Hurricane Michael hit the same area and the last 48 hours saw it grow to a Cat 5. Debbie at a Cat 3 wouldn't surprise me. Seeing how warm the water is on the coastal shelf of Florida is serious juice for a hurricane. If the eye wall is well developed in the next 24 hours...
Live north of Tampa. Mark once again has kept me in the know for this. This will be my 4th storm season following Mark and he’s never steered me wrong.
The system is sideswiping us right now in the Tampa Bay area (St. Petersburg). Only slight to moderate rain with occasional gusts around 20-30mph. The radar looks terrible, but nothing much is happening. Just looks a bit like a rainy day.
As a 68 yr old Floridian, I know what you are saying. Sometimes the worst radar views don't do much, while some light-colored fringe seems to catch the brunt. Hurricanes have a life of their own & are impossible to totally predict.

I’m in Columbus, Ga. Thankfully we are just forecasted to get rain in 50 percent of the viewing area. It’s also my birthday tomorrow so prayers this stays away. Praying for all of you in Florida and coastal Georgia
I’m in live oak Florida living in a travel trailer small one on a half acre in the woods surrounded by trees I’m staying put . Putting my faith in god and I’m gonna go hug a few trees and hope for the best I have a polaris rzr 1000 for my get away if needed
Those who replied who have no faith hurricane idalia winds here were 111 mph Few trees toppled over only the weak ones Debby or tropical storm winds maybe 75 . I don’t see a need to run n hide in a shelter Thanks for your thoughts and concerns I do have a shelter a giant I mean giant water oak that toppled over last hurricane has a giant stump with a cubby hole carved in it Perfect for me to Tuck in and be safe if I have to I’m Aslo on a hill so no flooding here But getting out could be a problem why if I leave I might not be able to get back So I’m staying put

We prepared for this storm even though the news says it is not going to be much... I have 3 sites that I go on for information Ventusky, Windy and tropical tidbits... Hi, I live in Fort Myers and the local stations are talking about a lot of rotation that's happening. A couple of hours ago they even thought there may have been a tornado on the ground just outside of Arcadia. Thanks for everything you do to keep us safe! You are my go to weatherman. I've watched you for the last two years and also right before hurricane Ian . I love how you don't over hype but when our local meteorologist are being too conservative, you're telling it like it is and you have always been right.
