TRX-4 High Trail in the wild at Whipps Ledges, a sandstone escarpment in Ohio with lots of awesome climbing and trailing and enjoying nature.
Cold day at ~30F. Slow shocks, wet/mud, leaves, loose sand, and stiff tires make for a challenging walk.
Truck has a little brass, wheels/tires, front mount battery, Dravtech Long shocks, some body and bumper work. F15wt/R25wt oil.
Tires are Proline Interco TSL SX Super Swampers 5.4” in G8 with mods I’m dubbing the OHIO cut. SSD 2.2 beadlocks.
Added DIY shock bands in front adjusted to pull down on the last half of extension, but slack near full compression. Allows full flex both ways under axle + wheel weight but axles won’t drop all the way if both sides go down (high center/etc). Limiting about 4-5mm on full double extension. Used a 3M dust mask (one of the nice ones with the wide elastic yellow bands) and zip ties. Shockingly clean install considering the engineer who did it.

Thanks so much! I really love a lifted old Chevy. The stock servo is pretty sad with the heavier tires. Going in soon is an AGF R/C SA75 direct power. let’s see if it will improve in future vidios

You should run the lizzard shocks and get rid of those coilovers. Nice vid

I’ve been wondering how the desert lizards perform? They look awesome but, i don’t know. What are the gains? Do you have a set?

@Jay yes I have them on my current setup. The videos aren't out yet, but I have a short video that shows the rig with them. If built properly the shocks work great. If you intend on crawling and trailing the pros are internal springs that can pull the shock up. No spring bounce like coilovers and more travel. It will lower your rig a bit. 100% better than the stock shocks

Did you remove the limiters on the shock shafts? I did and I lightened the preload on the shocks. Big improvement

You’re right, it was a huge improvement, especially with soft springs. The stock rate on the GTS is a little firm. And it needed some bodywork to allow the increase in up travel. In this video I’m running the long Dravtech shocks (advertised 112mm, as built 123mm e2e) which have about 31-32mm of travel. Compared to the GTS’s that came with the truck 110mm e2e at 35mm travel without limiters.
