Career highlights from one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time. I do not own any of the footage or audio shown in this video, all copyrights goes to the NFL. #NFL #DallasCowboys #TroyAikman #NFLHighlights
And 6 time pro bowler and Walter Payton winner. He always put the team above himself. He would hold people accountable which got him bad press but that's what leaders do. Great QB - very underrated.
Yes all in stride, even on busted plays right in the breadbasket. Aaron Rodgers looks like a drug addict but he’s one of the few that can lead his receivers like TA. So many overthrows and shitty balls being thrown by the young qb’s of this era
Yup those whr the times when QBs didn't wear skirts now thy have to hold thr skirts up so thy don't get hit hard and cry about thr skirts getting dirty
He may not have the stats like Brees and the rest of these modern age qbs. But he threw a beautiful ball and knew how to win when the rules weren’t in his favor and the qb wasn’t as protected as it is today. He has to be in the top 10 qbs of all time.
for sure is. The term - he can make every throw gets thrown around too often. I think Aikman was one of the guys that could make every throw perfectly. Him, Marino, Brady and Montana are the only QBs I have ever seen do that.Throw the ball at incredible velocity yet control it amazingly.Troy is for sure top 10 ever. People just hold the stacked teams against him but dont hold it against Montana for some reason. He could nail every throw 100 percent
He was also a great 1 on 1 jump ball receiver, he was a high jump and track guy in high school and college, yeah afterward he didnt flourish like he projected.
@@AdamMassey-lo1uw What's crazy is we just gave up on Jimmy Smith who should've been the No.2 WR and even Irvin's replacement in 1999 but Smith was already going to Pro Bowls for Jacksonville by then.
John Stehr I try to look for Emmitt Smith highlights and everyone just cuts up the same clips from The NFL Network and they just add some awful soundtrack.
That’s when Cowboys were America’s Team I remember in my middle school’s days I had all Jerseys #22 SMITH - #88 IRVIN - #8 AIKMAN and when Deion Sanders joined them I had #21 SANDERS and the shoes as well.. I loved and miss those days.
I remember being a young kid watching these games and thinking “oh thank god, it’s not a serious injury and it’s just a concussion, he’ll be back after a few plays” what a dumbass I was
The fact the man stepped into the hits to make sure he made that pass as perfect as possible is remarkable. It just sucks he has so many concussions. I hope he has no long term effects from them that begin to show up in the years to come #aikmanfan #cowboygreat
I used to love those timing throws where Irvin would run 20+ yards, stop on a dime, turn towards the sideline, and the ball was already on it's way where only Michael could catch it... Guaranteed first down every time... Troy most accurate in SB history...
@@DC4L99 I am a huge fan of the long throws, but it seems to have gone away especially with all the short stuff that brady lives on... I know it's effective, but I still want that 7 step drop and 60 yard bomb!!
Such a shame how much Aikman is shitted on as a commentator, it’s almost like people forget how good he was as a player. I’m a New England fan, but Aikman was a straight up machine. The 90s Cowboys are probably the greatest teams in the history of the NFL
JKC Productions Thanks JKC, I don’t get the hate either. I actually prefer him and Joe Buck over most nfl commentators. The 90s Cowboys were amazing, if Jimmy Johnson hadn’t been let go who knows what would have happened.
It's because the NFL has a young audience. It's a new brand of football and they are going to shit on Dallas because it's "cool" to shit on Dallas, even when they were great. People are just pissed because when Dallas is good, they make the shit look cool. No other team can say that.
Swag. Many dynasties happen in the nfl. But that team made beating everyone look so easy. They did it with pure swag. Endless weapons. In every phase. So good they won a superbowl with Barry Switzer. They had autopilot greatness. I hated them. But watched every game. They were that must see television.
Aikman's the only QB I know of who could get his head knocked off yet still place the ball anywhere on the field in the tightest of windows and hit a receiver in stride. He was nothing short of incredible. If only the Cowboys had a QB now who could remotely come close to his combination of arm strength, intelligence, accuracy, and desire to win. Only player I've seen who hated losing as much as or more than Aikman is Brady.
That hit he takes at the very first of this video shows how far the league has come to protecting QBs when they are defenseless. That would be a fine today the way the Cardinal led with his helmet.
Aikman threw some amazing passes and was a big time playoff performer and an amazing leader absolutely the back bone and spirit of the dynasty and they could have won 1 2 maybe 3 more super bowls if the team didn’t fall apart around him because of Jerry jones
It's great to see a Dallas QB that wears the STAR and deserves it. He earned HIS money. I don't watch them anymore. It was a great era. They always talk about the TRIPLETS, but there was so many on that team offensively and Defensively during those years. Nothing compares since.
robert lunsford Thats awesome man, I think it’s fair to say Cowboys have done pretty good at the qb position throughout there history. And that’s to say the least lol.
@@fireboyman1994 Romo's immaturity is why he's not in Staubach's or Aikman's league. Neither of those guys goes and takes a trip during the playoffs. What a joke!
Miss Americas Team. Those years of domination and playoffs. Aikman was a beast with his passing. We knew Irvin was bad ass, but Harper was great as well. We're still looking for that go to TE like Novacek brought us. Including Witten who was a little above average at best.
