My custom TRUE 20.2 pads, glove and blocker. 20.2 is supposed to be almost identical to 20.1 with a few changes. It's now my biggest nightmare. $5000 and TRUE ruined my new set Video Sponsored by Ridge Wallet: Use Code “TRAVSUCKS” for 10% off your order www.ridge.com/TRAVSUCKS
The old pads are worn in and the thigh rise is rounded in more probably from you leaning on them with your arms to get rest between shots . So not fair to say they're not that close .No two gloves will ever be the same anyway . The set looks sick on you just enjoy .
At this point it’s just for attention. The size of a 2 year old pad will always be smaller than a brand new one. You see the top curled up from the weight you’ve put on it for the past 2 seasons. The blocker/glove look the same…again; a 2 year old glove will undoubtedly have a different feel.
Congratulations on the new gear! Although I am not a fan of all white pads, your new set looks good. As well, a little Loctite Blue, on the toe tie bridge bolts will ensure that they don't loosen prematurely.
Used pads foams are gonna break down no matter what stiffness you get, once those new ones get brown down for about a month or so do another size comparison in a vid and show us.
Great review man, love the outdoors setting! From here it looks very similiar, just a few subtle changes, but ofc the wrong "feel" is often a dealbreaker for sure.
The pads are bent more and have some kind of torsion, it's visible even on the camera. Plus maybe they did shrink a bit, as the older vaughn pads did. I wouldn't be angry about it, as you will get used to it really easily and there isn't much difference. The blocker and glove part is a bit sad tho 🥲
So, you just said a few months ago, on record, that the greatest piece of goalie equipment that you have ever owned was your Bauer custom skates. Now, you state, in this video, that your Lefevre catcher is the best piece of gear that you have ever owned! So, which one is it?
Hey trav. I sure enjoy ALL your videos. I used to play 2- 3 times in a pick up game each week back in Smith, Ab. We had lots of fun, but I moved away and then the hockey in that town completely stopped. Then the horse owners took over the arena and kicked out any skating / hockey. Anyway, keep up the good videos and what ever your working on. Calvee, the goalie....
sorry to hear guy but as we are finding out more and more every day 'new' does not always equate to BETTER....sad but true....hopefully you will find them more to your liking once they are 'broken in' more....take care man.
nice looking set. click bait as usual. I still believe you could have a wider bf flair and you could close the five hole a lot better even tho you use a short thigh raise. You do exactly what I do, don't drive the knees together and when we go to the BF we bring the feet together instead of spreading them is a learned movement and I also have a narrow flair but for have a two pandemic years of bad sitting position.
@@trav4oilers I know it's related on how our hips are constructed and how everyone's hip is unique. I know I can have a wider flair because I had it, during the pandemic I wasn't as lucky as you were and did not see any Ice and not following my own advice I sat in a bad posture for too long during the days maybe you can't make a wider flair but you can close that five hole and for how you move I asume you can ad about 1 or 1.5 inches to your flair...not to much but it can be the diference between a goal and a save.
Definitely thought it was gonna be a ccm or Bauer set but it looked good can’t wait to see the reviews from ya brotha Good to see can’t wait for more on ice action See ya in the next one
So weird. After watching the first time with the gear, the one thing I noted was pucks weren't popping out of your glove. So in that aspect, again only from the video, it looks like either you made improvements in containing through technique or something with the glove is working to control those catches. The blocker was popping to the corner. I think the best thing to note is how often you got the stick to the puck and deflected it to the corner. Cool gear, love that they still have the best mobility in a blocker and hopefully the other two you will eventually fall in love with. Good luck.
Looks amazing, but personally I would just be happy with a decent set, been getting into the game late and stuff is expensive. Cheers thought very comprehensive review. Hoping I'll be ae to actually get some skates and be using your advice for the first time thus winter.
The last Koho 580 felt way different from the reebok that felt different from the ccm that also felt different from true 20.1’s 580 (had them all). 20.1 and reebox xlt were almost identical tho.
Hey trav as a goalie in game what do you usually tell or call out to your defensive men (if that makes sense) like for example letting someone know they’ve got an opponent coming up from behind them while they try to get the puck off the boards stuff like that
Also that Segway into the ridge add was clean also, I know u loved the g4 glove a ton did you like the lefevbre one better? The video made it seem as if u did. Sorry I probably butchered the name
It not Lefevre that move to China and got sloppy. But True that move that move the Lefevre design to China like C.C.M. did before. I had my first mask in 1980 done by Michel the same day as Michel Laroque did is. And I had many pads and mask after that. But once he sign with Reebok he was not allow anymore do personal order only pro.
You trashed True a year ago then proceed to buy a new set of their gear? Then, big surprise, you trash them again. I was wrong to think this might actually be a real review with a misleading click bait title. Sounds like you got a good deal from Warrior and Pete though. 😂
It’s Trav? When he’s not sucking off the chicklets Instagram comments section for attention he’s doing it with trash videos with shit clickbait titles. I’m shocked you expect anything quality out of this bum
Watching this video as I'm installing my SECOND set of Trav2 ProLaces (for my second set of pads--first pair are still going strong). What the hell are you doing picking up your new set in the Saguenay Lac St-Jean region? If Lefevre was Excalibur, is your 20.2 set Nextcalibur then?
Trev, great video, but I never thought you'd buy True. Many in Russia play it just because it's fashionable. No more. Bauer or Vaughn are much more technical I think. For convenience, I do not know, I did not play. But those who have played have mixed reviews.🤔 For that kind of money, I would never buy this set, but who knows...
@@ilyazhitomirskiy9218 they are on par with the top brands. Not used because they simply dont know and dont want to spend the money to test, and its definitely not a status symbol to use some obscure russian gear (in addition to current events) no matter how good it is
The old pad is curved the new one is still straight, thats the difference. If you have 2 seasons/2 years used gloves ofcourse they feel different. New is allways different feeling, stiffer more ridgit. This review was bullshit. Iam fan of the chanel but this was biased.
You may be right but that’s why it’s a review. It’s my point of view. I have biases and preferences. I try to give you all the information and you decide what to do with them
Congratulations on your new set ! I thought you might go with Warrior or Bauer but hey, whatever works for you. Let us know how you like it over time bud !
I dont know… having their logo on your gear and custom ordering it sends mixed signals. I know you said you paid for it. But still. Just seems disingenuous.
Great review it sucks that they ruined some stuff I was thinking of getting true pads b/c I have the E4.9 Ccm leafave pads and love em, but now I’m thinking for getting some axis from sideline swap so idk but GREAT REVEIW!
How is the sliding and stability on the leg pads between the 20.2 and 20.1 now that the 20.2 has a reinforced knee block and rigid nylon strap? I swapped in a rigid nylon strap for the elastic on the 20.1. Sliding and stability improved…but would still get pad face down from time to time.
