They are fantastic. One of the camera operators, known on channel as Bovine Mngr, came through earlier this year. They and a few railfans greeted him as if his was a dignitary. They treat everyone with kindness.
@@jamesmckenzie3532 I need to get myself down to the station one of these days (I used to be in walking distance, and was over there a few times) and say hi to everyone, and get on camera. I might just wear my conductor cap (I got it when I worked as a volunteer for Old Pueblo Trolley.) Bovine Mngr is a pretty neat guy himself - if anyone has questions about the station or operations, he has a macro handy. Plus, he loves the station cats.
15:51 the fact that the high hood sd40 was also helping pull the train and wasn't dead in tow makes it even better. Rare to see them actually use one in a consist in 2022, let alone even rarer to even see one
As a nurse we have all had to work different shifts and make change the from days to night, and from days to the graveyard shift. When I see the trains running thru the night, early evening, thru snow, sleet, hail and blistering heat, I wonder how many people spare a moment to realize what is being done is on their behalf. I still cannot understand the rail settlement, not when you realize the critical importance of these employees. That driver is one gifted chap, not only the car at the corner, but dodging traffic as he completes the turn.
As an OTR truck driver, if GPS tells me to go a certain way, and I have my doubts, I will keep driving until I find a more suitable place to make my turn. Did that today in fact up in Berne, Indiana. Those Chessie hi-Cubes with the chessje cat symbol were a great sight. That CP leading the UP, the two UP freights paralleling each other in Rochelle, lots of H2s on BNSF, nice heritage units, and friendly engineers and firemen. Awesome grab bag as usual. You do not disappoint us, VR!
Loved the fallen flag cars esp the Chessie Sleeping Cat,the super Trucker was well a super Trucker and the cute sign at the Tuscon Amtrak Station.CSX needs to do like the other Class Ones and do paint schemes of years past including the lines that merged into the CSX Corp as it would be cool to see the sleeping cat on the short hood nose and sides of the long hood
Just shows how economics and industries are changing. The MP hi-cube has been rebuilt and got an FRA waiver to stay in service past the 50 year mark. Many parts suppliers are closer to the production plant or come in Via containers and no one is building new high cubes anymore. Roll on.
As a trucker myself I definitely deal with that garbage every day give us truckers space and we really have to take up multiple lanes of the road to make corners especially in cities and towns
3:40, what a beautiful sight shiny, black NS locomotives amongst all that BNSF ugliness! Also, glad to see Deshler and Fostoria well represented! 15:58, an especially beautiful sight!
That trucker had better pray that no one reported him to his bosses but I don't think that he's in any trouble because he didn't know that the tracks were in the middle of the street HAHAHAHA.
Kinda sad but true that so many would-deface, vandalize, ?- another's property without permission for some manner of self expression. There are probably numerous opportunities for those with some real talent to "do their thing" and actually get paid and the effort would probably be more enduring.
There's thousands of mobile billboards the railroads could lease, all they have to do is get a marketing company that would have an interest in spraying on product advertising on the sides of railcars.
A fantastic and Nice mix of Motive Power on this video and the mixed Trains mate is First class and your Material is fantastic, Loved the slow down of Video on some scenes but just great to see such dedication from someone even in bleak weather, 10 out of 10 for mine, Excellently Filmed. Regards John (Australia)
Sorry for the VR communities loss of Ms Jen. My coworker told me about it the other day and wanted to send some good vibes to the VR community. Loss is hard
0:18 CP and KCS doubleheader in Chehalis 1:53 CSX loco running long-hood-forward with the FRA train 2:10 lovely Family Lines hopper. I think I've seen that one before 3:10 CP 8757 as mid-train DPU 4:44 lots of 86-foot boxcars 5:32 a bunch of freshly painted UP autoracks 7:40 NS doubleheader in Wichita 8:32 a fast 5-unit light power move 9:28 EJ&E heritage unit as mid-train DPU 9:53 WOW! The KCS Holiday Express and OCS being moved through SFJ. Quite a few trains on the UP bridge and BNSF flyover too 11:33 I don't think trucks are allowed to turn there. Or at least that goes into effect after this video 12:13 WOW! an ex-FURX gray and silver unit! I've only seen one of those in person, but I'm more familiar with their ex-BN SD40-2s as a lot were kept in BNSF's yards 13:19 KRL bay window caboose 17:06 a Schnabel car with caboose.
you don't see 86 foot auto parts boxcars often but they out there! in ANY scale they are monsters! Imagine that on England rails! it wouldn't fit anywhere! 🤣🤣 I always thought the BNSF Auto Racks in that Orangey colors looked like Rio Grande ones as they were orange too hehe Ones I'd like is Burlington Route & BN 86 footers cause I saw 2 in the late 80s that KCS Christmas Train might be the last time we see it 12:18 thats a ex-FURX loco! 12:58 lol that was from the derailment last week
That's why over here in Europe trucks are not so long. So the can get trailers around tight turns like that! What was he thinking? He might as well have been driving a limousine!😀
As nice as your trucks are, our trucks are bigger, because America is a huge land. It's a long haul. Trucks however, are banned from certain streets here in America.
15:25 - La Plata = shunting yard for deer! 17:16 - the grey, caboose-like car belongs to a German company? (Fracht = German equivalent for 'Freight' or 'Cargo')
Nothing like making several vehicles back up and then get in the on coming lane so you can turn where you shouldn't. Yep that'll earn ya some 'respect and admiration' mmm hmm. I'm sure there were salutes delivered and well deserved. Rest of the grab bag was also good stuff.
Known as a "Schnabel" car it comes apart in the middle in order to literally accommodate large extremely heavy loads (such as transformers, etc) as the "middle" by making them temporarily one complete unit with the car "ends" for transportation spreading their weight over many wheelsets.
The Trucker handled that about as well as he could considering where he had to turn. Although, he should have done the turn from the left lane to give him more room on the inside of the turn for the trailer.
Eighteen minutes and not one second of the S*A*M Shortline Excursion Train coming through the Diamond at Cordele, Georgia. Even had Santa out waiving at the cameras on the Rail fan platform. Don't ask me how I know. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Those cars should’ve BLOCKED that idiot truck driver pulling that stunt and called the cops on him. Not even remotely legal. It’s called “truck bullying.” The morons use their truck size to boss their way around. See it every day on the interstate. And a direct reason for increased accidents involving these trucks.
Sometimes (like this episode) the truck driver waits and waits as drivers keep on coming. No one stops a bit short of the stop sign to let the driver make the turn, so he is forced into turning and making them back up (he is working on a schedule, most drivers are not). Many truckers "Share the road" many car drivers do not.
