Carl Bailey actually, the English language in and of itself is a “mutilation” of a multitude of other languages that has been compiled over centuries to create its own language. Beyond that though, there is a cultural meaning behind the altering of “proper” English. When African Americans were enslaved and forced to come here they kept their culture alive in part through the altering of English words to be more reflective of their own native language. They shortened words and inserted more vowels because that was closer to how they spoke before they were forced to come here. The English language is a beautiful mess of contradictions. It’s one of the hardest languages to learn. It’s actually people that insist “proper” English be learned that are inhibiting it’s evolution. Shakespeare straight up invented new words and broke every grammar rule ever, and he’s held up as a pioneer of what the English language can do. Don’t be too hung up on what’s “proper” because if you do your research, you’d realize there is no such thing in language.
