My wife and I spent 2 months this winter on the Washington coast with 2 ten pound dogs and a 50 pound border collie in a small Northwood 850 Wolf Creek camper. It really went quite well.

You ought to monetize this channel! I don’t think it will hurt your viewership. People are just used to ads by now. You have enough subs to make a few extra bucks. Plus your channel will only keep growing with the type of content you’re putting out. Thanks for doing what ya do Taylor, and maybe we’ll see you out there when we get our truck camper!

Ahhhh. Always find myself smiling by the end of your videos. You have a strong and calming vibe about you. The calm is strong with this one. Have you thought of Patreon? I'll just leave it for you to check out. I really like the look of the truck and camper separate. Glad you gave us a shot of that. Different perspective. I admire your honesty and baring so much of your personal life. 👍 I've never written or commented as the case may be, on any channel like I do yours. Glad you're open to the experience. I'm having a BLAST! "Canadian Wilderness Boondocking" Thats your campfire talk/seminar at RTR 2019. Keeps notes of free places especially. 😏 If you ever offer logo t-shirt sales, ouuu or even better-hoodies, consider me signed up first. Have a wonderful evening/day. Taylor.. GREAT JOB on this Q&A..you kept in moving at the perfect pace. You got through more questions and gave more great information in a reasonable period of time than anyone in this RU-vid sphere that I have seen. It is great that you watched Gone With the Wynns..they are about the best video producers out there. Notice they do not do any music open..they just get to it...which is great. Their shooting and editing is great, but most importantly their storytelling is great..and so is yours. I am an 8 time Emmy award winning journalist with my own production company, and I really love your energy, honesty, and real storytelling ability. Don't get a cat..and for god sakes not a rabbit. Rabbits are great, but require lots of care to be taken care of right. Most people have no clue how much work it takes to give a rabbit the right food, and care...Leaving a pet in that camper for 14 hours a day while you are working would really suck for the animal..you are too nice to do that. Plus the hot girl in your future might not like the pet..don't do it. You are great..keep up the great work my friend!

Now I understand why you stay on Vancouver Island over the rainy dreary winter - unemployment insurance. On the subject of electric blankets, they make heated mattress pads that are designed to be slept on, not under. A better option than sleeping on top of an electric blanket. Just discovered your videos and I am loving them. I travel for work and am gone at least 8 months a year. I HATE paying rent for my apt when I'm never there. So now I've decided this lifestyle would work GREAT from me! Your set-up seems perfect for me except for one thing. I want to bring my motorcycle along with me so that I can ride when I get the chance. I know you can also tow with this set-up but I'm wondering how much this would limit where you boondocked. Thanks for the videos and all the info!

Hey Taylor... sooo much to say: Judging by the way you’re addressing finances, seems that many have wondered if what you’re doing is wise and/or responsible, ie: your mom, others close to you etc., and what I would say to that is this: As a parent of two step children, (millennials of this age group), so many of today’s youth lack motivation, drive, inspiration and are completely lost, smoke dope, party their lives away and freeload off parents and others, that what this young man has chosen for himself, his confidence in himself, will be his rock solid foundation for success in whatever path he chooses going forward. (Just love the viewer that commented in Yoda speak!🤣🤣🤣) Thanks for being so open as to costs. If one does the math, you’re still talking about 40k/year which is substantial, and I think will cause many to ponder practical feasibility of replicating this lifestyle. Also, if you’re pulling in 40k/yr part-timing, then we’re gonna start thinking about what we could own if we worked full time; the house, the car, the toys, the property tax, the bills, the indebtedness, etc; note the obvious stated exchange of trade-offs😆 I think many of us live vicariously through your channel but lack the conviction and resolve in committing to something like this; a fear of the unknown and a trade-off in creature comforts. Your plans for the future are truly amazing should you see it through. I probably speak for many of us in confirming how we will follow your life on into this seaward endeavor with (in the style of Tim Curry in Rocky Horror) antici.... pation 😂 As to monetization; seems many of us would happily sit through ads to ensure your success. Don’t feel for a moment you’re selling out, as one viewer put it, “you’ve eared it”! You are developing content that we all enjoy. As to a go-fund style campaign, I’d advise against it; it has an air of free-loading to it and would work against your “branding”, and let’s face it, you’re gonna have to recognize that you’re developing a brand. Create a logo my friend and I’ll be the second guy out there to buy one of your shirts! My apologies over being long winded, but as a parent of an amazing daughter and perpetual inner artist, I have a deep admiration for what you are doing. Keep on keepin’ on my friend; follow your conviction and let no one detract from it💪🏽

