At first Trump scared me - now I am more afraid of all the people that voted for him or will vote for him because they will vote for the next dangerous candidate that runs for office. I no longer trust the good sense or intelligence of my fellow Americans to the extent I used to.

I studied Adult Children and involved with individuals, groups and otherwise since 1989. This is a generational dis-ease, past on. I had started 2 separate ACoA & other Dysfunctional Families back in 2014 when I was alerted to the book, 'the big red book.' For Alcoholics, Dry Alcoholic, Adult Children, it was the book and program they were looking for. I started these two Open to public meetings at a local hospital in Louisville, KY. Within 3 months I had to leave the group for fear of my life. Why? I was mistaken for an authority figure all along requesting the members to keep with the suggested structure of the program laid out by fellow Adult Children who founded the program 40 years past. Even tho' it's suggested to have security and a phone in the room, which I did, Adult Children in their 50, and 60s were triggered and wildly out of control. To the point physical harm was imminent as I was told as such by some members suggesting to harm me publically in the room! You can see narcissist and extreme Codependents rise as tho' the room has now becomes the memories of past experiences. It's serious and very scary. The book is a fascinating yet revealing look, discovery and chance to recover one's past by personally re-parenting the inner child. Check it out! I'll guarantee you every control freak, to lobbyist has a copy of this book, to see the inner most fear pain of the past unresolved past trauma, to trigger control and abuse the souls of an Adult Child unaware. Be Well, Don't let anyone steal your joy. Not even an Adult Child who could be very very sick untreated.
Not a politician on the planet who does not show some kinds of narcissism etc - to label all voters as bad makes you a sick individual - Trump is fine and he has done an ok job - Only the second President in USA history not to start another war - bringing jobs back to the people and protecting freedom of speech for all. Might want to remove your post.
It's remarkable how easy it is to identify a narcissist once you've been victimized by one. They operate out of the exact same handbook of dirty trucks. My stepfather was creating a "gage bees" bubble around my mom 35 years ago, but it took me 25 years to figure out what was happening. When trump camez along, i could tell immediately what was happening. I have to remind myself, most people are still lost in that 25 year discovery period.
It's amazing how well you described his presidency, before his presidency...Four years ago, you either had a crystal ball or you know what you're talking about. Thanks for the content
The very thing I, as an NPD victim, have been saying all along, even before the candidacy. Thank you Sam for confirming this, in the most final and decisive way. There is no greater expert on narcissism. Much respect in all extents.
Dr, Vaknin, I am the daughter of a mother who had NPD. I am also an American living in the United States and am deeply troubled by the election of Donald Trump as our next president. Although I have first hand experience and insight into the operations of a person with NPD ,and have predicted much of his behavior, I would like to hear what you have to say. You have guided me well over the years and actually helped me survive my mother's acid reign. I was hoping to never experience this again ,but now my whole country will be impacted by the disorder. I see so many around me exhibiting, depression, anxiety, fear and disbelief jus as I lived through throughout my life with her. I know what Trump has done ,why he has done it and what he will do next, but most don't. If you were to cover this subject, I could share it widely and perhaps help people understand and help guide them how to endure. Thank you.
Marijane Bujold You people are just as sick as your boy trump. Every time we talk about the person in the Oval Office making decisions that affect us all, you just can't let Hillary go. Pay attention and stay on topic! But you can't because something's wrong with you, too
@@niccolea2086 Reading comprehension is not your strong suit is it? Perhaps you should read Ms. Bujold comment again. Where does she state she supports DJT?
You and I are in the same boat. My mom married a narcissist 35 years ago. Even though I was a teenager, I remember the grooming process. My mom would say "I've never met anyone who is always right about everything!". We didn't realize just how dangerous that was. Over the years and decades he programmed my mother against me and my sister, and when we confronted her about his behavior, she turned it around and said we're attacking and abusing her. For my stepfather is all an ego game that he has to "win" at all costs, even as he destroys my mother in the process. This is just as Trump destroys the country as he attempts to "win" the election that he cannot bear to acknowledge he lost.
Almost election 2020 and Trump has not miss a step of your description and definition of the malignant narcissist we US citizens chose as president. We are in danger indeed. Thank you Dr. Vaknin!
My kids father is a malignant narcissist. Yes, lacking intellectual curiosity because he already knows everything. Ha ha! Once in a while he would say, "I know everything. There is nothing more for me to know." He will not take any advice, only his own even while he is driving the bus right off the cliff. And he completely feels he is universally loved--even by people who are very vocal about loathing him. He believes he does not make mistakes and if anything wrong happened, it is somebody else's fault. I think anybody who has has a crazy maker like this in their life can smell the narcissistic stink of Trump a mile away!
I saw Trump say in front of hundreds of people " My buildings my wealth and my success is all proof of my greatnes." If it quacks, looks, and walks like a duck. Guess what? It's a duck. A narcissistic duck that is.;D
I saw the look in trumps eyes when he realized he was going to be president, i sensed the confusion and the" what am i doing here" look in his eyes, revealing for a second, his unsecure self, behind the mask. But hey, he fits perfectly into the universal mind, welcome to the crazy train.. ALLL ABOOOOOOARD....
