Troybilt Pressure Washer No Pressure a Different Reason

Have you got a pressure washer that won't build pressure, and you watched all the RU-vid videos on the disassembly, replacement of bad parts, general repair and maintenance and it still didn't fix it? I did. Those videos are all excellent, and taught me what I needed to know about disassembling one and troubleshooting them. Mine had a different problem nobody talked about. Besides the six plastic valves that get stuck or go bad, and besides the Unloader Valve that gets stuck or goes bad, there's one more little thing. There's a Ball and Spring check valve that sometimes gets frozen stuck. How do you get that unstuck, and get it out? I used compressed air to finally get mine unstuck. But you have to set the valve body up correctly and plug off all the escape routes for the air to get it to push that ball and spring out. But be ready to capture them somehow, as when they finally pop out, they could end up in the next county. • Troybilt Pressure Wash...

Who would have thought? I've dismantled and cleaned the pump, no broken or missing parts. Couldn't figure out what was going on, was about to toss it until I came across your video. Did what you said, and voila, the little compression spring was broken. Imagine something so simple causing so much trouble, I would have never thought to look at it without your suggestions. Thank you so much, you're a life saver.

Your video just saved me! I have the same pump and just rebuilt it with all new check valves and seals. I spent hours cleaning, acid, drilling out 2 jammed check valves, the works. But I missed the ball bearing and spring! I've been scratching my head on why the pump had no pressure.... I reinstalled the spring and ball, and INSTANT FIX! its working again! thanks!

Really wish I came across this video 2 weeks ago before I ordered a bunch of new parts for my AR pump. The steel ball was missing from one I've been working on for a friend. I'm starting to believe whomever worked on it last sabotaged the engine and pump. The carburetor also had parts missing. Great video, thank you.

Thank you so much. You gave me some things to try. Good to know that I'm not the only one who can't find anything that drops on the floor!

I just bought a Troy Built for $30. Water comes out of the wand but no pressure. I noticed today that I have the same issue. The steel ball will not come out. You’ve given me the information I need to look into this now. Thank you. Hopefully it’ll be the end to this issue.

Mine is not jammed, but my spring is broken. I wonder if this is my lack of pressure issue. Being that this is an easy start function I'm surprised it would cause pressure issues, but your video will hopefully be my fix!!! Thanks for sharing.

For people that don’t want to go through all this themselves and take it to a repair shop, it would be cheaper to buy a new pressure washer

Well. I will ask simply because I have never had any luck fixing a pump. I have 4-year-old troybuilt. I use the pump saver stuff every time I use it. Never leave it hooked up and always pul the rope a few times to get most of the water out before putting the pump saver in. I was using it the other day and the motor just bogged down like king kong grabbed the shaft and stopped it. Could not pull the rope, It was locked. Finally realized it was locked from water pressure. Squeezed the handle with a zip tie engine fired run fine but no pressure. as soon as you let go of the handle it stops the motor again. I assume there is a bypass valve of some sort in the thing that stopped up mid-operation. I have no idea where to look or get started. any suggestions? Its basically the same pump you have there.

I think that will be the unloader valve. If I have figured how these things work, when you let go the trigger on the wand, the unloader valve opens up from the back pressure and lets the water recirculate inside the pump. That's assuming my understanding of how that unloader works is correct. .

That check ball needs to be greased up when winter gets here after you blow dry the unit Just my way of doing it

Well my ball is free, spring is fine, unloader is free, still not much pressure cleaned carb even though it seems to run fine. I tried adjusting the screw on the unloader and it turns the pressure up some but not to what it should be. When I let go of the trigger it boggs the engine down and it stalls it. I took the whole pump apart and everything is moving freely. when I put the unloader back together I'm not sure if I supposed to be able to push the pin down cause I can't because the spring is too strong, but it moves back and forth before I put it back together, I'm confused and not sure if there's something wrong with the unloader or able to figure out what the new one should be, I found a bunch online that look just like it but apparently are different somehow.

The unloader valve is kind of a two-stage device. All of mine have the small pin that sits against the ball bearing check valve in the port, and that pin should push back quite easily until it hits the stop. That's what allows the pressure coming after pond to come out the port to the pressure hose. But then the entire cylinder that that smaller pin sits in is what the tension on the large spring on the outside controls. A lot of people don't realize that piston should move back and forth fairly easily when you take the thing apart. High-pressure water going to the collar of that piston is what pushes it inwards to go into bypass mode when you let go of the trigger on the wand. If that piston sticks in that position, you will not get high pressure at the outlet tube.

unloader valve ,how to you break it loose ,nothing is moving afraid i might brake it completely.
@jonramsden8185
@jonramsden8185 3 года назад
you can break it. Vids I've seen on that show striking the end of it to break the internal spring loose. Mine was okay, luckily, so I didn't have to try to fix it. They are a bit pricey to replace too.

In case anybody is still reading this,. Striking with anything is not the right way to do it. If getting a flat screwdriver blade to one of the coils of the spring closest to the body using that to lever it outwards doesn't work, get a stack of washers to put over the threaded stem and against the opening, then use the nut to tighten down and it will pull the unloader valve out without damaging it.

Brand new pump and still bad pressure. The pump says 2.3 gpm and I was able to fill a 2.5 gallon gas can in 1 minute, but the pressure sucks. Ideas??? I'm at a loss. (The house pressure is good and the 8.5 hp Briggs maintains stable power under load.)
@jonramsden8185
@jonramsden8185 3 года назад
Hey David; from what I have learned, there aren't a lot of things that can cause bad pressure. If you have a new pump, and still no pressure, is it possible the engine shaft is slipping on the pump? I can't imagine anything else, except possibly bad parts on your new pump. I would return the pump first off, and hope that's the issue.
