As for the ending of True Detective season four, now that I've slept on it, I've come to a few conclusions: 1. Some I liked 2. Some I didn't 3. Some of it was surprising and well thought-out 4. Some of it was half-baked basehead bullshit. 5. The biggest feeling is one of being offended, for the low-hanging fruit of the memberberries

I really liked this season, but not as part of True Detective. If it was a thing of it's own, it would've been amazing. It had a weird dark comfiness to it. I love mysteries and stories that happen in the cold.

It was a hilarious ending. Basically everyone in the little town knew except them and they were such bad detectives with their head up their arse they couldn’t figure it out till the crappy ending. I’ve seen better mysteries on scooby doo. They never explained why all the men acted like pregnant women and why the women acted like the worst men ever.

I agree with you: Hate supernatural explanations! And while I like open-ended questions, I think (as this point anyway) this show has too many. Maybe a second viewing will clear up some things. Yes, there are too many loose ends to add uo to a powerful ending.

This season felt a littlebit forced, rushed and lazy. It wasn´t bad but all of this supernatural, seeing ghosts, one coverup after the next, oranges appering everywhere because one of the leads mother used to like them?? and why did they need to use the spiral sign when it hadn´t anything to do with the cult from the first season

Ya I would like to know if they expected to get 8 episodes like previous seasons when they wrote it. There is a ton of potential and I think that's what bothers me the most about it. I'm OK with things being left unanswered since it was established in the first episode, everyone is an unreliable narrator due to the water. But it was a bit excessive, and I can only hope it was due to editing to down. Also I guess none of the aboriginal men were capable of helping, that kinda came across as completely forced and stupid due to historical and cultural tribe dynamics.

@@2011USA2011 EMPOWERED WOMAN THEME? Are you insane? They killed 8 men with zero evidence of their guilt. How the hell do they know it wasn't just one or two of the scientists who killed Annie and the rest were innocent? They didn't even kill the boyfriend.......you know that guy acting strange, THE MOST LIKELY SUSPECT. Also the way Annie died doesn't even match up with the video. If Clarke is an unreliable narrator, they why does the flashback show us the truth that he suffocated Annie. Was the flashback lying too? So the flashback is telling us the truth about who killed Annie but is lying about the lights going out and Annie destroying research equipment? This is such embarrassingly insulting writing that the positive reviews are pathetic.

What was with Navarros Wool hat (or beannie) changing colour from orange (when she wandered out into the storm) to teal or green/blue (after she saved danvers)
@crozraven

Both Annie K & her sister Julia has strokes of blue hairs. The cleaning ladies also wore blue hairnet in first episode. So maybe the blue beanie might be trying to represent the changing of Navarro to be more "woke" with her origins. It could also be a sign of death/afterlife since Annie K & Julie & maybe also Hank (who painted his house blue) died in the ice.
@crozraven

This season finale turn out to be pretty bad & overall the whole season is even more disappointing than season 2 imo. For anyone that looking a far better story with similar setting & themes, I really recommend movie "Wind River" instead & maybe Fargo TV series season 1. The only thing that I missed from my predictions is Raymond Clark being the typical bad guy mad scientist, instead of a disturbed traumatized men who was taking revenge on his own colleagues. Honestly it make no sense for Raymond Clark to even go into hiding from everyone when he didn't even kill the scientists. If anything, he could go to witness protection or maybe being privately secured by Kate (Silver Sky Mining) so they can bury all of their illegal mining stuffs & closing the case permanently on who killed scientists. Everyone suddenly are so dumb somehow, especially in a blizzard. None of that mass psychosis from water poisoning too, just actual supernatural shenanigans. I still don't get how the native ladies came to a conclusion that ALL of the scientists killed Annie K. It was at best purely conjecture from their POVs, just like how they blamed the mine people before it. Annie K found footage also very different with what being shown to us in flashback scenes. She was being grabbed immediately before even destroyed research stuffs. I would argue this lame season is a lame ripoffs of "Wind River" & a bit of "Fargo" too but losing all of its meaningful thematic storytelling IRL problems, especially when it's not grounded & gone supernatural haywire. I would argue it may possibly insulting to the natives too. It's practically a comical caricature horror storytelling of another female empowerment where all woman are victims (but "strong") while all men are bad or deserve to get shieate on. As expected, the season 1 supposed connections are meaningless baits to attract fandom. I am not even talking about many plot holes & inconsistency of characters behaviors.

Let's just go FullRidiculous".. awful..

The problem with this is Season 1 supernatural aspects are a glooming psychosphere that much grounded, like a hidden lore inside the main lore. Meanwhile in this show, it has taken over & became a caricature horror, add to pivotal stuffs that could not be explained rationally except magical/supernatural stuffs just happened. That's not "open" for interpretation, but a lazy & cheap storywriting.
