Truck bed organization using DIY slideout and Home Depot's Rigid Tool Boxes. Rollouts with ball bearing slides are great but it commits your pickup bed to that configuration. I wanted to be able to easily remove this if I needed the bed for other uses. Dodge Ram, Chevy silverado, Ford F series, Toyota Tundra, Nissan Titan. I live in Colorado which is a very dry climate. In more humid environments this may not work as well with the shuffleboard powder.

Simple and efficient. I think some people get too hung up on the flashy stuff. What matters is that it works and helps you be more productive. Looks like you nailed it! 👍👍

I’m AMAZED how efficient your tool storage is and how much you’ve done with a small space!! Nice job brother! You have truly inspired me! Last year I have down sized from a big trailer to a small trailer. Now I want to follow your footsteps. Thank you for sharing! I love your table saw and miter saw stand videos too!! Could we see how you’ve packed your Ridgid boxes next?

Thanks Red for the comments. I may do that when it warms up again.

I do like the sunken in foot settings on this, it looks absolutely critical in making it stable, without doing ANYTHING ELSE for that factor. Thanks for sharing. Aloha

Yes, that is what keeps the boxes locked down in place. Thanks for the comment.

Awesome set up ! I ended up doing a combo set of ridge boxes and crates on one side of the truck and Milwaukee pack out right behind it. These ridges box’s are amazing for the price !!!

This is practical! Well done! There is nothing “hack” about it!

Thanks for the comment. I guess you just have to design something that works for your application. I may take some countertop laminate and attach to one piece to make it slide a bit smoother. I just don't want it so slippery that it slides out on its own if I am parked uphill. thanks again.

Nice set up. I've use melamine edge banding as well for low tech slides.
@homecraftsolutions3506
@homecraftsolutions3506 2 года назад
Actually that would probably work better. The finish on the plywood is starting to wear off. Could use melamine panels too.

GREAT JOB. Only one suggestion, get a dolly (or any type of wheels) to roll in and out to save your back, knees, etc. Blessings!

I do have a fold up dolly but it sits at the front in front of my miter saw. I can only pack so much in that truck. Thanks for the suggestion.

Maybe try gluing formica on the sliding faces to help slide better in the future if it starts getting tough to move. Nice cheap and quick. 👍 good tips

that's a good thought. It is starting to get a little worn from the pre-finish wearing off. I also thought of the teflon that is available in sheets. Sounds expensive though. Thanks

Pretty cool set up man I’ve been trying to work out how to use pack outs and not take up all the bed might do slide on half like you and keep the table saw and miter box in the back seat. Thanks and cheers🥂

Hey Thomas, thanks for the comments. Hopefully you can adapt some form of this for your use.

Thanks. So I also install cabinets for a big portion of jobs but also many other things. I was wondering if you would possibly do a video on the rest of your trucks load out. What else you have in the bed such as other tools not in pack outs and commonly needed hardware and so on

I'll plan on doing that. My schedule is full right now. I'll have to pick a nice day this winter. Colorado has a few of those. Thanks for the interest.

Simpler designs are the best at times. You have a partial slider. I have a sheet of plywood that's slides on rollers. , then side tool boxes. I guess you need to custom make regardless based on what trade/work you do more of or less of , etc..

Instead of the shuffleboard powder you could use laminate glued down to one of the boards or both face to face and that would be slick as well. One piece I would think would be sufficient as face to face would be too slick in my opinion. Great job with specialized purpose and simplicity.

the laminate sounds like a good idea. the clear coat finish is starting to wear off and is not as easy as it used to be. thanks,

@@homecraftsolutions3506 what about wax?
@-Kreger-

You could add .5 or 1” Teflon tape. I bet just a strip on each side and 1 down the middle would work great. I think a roll is around 10 dollars or so.

I have also had people suggest gluing some laminate countertop material to one piece. I just don't want to make it too slick. Thanks

Glad you like it. I would probably glue a skin of laminate like formica on my next one to help it slide a little better.
