Gotta have a backing plate… washer won’t work, they’ll mushroom out… Ask me how I know.
@kensleylin

Will 1/4 do the job? Or we better with 3/8 or even 1/2? Thanks
@ericdavi1231
@ericdavi1231 7 месяцев назад
@@kensleylin atleast 1/2 inch. I actually bought too much by mistake and stacked them so I’ve got 1 inch under it now.

@@kensleylin I’ve also got the 96 inch 36 volt model attached to a 30 Intrepid. A smaller set up might not require as much

Highly recommend a backing plate on the underside of hull. Itll help distribute the weight of motor more evenly which will help prevent deck flex and damage. Use a piece thats same size, either 1/2" starboard for temporary or 1/4" stainless steel plate for a permanent backing. If it were a smaller boat like 17-19ft and shorter trolling motor shaft length, the 1/2" starboard would more than likely be good permanent backing material.

Why didn’t you bevel the holes after you drilled them so it doesn’t crack?

Boy that’s going to be a lot of fun when that slide gets salted and corroded!

Guys this is beyond excellent and I have a quick question for you. I want to mount this on the back of my boat and I'm determined to do so because I don't want it in the front. If you were installing it on the back, what would you be concerned about?

like that sliding device, It needs a care of salt.(lik a greasing) It's good job! have a nice day! ps. There are many people used like that sliding device in Korea. but I think It is weak....specially up and down momentum....(minnkota 87" 112lb...) I hope it is strong!!

Put that slide on without a backing plate. Does not appear to slide easily. It is going to slide even less after season of salt water use. Not meant as criticism since i do not have any idea how should mount the trolling motor on that boat. However that would not be it. Unless customer said to do that.

Nice install. We installed one on our Skiff back in 2020. It was a smaller version since our motor is Riptide 80#, 60" shaft. Living in FL, we use it in saltwater and rinse it off after use. Still works like it did on day 1. Speaking from experience, I don't think you will have to worry about the corrosion and its functionality. We are still happy with it 3 years later. Good choice for that boat.

Do you need one of the Stabilizer/Shock Absorber Mounts for the head while running with a shaft that long? Just curious.
@BornAgainBoating

Yes, you definitely need something to lock down the head of the trolling motor on these longer ones!
