FDR was a prick. He put Japanese Americans into concentration camps in America during WW2. In 1933 when reports of Nazi violence against Jews was reaching America, he refused to condemn Nazi attacks on Jews and instead invited Hjalmar Schacht into the White house instead, trying to pursue friendly relations with Germany and to top it all of he never once ordered the bombing of any of the concentration camps like Auschwitz that were killing people. Refused Jewish refugees entry into America as well and didn't meet Jessie Owens.

Back when Gmod servers were still popular, I actually played in the 1942 servers, and managed to get elected as Hitler, so my first decree as Hitler is that everyone, including myself talk in a gay stereotypical german accent, and everyone refereed to each other as Hans. It ended as you expected, confusion, rebellions, and Countless of Hans died in the war.

i once knew a guy who had at least 1000+ hours on a server like this, he would play it all day everyday and genuinely loved pretending he was a nazi officer, about 5 or so years passed and at that point i had moved on with my life and i go back to check on him and he was still there, still playing the same fucking server doing the same RP, i will never understand these people

Military RP is soo much better, I remember back in the days a friend hosted a Soviet/German 1943 Military RP server, the map was in a Russian city and the roleplay focused on the Military so no time for edgy bullshit even when playing the Germans, it was actually fun. Well that was in 2016/2017 I guess the community changed soo much since then. (also it wasn't full of edgy anglos))

You know, if someone is playing a nazi in a WW2 setting, then there's nothing wrong with that because there needs to be people on both sides. If someone is going to a server which is exclusive the Nazis because they want to role-playing as one and take it very seriously, then that's an entirely different ball game.

People do live reenactments of WW2 in Europe all the time, though. Surprisingly, some people find it fun to dress up and pretend to be Nazis. Difference between them and actual Nazis however is that they are usually aware that racism is not a good thing, and don't let that leak into their "out of character" life.

While as a Jew I can find this funny, it's also concerning because those kinds of people do exist, especially in Europe nowadays. Antisemitism is on the rise again, and it's worrisome to my family and I. America has a few hateful overtones to Jews too I'll grant you, but it doesn't hold a candle to the current UK, Canada or even worse, France. How these people are acting and talking on there is a sick power fantasy that they probably would gladly act out in reality if it was possible/they had a chance to. @@unovasfinest2623 Maybe. I honestly don't see too much of a difference, but that's just my opinion. Most of us know what happened was bad, some people just decide to crack jokes as a coping mechanism. It kind of confuses me a little why we are so sensitive about Nazis but just sort of shrug off Stalinism or Maoism, or the Mongol invasion. All of them were terrible, but why is it that we have to place so much importance on one of those over the others?
