Wow just seeing this out of the box ru-vid.comUgkxQr1yd4Zc6qJF-scTB6Zb9dQbVpviuRxB recommend I have yet to fish with this set up, but based on the first hands on appeal, I can tell this is going to change the way i pack and carry to a whole new level. If you fish like i do, you know the smaller and less stuff the better. I’ve added a photo of just some of my gear so you can see how serious i am about fishing.
great stuff, guys. love the release too, the fish never leave the water. gotta love the north. I used to live in the Yukon, and go back every couple years for fishing trips.
The best lure for Lake Trout. Us fisherman in Reindeer Lake, Northern Saskatchewan favour the flatfish lure, we reel in monsters all summer with them. The best feeling when you have a monster hooked on
the guy that created the original Flatfish (charles Helin) was adamant about NOT using snap swivels with the lure. Tie direct to the swing link, and have a swivel up the line. Spoonplugging with not spoonplugs - I like it. Im thinking about adding some split wire insulation onthe lip to protect it from banging the rocks. Or maybe Ill just get some spoonplugs. haha I did miss why you wanted to use a mono leader..... Thanks for the vid
Thanks for watching and this was an older video. As for the lip of the bill, I would not add anything, this is just me. You want it to hit hard to deflect. The better crankbaits have massive damage to the lips. If anything I would add a metal lip but not too heavy to change action, but to create a louder crack in the water. Deep tones underwater out produce :). As for the mono leader, lake trout have delicate gills. I use mono leader incase the trout rolls during the fight and the line touches the gills. If braid touches the gills, it is like a razor blade and they bleed bad. PS, the old spoon plugs work really good!
This had to be about as close to maximum explanation of what was happening as I have seen in this type of video. Thanks for the excellent communication. The only thing missing was time of year and water temperature. I assume maybe early spring, due to relatively shallow fish presence, didn't notice any leaf coloring. But, anyway, Well done!!!!!!!!
You said barbless? at 7:00 Dereks Flatfish has barbs just saying, Great video none the less and mad props for caring about those awesome trout, and teaching me a new way to troll for em
curious how well planner boards would work up there. Hitting rock might not work as well though but I could see it being good on them calm days regardless.
Tried that before and then people get mad that I do not put enough info in videos LOL. The best I can do is have viewers pause that section and see everything. This helps so you do not miss anything. Hope this helps and thanks for watching
