This episode chronicles the building phase of our Trumpeter KV-1 project. The model built up easily but we did encounter quite a bit of flash and some gaps that will need filling. Sadly no figure in the box and no stowage accessories but otherwise for the price we do get clear parts and braided copper wire for our towing cables. We'll do our filling in part two as well we'll assemble the tracks after we've painted and weathered our running gear and hull. Tune in again for part two which will be following shortly.

I’m so used to build Tamiya kits. This would be my first Trumpeter kit. 😅

Great Video, thanks for the build and review of the kit. the odd brackets at 09.47 on the drive sprockets are to scrape out mud that would be building up and could potentially throw a track

Thanks luaghs. Nice to know I have supporting fire on these projects. Our Russian friends even helped us translate the slogan on the turret! Who could ask for more? Good luck on your projects!

Hey Azzy, thanks for stopping by and for commenting. Painting and weathering to start soon but I'm still up in the air about a green or winter paint job. Is this video too short?

Hey thanks Jon! Always nice to hear from you. Not sure if I should have made the video longer but I think it about covers the no-nonsense KV1.

The KV122 is a real beast. I have the ICM Liberty truck next but after that, who knows? I'll take a look at Bronco's KV122 in the meantime. Thanks for the note and suggestion!

Looks like a nice kit. It's too bad for Tamiya that you can buy TWO Trumpeter KVs for the price of ONE of Tamya's new tool KV kits. 😕 I'm a fan of Tamiya, but the price difference may be the deciding factor.
@stevieRay3211
@stevieRay3211 3 года назад
You hit the nail on the head with modeling the KV1. The Trumpeter kit trades time for money - it's cheaper but requires more time and patience. The newer Tam kits are becoming more expensive but virtually no flash, no filling and we get brilliant engineering for the money. Thanks for the comment JS.

What did you do (or steps you had taken) to get that final result of the tail light painted and installed?
@silvestersze9968

Hi, what grade (number) of the sanding stick do you generally use?
@stevieRay3211
@stevieRay3211 4 месяца назад
Hey Silvesterze - thanks for the note. I use the dual-sided ones, with 240 grit on one side and 120 on the other. That's a good general purpose sander. You may want to get additional finer ones if you really want a glass-like finish. There are other - how shall we say - better brands out there but if you're into saving a few bucks and don't mind a little extra work, then Trumpeter is okay. Hopefully you have some hobby mud around as the tracks have really bad push marks. Anyway, it's all covered in the videos. Good luck with the project!

@@stevieRay3211 Ahh… I see. I’m gonna get 240 to start out with. I’m currently just using a Tamiya file from one of the three-piece package/pouch. Thank you for the heads up! This’s really helpful. 😄

For the DeWalt clamps, are those 4.5 or 6 inches ones you were using?
@stevieRay3211
@stevieRay3211 4 месяца назад
The little bar clamps are 7 inchers. Yes, I reside in Canada - long winters, perfect excuse for hunkering inside and building models.
