haystacks. It's harder also because a lot of true experts aren't loud about it, as they were not driven by wanting to appear to be an expert, but a desire to understand the subject for themselves.