Takes some real intestinal fortitude to stand in the pocket knowing you are about to get slammed hard but still in the last half second get that pass off.
Ireally feel that Alvin Harper was never loved by the other coaches and some players. Watching this vid. You can see how much of a touchdown, game breaker he was. How many games would have been lost without Alvin Harper???
Aikman’s the best deep ball thrower I saw until the rules changed to benefit quarterbacks. It would go so high like a Hail Mary and fall softly into the hands of a receiver. Very few quarterbacks can even attempt to do it like that because they don’t have the combination of strength and touch Aikman had. Many guys had one or the other, but not both to the degree Aikman did.
Aikman sir I wish you could come back!!! Last time Dallas was America team!!!! Sir tired lack of discipline in Dallas. Sir if you even see this we're is Dallas current FB ? The side line #40. There not America team no more but joke. Thank you for your play and trying to take Jimmy's shoes. I grew up with real America team!!! So great full sir. #cowboysfanforlife
If we could go back to these times that would be beautiful. Politics got into entertainment, and when that happens, entertainment does not become fun to watch anymore
I remember every one of those. The first one Wilbur Marshall I think broke his jaw or something. But he had to eat through a straw for a week. It was a vicious hit.
And to think he started his college career as a OPTION athletic run first quarterback but little did they know he had a 007 golden gun for a right arm.
See .... again if they didn’t put Aikman in the hospital each game he would be at 5-6 and there wouldn’t be a brady. After Aikman warren moon Marino kelly I cant think of the 90s era to list more ..... they stopped the hit the QB hard thing. League owners were stressed. So brady is great now. He is 43. The oldest ever. Why ? Due to not hitting the QB eras
Damn I didn’t know aikman was that good of a quarterback ...... I’m a giants fan but you gotta give it to him the guy could flat out throw . Definitely under rated when you hear of quarterbacks who could throw if he was on the Dolphins when Marino was or in another system he could’ve had a lot more credibility
I like your objectivity, unfortunately a lot of people base everything off stats. You’re right, if he played in a system like Marino or Favre his numbers would be much higher. Definitely deserves more credit than he gets.
That ball at 4:57 is one of the fastest, tightest, prettiest deep balls I’ve ever seen. It’s hard to get the ball that deep and hit the receiver in stride THAT LONG after the snap. It’s thrown more like a 50 yard deep out (if there were such a thing) than a deep ball. Just an amazing arm.
Troy was a great QB - he was always great in pressure situations. He unfortunately, played in an offense that was focused on the run first, and when they did pass most where short to medium passes. That means you don't rack up a lot of passing yards and TDs. The o-line everyone talks about was not there during the last part of his time in Dallas. The last half of his time in Dallas was plagued with a lack of talent, poor execution from many players, bad coaching and the circus that is Jerry Jones.
It's hard enough to cover a great reciever but you combine that with a hall of Fame QB who has the greatest accuracy ever seen in the NFL, you basically lose Everytime. Even when you nix Irvin and successfully sack Aikman you got Harper, Emmit and a Wyoming tight end to stop. Then there are the very low odds of scoring on Doomsday II. Thus three Superbowls in four years and the only reason it wasn't four in a row is the Cowboys slacked off. No other team has won three in four years. Few have won two in a row.
Not only the best Dallas QB, sorry Roger, but the greatest QB ever. I'd choose Aikman over Brady anytime. If Jones hadn't undone the Cowboys under Johnson, the Patriots would still be far behind Dallas for best team ever. The Johnson Cowboys could easily beat the modern Bilichik Patriots.
A little over rated because , really the offence was built around Emmitt running the rock. But he was as accurate a QB in the HOF, and most of all he was one tough sumsabitches. In today's NFL he would be Brady like.
First of all. An all t.d. highlight reel? That's why he doesn't get more love from the critics. All he did was throw t.d. passes. Secondly, Irvin was jealous of Harper and wanted him gone. Thirdly I saw him play in Texas Stadium, that field had the highest crown of any football stadium ever. Bret Favre couldn't play there, you could stand on one sideline and not see from the knee down any player on the other side. Yes he's the most accurate passer in NFL history, but when all you show are t.d. highlights it's hard for today's fans to comprehend that. Troy didn't scramble around and wait for a defense to break down like every other qb in today's league. He knew where the ball needed to go pre snap. Watch his spiral in regular speed, you can see the laces slow down as it gets close to the receiver. His throwing stance is the best ever, Carson Wentz only real problem is that very thing. Watch Mahomes, and Lamar Jackson, short stances when they deliver. Anyway ✌ out, nice video, but I'd really like to see a highlight reel of him with no t.d.s
Had he not of been teammates with the greatest running back of all time and the greatest offensive line of all time I don't think he would have ever even made the playoffs, he's the best example in history of a mediocre quarterback surrounded by a perfect team around him!
Let's see... #1 pick in the draft, won 3 Super Bowls in 4 years and a Hall of Famer. Madden called him the most accurate quarterback he'd ever seen. Yeah, he was mediocre.
