The show is not about solving the crime. Most "clues" lead nowhere And go unexplained. It's about the personal struggle of the lead characters.

Three episodes in and I am growing weary of rewinding to read over Haze's slurred dialogue. And it's in all three time periods, which includes his pre Altheimers. And mine too.

I think he's VERY interesting...he just can't tell a story. The majority of M.A.'s lines are delivered in one to two or three word sentence's with long pauses in between. It would take three hours for this character to read a page consisting of five or six paragraphs. I think I would have cast a more dynamic actor in the role of "Purple Haze" Like Wood Harris, or Anthony Mackey maybe.

My watching two episodes of the new series of "True Dectective" season 3, I'm very disappointed. The acting of the main character Mahershala has flaws, in my opinion isn't top notch as some feel here. No matter what time frame or age Mahershala's depicting he does mumble thoughout the series, can't understand him (the dialogue) which is an importance in order to follow the story. The premise of 3 time periods is too confusing (jumping back and forth too much) does lose the flow of the story of solving the crime (case) of these 2 children. Most clues seem to lead nowhere and the story seems mostly about (is too much about) the personal struggles of the lead characters. Season 2 was a bummer as well. The script and acting in Season 1 of "True Detective" was superb starring Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson. Season 3 is not a winner in my book.

This is the season that creeped me the hell out when i went to go buy ramen and other miscellaneous items at my one stop grocery store. On top of it all, I had to take the recycling and garbage out, located at the end of the hall!!! I hate you HBO with a loving passion!!!!

Speaking of the car, why do young people, in this case, the whomever was responsible for the props, think that all the cars in the 70's-80's were rattle traps? Those factory stock hemis were BIG wolves in sheep's clothing, as were the GM and FoMoCo too. You could barely hear them, especially a police model, until you punched them. That's where the term "Prowl Car" came from.
