I would do the same with the "bait" as I did in Alaska with the herring, pickle them in a sweet pickle and can or jar them. Great!! :) I used a "sweet Mediterranean pickle" . It's actually designed for trout, but after jarring several cases they were made for it!!

Up in Wisconsin we used to cast net for SMELT in lake Michigan. Smelt are kind of like giant sardines. Anyway, clean the fish up, bread it then fry it up. Eat the back bones, tail everything. Excellent tasty little treat. Omg that was 60 years ago.

You won't know unless you try cooking them. Here in NJ, we have a saltwater fish called the Sea Robin. Another RU-vidr did a CnC to find out if edible. Said yes and pretty ok. Live and learn.🤔😎

I came home one day and when I opened the door it smelled amazing i seen that she had cooked fish but i was confused since we were out of striper. I asked her what it was she said striper then i remembered it was gizzard shad filets that i had for bait! I grabbed the baking sheet full of perfectly cooked filets and tossed the whole thing in the trash. She looked at me so mad and yelled at me but when i told her what it was she laughed, and said she thought it looked boney

Can you do a video on gear and stuff that people would need if they’re beginners because I’ve never gone fishing though lately I’ve been interested in it and truly do not know what I need as a starter to get going I don’t wanna invest a lot of money so that also is a factor and I can do a lot of research online of course but I’d rather watch it in a RU-vid content because I’m more of a visual.

Fillet them then soak in salt water over night and then smoke till very firm then put in a ziplock with olive oil

XD I am not coming at you man but you gotta stop burning your catch and cook. :D Those striper sandwiches you made were great (legit think about that episode from time to time, you and your dad were loving it). I think shad would be better brined up like sardines or mackrel, imo. Maybe smoke them. Frying I'd pass.
