Its called first hand sourcing. If you report on something you want to provide as much detail visually as possible. Its not about impressing anyone. Its part of the job.

The US coasts are so bloody vulnerable. It's not the strength of the storm, its how fast it's moving. Never forget that. If it's moving under 10 mph, that's bad.

I guess that the amount of water is important as well and when oceans are getting warmer than the storms will increase as well as the amount of water
