Excellent technique!! I like how you’re able to keep your feet centered over your pedals. Most people have their heels off the back of their pedals. Can you post a video showing the heel toe exercises you did to get such great technique.

I knew a pastor who used to a rock drummer when he played in service you would thought he was using something more than the single pedal setup he was just that talented.

The first movement is with the heel, but the blow is applied with the toe. In fact, there are no heel strikes, otherwise there would be nothing left of them

"makes the hard work easy?" If by "easy" you mean "you have to be almost exact with every stroke, as having the velocity all of way up makes each mistake way more noticeable," sure.

@@billy5505 he simply does not know how to do this and tries to lower such an "argument" to his level. and he doesn't understand. he will never make the same sound without a trigger. and if he tries, then it will already be a trigger. a stupid comment on his part

this man is playing with triggers, not inserting post-processing. this is a huge difference and what you are talking about is not the meaning at all

Have you explained that people need triggers and output speakers to sound like this? Heel-toe sounds like hot garbage without triggers, it's absolutely useless in any acoustic situation.
@ThomasMTV
@ThomasMTV 2 года назад
This is not acoustic situation 🗿
@johnnyleeedwards8492
@johnnyleeedwards8492 2 года назад
Generally speaking yes (myself included when I do double strokes on the feet). But That's not entirely true if you practice to even the second stroke out. There's a couple drummers out there that prove this. Ex rings if Saturn drummer Aaron has a couple videos on that topic and shows, with no triggers how it sounds when you practice evening your strokes out. Derek Roddy aswell has a few videos showing how he does double strokes, granted it's not his go to for double bass, he executes it with great power and makes it a point to do just that. But anyway, not trying to be rude but informative. I assume we all clicked on this video because we love drums lol cheers my friend
@Fripsify

There is not much metal in acoustic situation sir
@midinerd
@midinerd Год назад
Yeah, there's spheres to the whole metal drumming ecosystem. some people base it from acoustics, and then add a trig sweetener and mix the signals (a lot do that). some people are pure acoustic and I've heard heel-toe on acoustic where you think "ok wtf?!" sounds like a pure roll with a real drum and it's really inspirational. then further in the electronic direction there's mesh-head usages where you basically do "drags" and get multiple hits just from pedal pressure. in the same argument that rollerblading is easier than skating, we'd say they're both tools with their difficulty curves and the excellence of both should be impressive - so there's probably still a lot of room/ways people can go to really bend this genre the more they augment their playing with their tools. right? There's room for improvement in the scene in general, and going further in the tech/future direction of drumming and double-bass is totally possible. people who complain about things being cheating or misrepresentative are the same people who would confuse a meatgrinder and chopsticks

Southwest do you play metal without trigger regardless of any foot technique? If you do then enjoy triggerless metal drummer 😅😂😂 same as in guitar you need to use distortion if you are playing Rock or metal. But if u only use acoustic for rock or metal it could also be but it's not nice 😅😅😅😅

What is the purpose to own a great drums kit but destroy the beautiful accoustic sound by triggers... With auto tune, triggers, over editing even musicians are becoming the slaves of machines.

@@billy5505 don't be so défensive im not even a drummer, but my drummer can. Like Gene Hoglan always said. If youre using triggers to get the right speed and want to be heard, dont play that speed. We are human and not machine. Right now you are the machine...

@@billy5505 And the reel question is. Why bother to buy a 2000-3000$ drum kit to be hide behind a digital sound? This is what i love about jazz and ghospel. No shit editing, no over compression, no triggers just the beautiful sound of a great instruments and talents
@billy5505
@billy5505 2 года назад
@@davidmorneau5260 1. You didn't need to tell me you're not a drummer. People who hate on triggers either a) aren't drummers, or b) are shit drummers with no understanding of their usage. 2. I can play these speeds without triggers, too. Doesn't mean it sounds good. If your kick drum has so little sustain that it DOES sound good, your slower playing will sound like shit as well (see any of Bury Your Dead's kick samples from their first few albums). 3. Fun fact: that's not his quote. He's against quantizing, not the use of samples. Fear Factory and SYL both use triggers. Most drummers you've heard post '04 do. 4. If you think triggers aren't used in jazz and "ghospel" (sic), you're sorely mistaken again. 5. Triggers do way more than just play a sampled sound. Try gating your snare to other mics without a trigger while getting the same results. If you can tell the difference between a triggered kit and an acoustic one, the drummer either has shit triggers with no dynamics, and/or they're using shit samples they either recorded themselves or got for free on reddit. As for WHY you'd do it, how about a) no tuning drums, b) instant midi files to send to other artists/producers, c) better gates for recording, d) more tuning variations available on the fly, e) not limited to acoustic sounds, f) the ability to play acoustic drums over triggered samples of other musical pieces (think an interactive backtrack)... i could go on, but I think I've made my point.

@@billy5505 ok... Lombardo, Hoglan, Portnoy, Vinnie Paul, Gavin Harrison, Sean Reinert, Ron Bruner, Josh Freeze, Nick Menza, Travis Barker to name a few are bad drummers? No... They love the shop and the organic sound of an actual drum set. Stay hiding behind your sample and want to prove to yourself you are the tone of your drum... Oups, you sound like an electronic drum set!
