This is a 8 year review of my 27 ton Troy Bilt log splitter. I also made a home made spitting table and added to the side of the splitter.

You are welcome. I no longer own this splitter, but it served me well when I had it.

I don't own this splitter anymore. I lost it in my divorce, but I agree a 4 way would have been nice to have.

I have the same splitter , have had it 8 years now and must have atleast a 1000 cords thru it , when i got it i put a hour meter on it and i just hit 2500 hours on it , my little 160 cc honda is getting tired so planning on putting a pressure washer motor on it from a troy built with a 180cc craftsman on it , hope it gives me another 2500 hours

Like your custom table, think I’ll try that. I have the same one bought years ago on sale for $900, Lowe’s. It came with a Briggs. As long as I use a fuel additive or ethanol free gas I’m good to go. Also heat with the free wood off the property, did get some free wood from the neighbors in the past.

The table works well. It's not perfect but it's better than bending over every time you start splitting a round down. Thanks for watching and commenting.

I actually have two of these. One is about 15 years old and the other about 10. Never had to do anything to either one of them cept oil changes. I have never put oil on the beam and I haven't had any problems.

Wish mine would have the Honda engine, I just change the oil as soon as it changes color.
@clashavenfarms6714
@clashavenfarms6714 3 года назад
@@davekana8388 in all honesty if you take care of your equipment that engine should be fine. I think a lot of people have problems because they push their equipment past the limits and don't do a good job of servicing.

@@clashavenfarms6714 agreed,the biggest concern is not treating the fuel than ignoring the oil! Keep up the great videos!👍

I've had that splitter for about the same time span, several years back, got a Swisher 4 way wedge, that should be standard equipment !!

What’s the purpose of the oil. Never used it and never had an issue
@clashavenfarms6714
@clashavenfarms6714 Месяц назад
I've always used it to keep the bar lubricated and to cut down on rust on the bar.

How often do you add oil to the beam? What oil do you use? Thanks
@clashavenfarms6714

I use used motor oil. I add it to the beam whenever I notice the beam is getting dry. Thanks for watching and commenting.

What size did you make the table? Did you bolt it on or weld it? Thanks

I don't know the size of the top of my head. I made the size of the diamond plate I bought. I'll measure it tomorrow and get back to you. I just bolted it.

@@clashavenfarms6714 thanks for your reply. I hope to hear back with the measurements when you have a chance.
@clashavenfarms6714
@clashavenfarms6714 3 года назад
2 foot long and 1 foot wide. Biggest thing to keep in mind is not covering the gas cap and not being longer then the splitting foot so you can use it vertically. Hope this helps.
