Judge Juan Merchan once again cited former President Donald Trump for violating the gag order he imposed on the trial and warned he could face jail time “if necessary” for continuing to ignore it. But this is not nearly the first time Trump has been both warned and fined. Judge Merchan previously found that Trump violated the gag order in nine other instances and fined him $9,000. While that’s the line currently drawn in the sand by Judge Merchan, what remains to be seen is what happens when Trump violates the gag order again. Have any of you even paid attention to this trial? The states own witnesses have already sunk their case. Trump's accountant said he made the labels at the heart of this case without any instructions from Trump. "They were going to his lawyer so they were legal fees" That makes the gag order ridiculous, the rest of this trial is just a formality toll his aquittal and the only reason is still going is to keep Trump from campaigning.

I understand why the Justice system is avoiding incarcerating Trump because it will create another delay (just what Trump wants), so here's the perfect solution: At the end of each court session, hold him in a jail cell until the next session starts. That way, the trial goes on, and Trump cannot "grandstand" outside the courtroom or on the courthouse steps. Problem solved.

I normally agree with you and Glenn wholeheartedly. However, on this one point, I can see what Merchan was doing - he is doing everything he possibly can to avoid any possibility of being painted as heavy handed if he does jail trump, and trump's team appeal it. If that is the case, there is no way in the world an appeals court could look at the events and conclude that the judge has been too harsh on trump. I think merchan is appeal proofing the eventual inevitable decision he knows he'll have to make to jail trump. Cannon on the other hand... there is nothing but utter corruption, and Americans should be seethingly angry and demand her removal. When is it time to take to the streets in peaceful protest?

He may not go after family members of certain employees, the witnesses, or the jury. These things are also meant to protect Trump, as in giving him a better chance of a fair trial. Glenn brings out a great point about Trump being treated differently than another defendant would be, but unfortunately, the judge's remarks only illustrate the fact that Justice is NOT blind! And not only in this trial. The Supreme Court, which has at least four members who appear to be financially compromised, is doing whatever it can, to favor Trump! Have noticed that mothers of small children who keep saying, "Now don't do that," more than once, don't actually carry out the consequences of the behavior and the kid keeps it up. Discipline teaches. So why isn't he being taught? He doesn't get it until he is disciplined. He wants his own way.
