Great review! Yikes, those straps got tore up! Thank you! 👍👍

Thanks for the comment and support! The torn up straps were 100% my fault, I did it the right way on two of them and the wrong way on the other two. The ones I did right had not damage at all.

I’m guessing the 2 that got accidentally damaged were the ones you gave away? 😉. Good review! I’d like to trial these over here in Australia. 😊. We have a small fleet of trucks that cart livestock and stock feed to farms that are quite often muddy.

Haha, naw the company actually sent out a new set of 4 to the person that won these. They would definitely work in many situations, and you probably don't have to deal with much ice where you are, which is the terrain I'd prefer tire chains.

Thanks! If u have 4, is it better 1 per tire or 2 on each rear wheel?
@EngineAdventures
@EngineAdventures 3 года назад
I actually didn't test that, but my thinking for this particular situation was 2 on each rear wheel because I was sliding backwards when the claws weren't in contact with the ice. Having one on each wheel could have been better assuming the locked center and rear diffs were enough to keep the contact of the truck claws with the ground at different times. My guess is that after slipping a little they would have all lined up again and I'd have to do a full tire rotation in-between each time the claws bite. If I were in any other situation where there wasn't a risk of sliding backwards, I would have definitely done one on each wheel.

Are you still using these? How do they do in mud and sand?
@EngineAdventures
@EngineAdventures 6 месяцев назад
I do carry them, but haven't had to use them. It really depends on the conditions. If the mud or sand is thin and bottomless then they may not help. If it's heavy/dense then they will likely work very well. With this truck and a trailer this heavy, they work well on slight inclines. When it gets steeper this setup just weighs too much for them to be super effective. I'd definitely keep them on hand for a lot of situations, much cheaper than a tow, or even fuel costs to have a friend come tow you out.

Thanks. Maybe for your heavy set up you might need the bigger truck claws. The ones they make for full size trucks?
@EngineAdventures
@EngineAdventures 6 месяцев назад
Yeah that would definitely help, and going to more of them per tire. This test was pretty much the worst case scenario for these, I needed decent throttle to prevent the vehicle from sliding backwards in between each time the claws came around their rotation to grab the ice.

Would it be possible to put four truck claws around a single wheel?
@EngineAdventures
@EngineAdventures 2 года назад
Yes it is, so if you have 8 of them so both wheels have 4 I think it would have had no problem making it up the ice.

@@EngineAdventures Thanks for the reply. Are these good enough to turn a rwd lifted vehicle with a locking diff into an actual off roader? Thinking of doing this with a wagon.
@EngineAdventures
@EngineAdventures 2 года назад
@@Maxb49 Sure, I mean I've seen some rear wheel drive vehicles do some pretty fun stuff. However, it all depends on the type of off-roading, and I wouldn't use the Truck Claws unless the vehicle is stuck, using them full time will probably do some damage to the claws and/or the vehicle.

@@EngineAdventures There has to be some way to fit a small track over a single tire.
