We're tracking the latest movements of Tropical Storm Beryl as it approaches the Texas coast. Video in the stream is from Saturday night's 10 p.m. newscast. Here is the video with closed captioning: www.khou.com/video/weather/hu...
Can Lake Livingston Dam handle 10 inches or more of rain? The dam is damaged; and has released water just to do repairs. Is there an additional release of water ongoing or are citizens at risk?
Ok I just procrastinated my work project even more and did some research. Apparently, it's "Burr-el" if it's a male (usually), but "Behr-el" if it's a female. And since the first tropical storm of the season was Alberto this year, and the names alternate between male and female, "Beryl" is actually a "female" hurricane. So in this particular instance, it should be pronounced, "Behr-el." Thanks though for the info because I never would've guessed anyone pronounced this with a Burr!
@@EastmanEditing My wife’s grandmother is Beryl and she has pronounced it Burr-el since the 20’s when she was born. Still say it’s being widely mispronounced.
@@Bikepro4x I'm sure there are individuals who choose to pronounce their names differently, but research shows the majority of females pronounce it Behr-el, so it seems like it's not exactly a mispronunciation since it's widely accepted. 🙂
