On a community post, a few weeks ago, I shared a picture of these bulbs, with vintage incandescent. I asked which strand was LED, and which strand was incandescent. I had two replies. Drummerboy's Washers And More was correct, and Isaac24 was incorrect!
Disclaimer: This is an unpaid review, and I purchased them with my own money, for personal use. Also, I will always have vintage incandescent bulbs in my Christmas light display, as they can't be beat as far as looks go.
I first saw these bulbs advertised last year, but they had already sold out before I could order some to test. This year, as soon as I received an email they are available for sale, I immediately ordered some.
A few days later I received the bulbs, and here are my findings.
First off, these are the best attempt yet, at mimicking traditional incandescent. I don't think they will ever be as good, as far as color temperature, but overall, they are good. I never thought I'd say that!
What could be improved?
1. There is a bit of noticeable flicker, when walking by, but looking at them head on, there is none detected, and no resulting eye strain.
2. The red, and orange color, especially red, could be a bit deeper in color, like the old ceramic coated GE bulbs.
3. They are not fully dimmable, and drop out at about 78 volts, compared to vintage incandescent which are fully dimmable down to 20 volts or so. Not a deal breaker by any means though.
What's amazing?
1. They got the green, and blue colors right! First time I've seen it done with LED bulbs.
2. The attention to detail in bulb shape. Modern production C7 bulbs are torpedo shape, not cone shaped like the vintage bulbs. Tru Tone bulbs have more of a cone shape, and I was pleased to see that, upon unboxing.
3. 0.6 watts each, and plenty bright. About 15 watts power consumption per 25 foot strand. Perfect for older homes, with old wiring, like mine.
Overall, I am mighty pleased with these bulbs, and have found places to use them in my 2021 display. I will be reviewing Tru Tone Jewel Tone soon, and they are even better than the Classicolor shown in this video.

Thank you for taking the time to post this great analysis! We're a very tiny new business that's just getting started, and always working towards improving our lights!

Dimming performance varies quite a bit now that there are so many different types of bulbs and dimmers, along with whatever combination might be dimmed at the same time. We, ourselves use a range of dimmers on our bulbs with a range of results, but mostly surprisingly great, full-range dimming, even on our oldest rotary dimmers. ...continued...

One trick we’ve learned is that if the dimming performance is more choppy, drops out, or not full-range, adding a single incandescent bulb to the mix has a dramatic improvement mostly due to the very low draw from the Tru-Tone bulbs. Different bulbs and bulb technologies can also offer differences in the rate of dimming. ...continued...

Mostly, I just wanted to add that Tru-Tone bulbs most definitely can offer full-range dimming that is also much more aligned with an incandescent bulb rate, but that depending on all these factors, that may not always be the case. Thanks so much for your support while we work to bring back the popularity of these nostalgic lights! Merry Christmas!

Definitely! I look forward to doing more business with you all in the future. I'm so happy to finally have some good LED bulbs for my display, so I can use more light strands, and not heat up the old wiring in my old house.

I will try that trick, with the incandescent bulb! Dimming is not an issue with me, as I use them full voltage. Just wanted to share my findings, in case someone did want to dim them. I got some Jeweltones, and using the same test equipment, they dimmed down much lower. I have a review of those coming soon. Merry Christmas, and keep up the good work! I appreciate you all watching my review!

Those led light bulbs are beautiful compared to the conventional incandescent ones

Yeah, they did a good job with the LED bulbs.

I learned very quickly why you can’t use the original incandescent C7 bulbs on a plastic artificial tree. Nice to see they’ve come out with these LEDs.

Certainly not at full voltage! I've got vintage incandescent bulbs on my tree, running at about 80 volts, and they operate much cooler. These LED bulbs are absolutely a great alternative though!

Parrot175 got some of these, they were sent to him, and he had several videos on them, just recently. He GAWKED about them in each video, but he is a light bulb nerd, after all. Not a twerp, by any means, but then again he enjoys Apple packaging as much as the products themselves, so that should explain a lot right there. Hmm, Incorrect24??? No kidding! He's been incorrect about everything thus far! As for the bulbs themselves, yeah, I agree, these definitely are the best attempt yet. There is nothing, no amount of technology, that can possibly duplicate incandescents. Just like flat panel monitors today, they have a great picture, but cannot possibly duplicate what a CRT can produce, at least in terms of color rendering.

I saw those videos, and figured I better get off my butt, and finish my video from about 3 or so weeks ago! I didn't know they'd send a "sampler platter," that was pretty cool to see. beg pard! Indeed, that's a _great_ comparison! Flat panels have come a long way, but I know what you mean about color rendering.

c9s are more larger and have more of a torpedo shape compared to c7s that have more of a cone shape and are more smaller

Mostly true, I have plenty of torpedo shaped C7 bulbs. This video is focusing on c7 bulbs. Tru-Tone vs incandescent.