You have an interesting positive outlook on life. And it is to your credit that you know what you want and what you don't want out of life, the RV, the boat later, etc. Unfortunately, many people, if not most, don't really know what they want out of life, they just sort of drift along and don't want to expend the energy or risk to make their life what they want it to be. And then one day after having a home or two and a couple jobs, kids, they retire. And they don't have a clue how to really live because they never learned how to live when younger. Life sort of beats them up and they are just glad to be retired and maybe travel a little or move to a warmer climate or near the kids. Keep doing what you love so someday when you decide to retire you already know how to live. Many don't.

Loved watching Gone with the Wynn's! Just think when you buy your boat next you can watch there boating video's ;). If it was just me I would buy a class b, some of them are so expensive tho!!! A lot of new brands on the market which will hopefully drop the prices. Everyone is going smaller. I like Hymer Activ because of the front dining, the price and quality. Will be looking at truck campers come spring cause we have the truck already, checked out the Wolf Creek at the RV show last week which is part of the Artic Fox lineup. love the craftsmanship :). Keep up the awesome work Taylor and stay dry.

Warranty's are crap. They never fix anything anyways. So you better start out with a decent RV because you are going to be making all the repairs.
@lardal1502
@lardal1502 6 лет назад
Good job. You are willing to talk about things that other Van dwellers and Nomadics won't mention. The one thing that people like Bob Wells (cheap RV living) won't tell people is: what do you do if you outlive you current rig. They say that it will cost about $500 a month to live the nomadic life but, don't tell people that they need to save to replace their rig in X number of years. If you are looking to get into a sailboat then look on Yahoo Groups for a group called "origamiboats". It's all about steel boats built and designed by Brent Swain. There are several centred around Comox. He could pull together a deck and hull in about two weeks and then the owner finishes out the interior, rigging, and systems themselves. Now I think Brent has retired, but there are others on the island that still build these boats. It would get you on the water a lot cheaper and you would be safe from deadhead logs.

I might comment as the vid is in progress...so forgive if I have multiple entries. As an electronics tech...I urge you not to use rice. Just open as much of the device as you can, let it dry, you can flush with isopropyl alcohol and use a fan or hair dryer without the heat to blow it dry. Alcohol mixes with the water and dissipates it quickly. Electronics getting wet doesn't hurt anything...unless the power is on.. On the drone there are gears and water can damage that section, you might need to open that section and flush it out then lubricate per the factory specs. Rice has miniature threads and bits that can get under and around electronic components and eventually gather more dust and debris to blanket components and cause them to overheat or just be difficult to clean. If you suspect an electronic device has water intrusion...keep it powered off, remove any power source and give it time to properly dry...days...with a fan on it...or flush it with compressed air for a while. BTW, is that a DJI phantom ? 3? Oh, almost forgot.. the rice and its tiny debris issues...can get into the camera bearings or between plates and cause issues...

