This is the worst case scenario for the US. I used to read about how past empires fell due to corruption, aging political representatives and the degradation of public infrastructure, but I never imagined I would be watching that happen in front of me only a couple decades later. We have a daughter here who lives in New York so that would give us pause about leaving her behind. We're looking at Portugal and perhaps Spain or somewhere like Montenegro or Croatia.