I absolutely agree that hes a narcissist. I just hope more people become aware. The one thing I haven't noticed about trump is fits of rage. I have a narcissist in my family, and when confronted about anything they completely lose their mind. Is this something that he might do just behind closed doors, or is that a completely different type of narcissism?
Cameron Boyce well there lots of daily reports, leaks from his administration that he throws lots of fits. He makes people in his staff cry and their leaking info constantly because they want us to know about the chaos their dealing with daily. They're having to walk on egg shells and many of them are worried. Not sure where you get your news but it's out there.
Peer-reviewed studies also reveal related facts about Trump's constituency. Trump voters score lowest in standard measures of cognitive skill and empathy when compared with Democrats and traditional Republicans. (Ganzach, et.al.) Trump voters also score high in Authoritarianism - subservience to authority. (Vitriol, et.al.)
@@justinw2232 they were armed with sticks maze and other improvised weapons, they were following the orders of their dear leader, and took over the most important center of democracy, they were lucky the armed detail at the capitol was ill prepared for a confrontation, otherwise it would have been a bloodbath. And Trump loved it, "you're very special" "we love you" "remember this day forever" he said, what a fucking shit bag that guy is.
And now, it's confirmed by an expert. Thank you for helping me not gas light myself in to thinking it's other than I discerned, initially. I appreciate your expertise.
i have been watching his video for years. he is a narccissist himself who seek changes, but never will. he found teaching and knows how a narccissist is like. Trump is just a reflection of him.
The bottom line for me is not whether someone is "good or bad." Of course we all have the capacity to do "evil" or good, but we also all make choices. When we choose to harm others, regardless of motives, that's not OK,. I don't think people who harm others are "the same" as people who don't intentionally go out of their way to harm other people for sport, like narcs do. I consider those without the capacity for empathy to be something "other than" human.
Thank you for this statement - your work is respected and valued - it is complete in detail- thus - I value it and the additional information I have learned from your shared work - in this area. In and above my classroom credits -
Thankfully he was not able to hide who he really is. This is the biggest flaw in narcissism. They can't hide who the really are So healthy minded people will see it throw.
Dear Professor Waknin what about Silvio Berlusconi the former Italian PM? A friend who was a reputed Italian psychoanalist once said the same about Berlusconi. Thank you for your precious online advices.
What are your thoughts on Trump now? After the latest book, Fire and Fury, reads "Everybody was painfully aware of the increasing pace of his repetitions. It used to be inside of 30 minutes he’d repeat, word-for-word and expression-for-expression, the same three stories - now it was within 10 minutes. Indeed, many of his tweets were the product of his repetitions - he just couldn’t stop saying something." What advice would you give to those around Trump? How can the Democratic Senators and Congressmen manipulate him to achieve their legislative goals (DACA, CHIP funding, opposition to Medicare/SS gutting) without loosing their support from Democratic voters and a party-wide swing to the far left? Is that possible?
MetteC5 My statement was not intended as a comment on Trump's popular support or democratic legitimacy. What I meant is that Trump personifies the paradox of the American cultural identity today - which is the simultaneous performance of contradictory forces: their claim to be the noble defenders of self-determination contrasted with their entrenched global hegemony of economic dominance and exploitation.
Thank you Sam. It's scary, that in my mind's eye, I see his hand hovering over the big red button that is definitely NOT 'for training purposes only!' That's the main thing that stopped me laughing.
Maybe, maybe not. But he's an isolationist...isn't that what the international community wants...less American intervention? Oh, wait...European NATO members are getting spooked about the possibility of having to pay for their own defense.
The European governments maybe but not the people. Also, Isolationism hasn't really worked all that well for America in the past. Besides, Trump is not completely isolationist. He wants America to remain the "top dog" but he says that NATO has to start paying for their "protection". Which isn't going to happen for obvious reasons. Why pay another country, when you can do it yourself?
Thank you for giving those of us who know this truth in the core of our souls, the tools to pass this critical info on. "fully & masterfully explained in your trump videos.
not just Trump-----------look at how many of our alleged leaders are like this so what is wrong with we the people individually and collectively tolerate such people ? A good example un-necessary HOA and their board members
If people actually knew the traits and signs of being a narcissist they would realize they wouldn't have to look real far to find a narcissist. Starting with the mirror would be the first place most would find that first case.
Narcissism is a part of a healthy ego. It's good to love yourself, in fact you can't truly love anybody if you don't love yourself. But narcissistic personality disorder isn't just a healthy moderate portion of narcissism. It's narcissism gone extreme, it's egomania to the point where you only love yourself where you are unable to feel shame and unable to sincerely care for other people than yourself.
Unfortunately, until a better moment comes, I live with such a weirdo. Luckily, I am not affected emotionally because I have inner strength & confidence.
The fact that this video only has 6,000 views is alarming, we now have a president with npd. how would you advise America to go "no contact" with this person...when he's crawling into our lives through tv and affecting the moods and beliefs of those around us?... what outcome would you predict from this person?