Love your videos, enthusiasm, spirit and encouragement in reaching for your dreams. I have followed you all the way across Canada. I have searched and searched for some Canadian solo adventurers ( in the senior age group) for their blogs. None. Only a few couples. Solo is a whole different world. You, Taylor, are the first that has delved into such depth with your filming, & descriptions of our great country. I too have a dream of getting to NFLD, maybe flying and renting an rv to overcome that long ferry ride. First there is more to see and do in our western provinces. You have encouraged me to check off the helicopter ride off my bucket list. Money, have you ever given thought to become a WagonMaster and take caravans around? Duane Pilson is a retired wagonmaster. He had a column in RV West magazine. I am sure he won't mind the plug. Went with him to Alaska in 2014 and The LTV'S made in Manitoba. I'll end saying I bet I am your oldest follower, lol. 79. Any other old gals out there rolling the wheels? I mean Canadians. Again kudos to you for starting young , life is so short.
@tonyborrill1789

I'm aware that your comment is over a year old, but where you said "Electronics getting wet doesn't hurt anything...unless the power is on.." is just wrong. All electronics have copper contacts/traces/connections and not all of them are coated well/at all (especially if there's a wire/ribbon connector). Water can and does corrode electrical connections very easily. Turning the electronics on can blow components, but electronics that are off can definitely get damaged by water.

Do you have any college completed and if not, have you ever considered going to college?

I'm not so sure a B type camper would be as ideal as what you have now, a go any where, 4 wheel drive, high stance rig with plenty of clearance for back country trails. Getting stuck on a beach would ground a B class. You also have the option of removing the camper and leaving it on site. I like the idea of a reg cab to reduce overall length to a minimum---cheaper on ferries, better turn radius for those tight U-turns and great when parking in cities. If major work or traffic accident should disable the truck for a while, you can still live in the camper.

My vote is on instagram. As for short clips and stuff, instagram has that too, instagram stories (temporary showing - 24h only) or just upload a clip into the normal feed. Instagram is the way to go for simple interface and sharing great photos (and short clips too). You can reply to comments there also. And direct/private message is also available.

You you need a 1 ton or 3500 truck to haul that camper or could a 3/4 or 2500 do the job?

Nice Q&A session Taylor! When I first started watching RV videos on youtube I also watched Gone with the Wynns, but stopped after they went to the boat. Boat living doesn't really interest me, so I hope you continue to do the RV thing for a long time my friend!

Hey Taylor, I’m a total newbie when it comes to Truck Camping. so I’m sorry if my questions are maybe too easy for you to answer 😉 I’m wondering how do you get rid of black and grey water tank content when you’re not staying on campgrounds. I’m also asking myself how and where do you refill you fresh water tank. Thanks for your help. Btw i want to leave you a big thumbs up to your lifestyle, the decision you made “to do what your want to do” and of course on your channel. I sat the last hours in front of my tv together with my wife and we were dreaming about our future 😉 Take Care

Taylor. I have a couple questions. First, what do you do for entertainment? I haven’t seen a satellite dish on top, which I wouldn’t do either. Why pay all that. Do you do Netflix, amazon prime video or anything else? Second, why did you purchase a gas powered truck instead of diesel? It seems to me with the camper on it diesel would better mileage. Also will last longer in the long run.

Man i can say off the bat that yours and mine personality matches a lot. I find a lot of me in your life style for me you are kind of living the life i want to live at certain point of time. You do make all the choice i would have made if i would have been on your shoes. When you spoke of locking your self up and think of life u just struck a chord with me. I am from india and i can totaly relate to what you are saying sad thing is rv life is not that main stream here in india so its difficult for me to find an rv or even any information related to that but i so feel that i would love to do that at some point of time.

How does your truck handle going down steep hills with the camper? Is pretty bad on hills that are wet or snow covered. I'm leaning toward buying a dually and putting a heavy camper on it to do some boondocking during the winter, but I'm concerned about how it will handle snowy conditions.

I'm trying to decide between Class B and truck camper. The one advantage I can see for the truck camper is you can get into the off road and rough area much better than a class B. Thoughts?

Time for a new Drone. Check out the release of DJI's Mavic AIR. Incredible! And it wouldn't take up near as much room as your old one.

You should also look for support in things you do . Like the camper brand , maybe an outdoor brand , even gopro or Dji About having a pet . You should reconsider the cat choice . A winter dog like a aussie collier could be a great company plus an addition to your videos Most small/mid dogs will do great in a small space . The dog and will appreciate a hike on the woods together You have an amazing channel .
