Living in Costa Rica doesn't mean I don't pay attention to the politics in the United States or all over the world for that matter. I love my life in Costa Rica, watching from a far but I do love the US and I care what happens and I am somewhat of a political junkie, so there's that. But of course I watched the Trump/Biden debate. Unfortunately, all the issues folks care about were basically irrelevant during this debate- the economy, immigration, abortion, proxy wars etc because all eyes were on the real time disintegration of President Joe Biden. This train wreck is not up for debate, everyone saw it. But I do have a few things I want to say because I need to get them off my chest... lol. Let me know your views, I am always up for other perspectives whether I agree with them or not. muchas gracias

I’m with you-he probably hasn’t been capable of doing the job for years making it absolutely insane that this whole machine is foisting his barely alive carcass on us as a candidate for another four years. I. Would vote for Biden’s head in a jar as Bill Maher says. A vote for anyone else is a vote for trump. But i appreciate your insight. It’s unfortunate that the 2 viable candidates are the choices Trump doing nothing for 127 minutes on Jan 6 alone but there are so many other things that literally freak me out about trump much more then Biden stepping down in a year and Kamala taking over

I am more worried about the guy who cozies up to Putin then the guy who said we bow down to no one It’s heartbreaking and scary that we are at this point as a country. I fear if trump wins my grandchildren will live in a world unrecognizeable to the one we love. If you haven’t read any of project 25 please do. It’s 900 pages but you can find explanations of it if you don’t want such a huge read It’s the gop plan for the future. I wish we had better choice. But to not choose is in reality still making a choice

@@TheFppeters First off, obviously we would probably both agree these are NOT the 2 candidates we would have hoped for. I have read Project 25. That is the Heritage Foundations wish list for the direction they want the conservative party to go. But there's also another one, America First Policy Institute, similar but with a different approach. They are both vying for Trumps ear (obviously if he gets re-elected). You will not find any article saying that Trump endorses Project 25. But you will find plenty of propaganda scaring the hell out of people saying that is the direction Trump is going. More than likely he will pick and choose who he surrounds himself with from both 'think tanks'. But it doesn't mean he will apply everything or anything. Trump has proven he frequently goes his own way. No different than having a Liberal agenda like lets say for example, the relaxation of crime or immigration. Obviously there's more to it... but not getting into it here. The ironic thing is, I wouldn't vote for either one of them. Thanx for sharing... always nice to have civil discourse.

Spot On, Michael. My tica wife and I decided exactly 3 1/2 years ago to move here, for me, to get away from the extreme polarization and deranged hatred in the country I love. After taking care of my father with dementia for 5 years, it was completely obvious that the man placed into the Oval Office was suffering the same fate, even then. And I knew that it would get far worse and it has. Now I just want to live out my remaining years in peace. Sadly, it seems that many expats still want to bring that anger and division here with them. Pura Vida.

One thing certainly not needed in Costa Rica is American Politics. Leave that behind. I have avoided other Americans the past 12 years because all will bring their politics. My word for those is to remain in the US and not spoil things where it is unwanted.

There's no way in a million years I could ever vote for Trump. And I'm one of those people who thinks Biden has done a good job up to this point. But I'm also one of those who expected him to follow his own original plan and be a one-term president just to try to get us out of the muck and then open it up to the next generation. I'm very annoyed that he did not follow through with that, and now will not acknowledge that the voters are not comfortable with him as their president anymore. People get old, it's okay, we have to shift our focus as the years creep up. I think there are others who could have beaten Trump, and there still are. I hope he listens to what the entire country is telling him and bows out like LBJ. But I don't think he's going to do that unless all the other bigwigs in the party tell him that they won't support him. I'm sad, I'm a fan of Joe, wish he could just come to terms with aging. I felt the same way about Ruth Bader Ginsburg, and now I don't have the right to have an abortion in my own fucking country

As a Canadian my perspective is a bit different, indirectly it affects our country, but I honestly didn't think either candidate is fit to lead. There are multitudes of videos showing both candidates in varying states of decay (for lack of a better term). It's concerning/upsetting to me that these are the two candidates. The news media is so corrupt/biased now it's hard to watch. Your perspective as always is greatly appreciated. Thanks as always for your continuing work!

Giving a speech is such a different skill set and requires so much less processing then listening and responding to moderators and an opponent. Biden had so many opportunities to call Trump out on lie after lie and Biden didn’t. The format of muted mics, which the Biden camp wanted, actually hurt Biden as he got exposed.

There is a reason you need to care about US politics in Costa Rica , is that it really controls pricing on the products, ie. inflation that kills the lower classes more than the lower classes. We need strong leader ship that can command leadership on the world stage. Where we headed with this 😅 leadership to disaster.

Sadly some people will watch that debate and still vote for Biden. Personally, I don't think I can vote for either of the two-party systems as Trump has committed blasphemy by adding to the Bible. I agree with him on most of his core beliefs, maybe not how he expresses them. But adding text to the Bible even if it was just in the back separated was enough for me. All I can say is enjoy the political theater and as long as they keep us hating each other they will always win.

I wasn't really concerned about his answers, although there were a few times I didn't understand what he was saying.... I'm just concerned about his cognitive decline and the fact he would be 86 when he leaves office if he is to get re-elected. Ly, you are spot on. Content wise Biden covered way more ground than Trump. And during the past few years Biden has passed multiple pieces of legislation that are popular with the US public. But we rarely hear about that and instead hear about doom and gloom.
