For modern viewers, Professor Proton may be just kind of an old guy. But he's sit-com legend, Bob Newhart. He was the star of "The Bob Newhart Show," 142 episodes and "Newhart," 184 episodes.

Idk, I don't really side with people who deliberately do things to antagonize someone and make them promise not to react when they reveal that it was intentional. It just makes Sheldon come off as an awful friend, especially considering how much of Leonard's like he already dominates in order to make himself comfortable; his friends have a protocol in place to ditch him when he gets sick cuz of how abusive he can be and that time that they were in the Arctic they were literally going to kill him. Instead of "teaching Leonard how unresolved issues make him feel" perhaps Sheldon should appreciate how much Leonard goes out of his way to make him as comfortable as he is now?

@@Sweet_Venom0027 Well, I personally think Sheldon was justified up to a point to try and get Leonard to understand a bit of where he was coming from on a lot of his issues. Key word, up to a point. In Sheldon's shoes, I would have called it off the moment I saw how red that sweater was making Leonard's skin.

@@ronaldolson6553 I'd agree with that if not for the fact that Leonard already does go out of his way to make Sheldon comfortable, when most other people would be far less understanding about Sheldon's quirks and preferences. Howard would've been a better person to teach this lesson to than Leonard, although I suspect that he wouldn't try because Howard wouldn't be so forgiving.

@@Sweet_Venom0027 True, but even Leonard kind of fails to realize just how hard these little things are for Sheldon to handle, and has on occasion told him to "deal with it," or some variation. And he often writes off such things for Sheldon as him just being unreasonable and immature. Which are both true admittedly, but there's more to it than that. And (spoiler warning for Jax) Sheldon does appreciate what Leonard does, as a later episode shows when he and Leonard have a heart to heart and Sheldon thanks him, he's just terrible at showing it. Definitely an area the show could have had him work on. I genuinely think Sheldon just wanted a little more understanding between himself and Leonard. He still should have called it off sooner though.

As someone on the spectrum, I'm mostly on Sheldon's side with the whole "walk a mile in my shoes" plot. Because I have people who play around with my own quirks and pet peeves, and mock me to my face and behind my back about me making mountains out of molehills with things that legitimately bother me. Granted, I still would have come clean in Sheldon's shoes the first time I saw how red the shirt was making Leonard's skin.
