I have been thinking about getting these for a while; I think I might just have to check these out... driving at night in this perpetual winter is getting tough as my eyes get older, lol.
Great videos!! Do they have a "running mode". Truckmall now has a version for the XJ's that offers a 4-function (Halo, turn signal, low, and high) Thanks for all the great information and amazing videos!
You must have been excellent at executive presentations during your former professional job. Anyway, I like what I saw here, and if or when I need new lights I'll try these especially at that price point.
Thanks! I did my fair share of Power Points and presentations. I wasn’t too bad at it. Luckily for this review, I didn’t have to fake it and sell a bad idea haha (Been there and done that...Too many times for corporate!)
@@simpleoverlander I did my share as well for several multinationals based in Manhattan. Preparing for and convincing people to accept an idea or budget was one of the toughest parts of my job. (( PS: I moved from a mainframe programmer analyst to VP Information Systems starting back in 1972. Now retired, I have distanced myself from as much technology as possible here in the NH woods. ))
I have those on my XJ and they are great especially for the money. The only issue I’ve had with them is in the snow. They will not melt off the build up of snow and ice. I know some more expensive LEDs have heaters in them for that reason.
I hope your JK likes it. I replaced filament with led on a YJ and couldn't get the highs to run and the signals on the rear wouldn't flash with the headlights on. So frustrating that I broke up with the owner over it! I was looking for an exit anyways
Looks like it worked out then haha! I think they will turn out well. I did some research on what people were saying and the reviews are good overall. Longer real world tests in my Jeep will tell me more, but I like em so far.
Send em back haha. Get another set tomorrow! I try not to buy anything before a holiday or BF. I learned the same way :) We need to see what Manny is up to and try to get that trip planned!
@@simpleoverlander The XJ is down waiting for my seats to come back from being reupholstered and I thought I'd upgrade the lights while I wait. But they were only $85 do not o bad. Yeah, Manny said he wanted to plan a winter trip in the Smoky's after Thanksgiving but I'm not sure I can go. We;ll see how the timing works out. I may have to watch the two of you on RU-vid again. :)
Pretty sure no LEDs will melt ice. I have both off-road lights and upgraded bulbs in my stock lights in my 80 series Land Cruiser. They shine bright and have a great pattern while taking very little power but the downside (weird to say efficiency is a downside) is that they don't have a byproduct of heat so ice and snow can build up pretty severe.
Like Nigel stated, I doubt these will get warm enough to melt ice. My more expensive ones don’t either. They do make LEDs that have that as a feature from what I have heard. Not sire what the cost is or the efficiency though, or if they require extra wiring.
