It’s makes me very happy that most Trombone Champ videos do not feature someone playing the song perfectly, just their best. It adds to the experience.

@@Abdega as someone who has never played a final fantasy game, but had the plot of the whole series explained to me over a few lunch periods in high school, I love the idea that Cloud has a restraining order against Sephiroth, and Sephiroth’s response is “I will get a sword/trombone long enough to reach you without breaking the restraining order”
Out of context this made me concerned and I watched the video just to see kids playing on an opposite cliff. I don’t know why I didn’t expect them to also have trombones.

The fact that part of the song is a view of him just makes me imagine you being impaled on the trumbone while he plays As your life wastes away he's playing faster and faster

You know, I always thought most songs were funny pretty much only for the first 30 seconds, or when the more nuanced and extreme bits came for the one or two points in such songs. This one just keeps giving, so it's glorious and new the whole way through.
That's right i was waiting for the moment it got boring after the funny but it was just Pleasant to hear and actually awesome. Of course some parts don't transition well in trombone.
Probably because the song is supposed to sound super dramatic so having the main melody on the trombone sounds absolutely ridiculous. That plus the original song goes pretty hard lol
@@Tman2bard I think what they meant was this: there's so many notes on screen (in the flute section at the beginning) that they don't all appear on screen at the same time, and notes need to be unloaded for new ones to appear
This is by far one of the funniest things I have ever seen. I was half expecting Cloud to show up with a comically thick trombone and have a trombone fight with Sephiroth. 11/10
This is such a completely perfect experience. The music obviously, the slightly wonky playing, Sephiroth's sword length trombone, the fact that you make him headbang to his own killer tune... this is actual art.
When I was ten I was rolled into trumphet class. To celebrate learning my first song, I climbed the highest mountain near my school and started TOOTing my lungs out. I then went home to play FF7 on the playstation in my room. This video is the most weirdly nostalgic thing I've ever seen.
So I had no idea about this game's existence til I watched this. Best introduction I could have asked for. Not only is there a trombone game that sounds very silly, it can be modded to make other things sound silly too. I'm so happy rn
holy shit! I was watching my friend trying out a bunch of trombone champ mods back to back last night and I didn't expect the background for this one to be like that at *all*. You totally got me with the fake background at the beginning. there was a moment where I asked him "is this playing a pre-recorded video?" and he moved the mouse up and down to show that it was being rendered in-engine. this is amazing! it was a delight watching it unfold as he played. and the trombone fit over the guitar solo *way* better than it had any right to, lmao. well done!!!

cloud has this giant valve+slide trombone with d and f and G1 attachments and an extra trumpet and tuba bell that comes apart into like 7 normal brass instruments he can play at the same time for solos
It took me this long to figure it out and I love that I realized this. You're a genius! Sephiroth is playing a trombone that looks like a trumpet. It has been known that angels play the trumpet or harp. And angels play the trumpet when they're going to pass judgement onto someone. So this is extremely fitting and appropriate for the One Winged Angel to do.
LMAOOO, I love the details of the background, which includes the characters on the other side and the sephiroth model, especially sephiroth having his trombone matching the sword.
The throw you get from it becoming this whole animated affair is amazing and that it happens within the first 30 seconds shows how fucking wild this mod is.
