Brian I am having the same problem on a century 100 wirefeed welder, took it off checked continuity and studied things, but came inside todo more research. Your video does a great job explaining your process, and reasons why. I'm now going to go back down to the shop and give it another look. Just want to say your video taught me a couple things today!
My 211 just did this today in the middle of a project. I was bummed, the 211 has been a great welder for years. Finished my job with the 252. Started searching and bam first video! thank you so much for your time figuring this out and posting a video. I'll try it out tomorrow.
The 5~ vac that you were likely reading was due to the switching frequency of the circuit board and possibly the pwm signal of motor control, the motor is dcv . The diagnosis was very good well done, the relays commonly fail but on from those power transistors and opto isolators
Wow!!! I thought for sure it was going to cost me $500!! I took off the drive motor open the gear case plugged the motor to on of the drill batteries work perfectly...next thing I was like dang its gonna be this curit board thingy..I think I can swap it out I think. Better look on RU-vid before I order anything. First video!!!! We were sooo excited be and the helper jumped up and almost hugged hahaha almost. Worked on the first try!! Thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have a harbor freight welder with the same problem. I smacked the feed motor with a screw driver (lightly) and it started whirring. The more i hit it the more consistent it ran... No idea what was wrong with it.. But i had run a spool of aluminum out of it before it fucjed up. Its basically brand new with one spool runnout of it... Thanks for the " hit it with a screwdriver" advice lol
Wish I would have saw this a long time ago. My Everlast stopped feeding last year, same problem motor not turning. I just do hobby stuff, so I've been using my flux core but I know what I am doing tomorrow. Thanks.
THanks, my machine isn't feeding. I'm hearing the motor when the trigger is pressed but the motor isn't turning. I'll open and make the checks you recommend. Thanks again.
Mine does the same thing here it click but motor drive roller not spinning only when wire and tension job is set .. at a low setting 2 for that matter …. Undo tension and it will spin . 5 mins later it works again almost as if maybe it overheats and stops the drive roller idk at this point it’s a paint because it causes wire problems and have to reset the wire all over again because it causes it to burn at tip
Is there a part# for that relay? I’ve tapped my several times and it won’t run. I did like you did, run power to my motor and it ran. I just don’t hear that relay clicking.
if i want to upgrade cable length from 1.5m to 4m, what other parts should i upgrade too? How about the drive motor, can i use other type of motor, for example rs775 or rs895?
Greetings: 1) Depending on the load characteristics a "battery charger" is, technically, not a true and good DC source. 2) I do not understand why you had difficulty checking "continuity" from plug to motor wires. Identification did not seem to be a problem. The motor has nothing to do with this process. 3) Discharging a capacitor is not a Miller thing. It is an electronics service procedure thing. 4) The "newer", (transformerless) battery chargers" are built differently than the older (transformer) units for dummies. I prefer using and repairing the older.