My "compassionate" therapist who I was getting thearpy for from my malignant narc husband loved Trump I expressed to her that he was just like my husband. Her mask fell, her face changed and she said no, oh no I don't see that all.
Also this is one of a couple perspectives on the net on Trump as a youth. www.thepoliticalinsider.com/man-lived-trump-50-years-ago-just-dropped-bombshell-whoa/. I just dont get it.
Amazing, right? It was always clear to most people (particularly outside the US) that trump is incredibly self-centered and dangerous, but Sam was absolutely on point about how his presidency would play out. But its very scary that so many people could vote for this type of individual. I guess the display of supreme confidence is appealing, given that most of us grapple with an inferiority complex. Ironically, people like trump are actually more insecure than most, so much so that they cannot even entertain the idea that they can do wrong or have shortcomings. Really, we should feel sorry for Trump, as he is more or less a child emotionally. He needs to face consequences for his actions, to set a standard to those who are tempted to abuse power, but it's very sad that someone could find themselves behaving so recklessly without understanding they are in the wrong.
0n 9th October 2020 I watched a speech given by Nancy Pelosi and an historian on the 25th Amendment to a waiting press.Seems that Trump's mental state is to be questioned about continuing to be fit enough to preside over the American people.
What are your sources that he regards himself as perfect? If anything, his business was built on delegating, implying trust and knowledge that others can do tasks that he cant.
Now that I know more about narcissism the behaviors and traits ( he's for sure a malignant narcissist) America is in big trouble . Unfortunately those who voted for him got roped into the charm and talking a good game, and will soon enough be kicking themselves.
The videos in front of audiences are not relevant. It's heavily displaying his persona in those. His real personality is best shown in low key interviews. He's very smart and rational. Not at all self delusional. But this might be hard to get if one does not understand from where he's coming.
He alsoo has to clean up the mess caused by Obama. His economic policy will work and restore the economic freedom for the American people that is required in order to get the economy back on track. I study Economics so i am confident that his economic will work. However, I think that he does gain a serious amount of narcissistic supply from constantly mentioning the mess that Obama has caused. I think that is why he has waited until things have got this bad in the American economy so he can be the hero and step in. However, I have to say I genuinely believe Hilary Clinton would be a much worse choice. She is a complete sociopath. She is extremly dangerous and if you look at her track record in government you will see this.
Please...explain what you mean about "the mess caused by Obama". That phrase is thrown around constantly by right wingers with no proof of any mess, unless you all have simply made it up. Anything or anybody that Donald Trump insults or puts down is simply a projection of himself...look at him in that way and you'll see the real Donald Trump. Watch him...listen to him... in light of the football, the biscuit and 6 minutes.
We still shouldn't have a blatant narcissist as president. They can't see beyond their own vision of themselves. Trump has increased national debt by trillions. No one else could get away with that, esp a Democrat. He also has set it up that the corporations, who do not have to pay much in taxes, put all of that "savings" into their revenue and none of it "trickles down." thus there is very little money for anything else like infrastructure and everything else that it takes to keep the country running. Just think, Cheney with his multi billion per year income (he said in an interview with Charlie Rose that his revenue went up four billion per QUARTER with fracking, and he still has war equipment contract with NO bids so he charges what he wants) pays little tiny taxes on all of this. Go to the business section of the newspaper and watch their profits grow with each of these. No matter who was prior president, a malignant naracissist can't be anything but way worse.
@@margosparkle4299 lmao NPC Alart increased national debt by trillions wow someone got their info from CNN but also Obama left america in 20 trillion in debt since then trump got in down lmao i see your pull a strawman argument let me help you by shooting it down with ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-VlWCnA7TbNU.html
I wonder how Melania enters in this picture? What kind of treatment she receives by Trump? And if there is anything she can do to influence him or call him to reason?
Trump 10-29-17 has proven to able to listen to others advice. He has done an excellent job in Foriegn Relations. He is fighting for the common man. I think he maybe have a rockstar complex- but I think he is really trying to do the right thing. He is an older man- and he wants to do good.
I completely "get" the narcissistic traits you are talking about in terms of Trump and believe he like others are in good company in the White House . However Trump has overall run a successful business so he doesn't always surround himself with sycophantic yes men. Otherwise he'd have gone bust and remained so!
I agree, as I also agreed about your narcissistic diagnosis of Obama. At least he is on us conservative Christians side and we need a powerful , one minded person that can stand up to these liberal loonies! Please do this for Hillary and THe Bern!
Liberal loonies? You have no idea what the hell you are talking about. It’s YOUR party that is full of toxic personalities. Multiple research studies have already shown that Republicans lack empathy.
I have a lot of relatives with NPD. Now that Trump is president, I'm quite concerned about where we are headed as a nation. I've been watching old interviews of Trump and his being our commander in chief concerns me greatly. I hate to even think of it, but I believe that the possibility of WWIII while he is in office is quite real. He's so incredibly delusional, paranoid, vindictive and hateful.
This guy doesn't know what he's talking about. Anyone who's been trained in sales understands why Trump presents things in a grandiose manner. He's a salesman. It's what they do. Not to mention that after 18 months in Office, the sky isn't falling. Trump is doing a good job. Give credit where credit is due.
