I advice you to visit Bicol, where you see the perfect cone Mayon volcano...where you taste the best food cook from fresh coconut milk, spicy and so delicious...this province known for "gata" foods..like curry style. Tom yum of thai...the Filipino version is "sinigang" or sour soup cook in all fresh and healthy greens and clean meat of ypur choice. You may want to try the pinoy chicken curry...you might forget the thai curry. Explore FILIPINAS...be a travelpinoyfood guide vlogger ...Filipinos have more choices, variety and real!!

Hey Rob, Chrissy great topic for a video. Your discussion about Philippino food got me to thinking about my years in Korea and eating the foods there. Many of the same situations exist in all asian countries as in the Philippines, food hung out to be sold all day in the streets, food that is cooked sitting in pots all day and other such issues. If you know what you like and know what you are doing, even better if you have a local who can help explain things, you will have a much better experience. I also watched the video about your trip to Chrissy's home where she grew up. I immediately thought of the homes in Korea especially those out in the smaller villages. It was exactly the same. When you first encounter living conditions like that it is a bit surprising but you quickly learn that that is what is considered normal for them and you quickly learn to look past that and just enjoy yourself. I never thought less of the people who lived like that, it was just different than how I grew up. I always approached it as a new adventure and a chance to learn more about the people and culture both of which will be vastly different that mine, but different is not always bad. Embrace the adventure and strive to learn more about other cultures. In the end you will be surprised and may find yourself apprciating what you have even more! ! !

Thanks for featuring Filipino Foods. Very ironic some foreigners marry Filipina but hates pinoy food. In my opinion, those expats lives in Filipinas coz they cant afford to live in their own country. So they used marrying pinoy to survive but hates filipino food. If you want to know and understand each countries culture...it is a must to eat their food...then and only then you will have deep understanding why certain country and people are that way. You see many Mexican,Thai restaurant or Chinese every where but no Filipino restaurants...why is that? Because Filipinos are the most flexible person on earth...Filipinos are the easiest people can easily adapt to all types of tastebuds whatever part of the world! FILIPINOS are the most and kindest, friendliest and high hospitality culture on earth. For some wondering, why Filipinos look young...because they eat healthy food...not Microwavable food...FILIPINAS HAS billion varieties food. When you have 7,100 islands and 1000 islands only discovered and countless food you can choose...different islands in Filipinas have different dialect and different food. Goodjob for you for tackling this topic. Good job!

Hi Rob & Chrissy, It’s me Pete, 😎😉👍🏼. Chrissy nailed it, when she said, “she” can eat street food, but it doesn’t mean, it’ll always be safe, for “you” to eat it. Just like foreigners cannot drink the water in Mexico, the same thing applies to us in the Philippines. We cannot drink the water there, because we’ll catch. “Filipino” revenge, lol. I am Mexican-American, but grew up in California. My my ex-wife is from a small Mexican Village. Every time we went back to visit her family and mine in Mexico, my daughters and I always caught “ Montezuma’s revenge.” It’s basic biology 101, Mexicans already have the antibodies in their system from birth, so “they” are immune to the bacteria in the water. It’s the same thing with Chrissy, going back from generation for generation, Chrissy already has the antibodies in her body, so she is immune. Gio & Maya went to Thailand and toured many cities throughout the country, and saw some great sites, and Maya was able to eat all of the street foods. But Geo ended up paying for it, that night, lol. So, continue to keep your guard up, 😎😉👍🏼. Guys, you know I’m a big fan, and I love you both, but I’d like to ask the million dollar question. Rob, when Chrissy eats Balut, do you kiss her after that, lol, 🤢??? Sorry guys, when I move there, if my Asawa Ko, my Mahal eats Balut, she’ll have to chew a whole pack of gum, and chase it with some soda, before I kiss her, 😎👍🏼😉💋💋🥰🥰.

Pete, I know one thing for sure no one is going to cookBalut inside the house as far as kissing goes that’s a good suggestion. I’m willing to eat the street food in Thailand, but in general, I will not eat it here in the Philippines.

@@FlyMeToThePhilippines Hi Ron, smart man, lol, 😉😎👍🏼. Oh yeah, I hear that dried fish, really stinks of the house, too, 😷!!! Being from Arizona, and liking Mexican food, you’re probably familiar with “menudo.” It’s stinks up the house too, and I hate it, 🤢!!! It used to stink up the whole house, when my mother made it, and I used to gag, and my eyes would tear up, at the stench. 🤢😢!!! My ex wife is a great cook, but the moment we got married, I laid down the law. No cooking menudo. If she wanted it, she can buy it in the can, and she had to brush her teeth, lol!!! Rob & Chrissy, I hope you guys know, I love you guys, and am your biggest fan, 😎😉🙏🏼❤️. That’s brilliant! To find ingredients to make the foods you like. I’m an adaptable person and I am clear about the foods that are healthy for me. I also eat a lot of the roasted chicken. It’s amazing no one talks about the incredible amazing delicious fruits in the Phillipines. Americans are the most contentious people. They focus on what’s not right and don’t look at what is. The Phillipines fruit is so much better than that in the US. I love Filipino homemade fish soup. I am resourceful. When I go I meet Filipinas and ask them to teach me to Make foods. I make great Filipina friends and learn to adapt my tastes to the Filipino foods. I still can’t believe why foreigners complain about another country’s lifestyle when they choose to be there. That’s the American way. I love how calm Chrissy is. She’s a great model for non reactivity. Good video

30 years ago, Southwestern Americans voiced the very same prejudices or biases about Mexican foods that I'm hearing here, about Filipino foods. Americans characterized Mexican food as being always bland, or always greasy (the lard), or overly sweet, and either always overcooked or undercooked... So you see, similarly nasty words. And I admit it was hard to talk food on visits down there in Mexico (unless if you happened to be in Mexico City's fantastic upper-scale restaurants), compared to nowadays. As an older guy my takeaway is that this is a lot of cultural provincialism, plus a need to educate both sides. (Frying food is the most forgiving of all ways to cook foods, so it's a popular technique. Convenience and a full stomach were the most valued goals around food.) Today's Mexican food in Southwestern USA is highly varied, respected and sought after. Perhaps the Philippines will undergo a similar awakening on both sides of the issue in the next 20 years. I've seen similar arguments all over the world, especially border regions or where tourism takes hold. We need to have these conversations.

It isn't fair to compare Thai with Filipino food. Thai people aren't known as great sailors. They aren't known as the World's best nurses. Filipinos are both of the above. Thai people seem to need to open restaurants to find work. If the Filipinos weren't so good at what they do, perhaps Filipino food would be as world-famous as it should be. Call it greasy. Call it over-salted. But remember that both Chinese and Indian food has been adapted to suit western tastes. If Filipino food had been through the same evolutionary process, there would be a western version, much more bland, much less sweet, and much less salty. But the Lechon Baboy would still be a sure-fire hit!

As with any other nation’s food, it is all about the correct preparation: the freshness of the ingredients, and the spices used…in the correct amounts. While I cannot comment on food of the Philippines, as I have only had it a few times in my life, I do know, just from the ingredients listed here, there are many delicious dishes which could be easily made. If a variety of spices can be gotten there inexpensively, many of the world’s cuisine may be reproduced at will. Since seafood, especially shrimp, may be gotten inexpensively there, I think Cajun style dishes would go over well with everyone.

Hi Rob and Chrissy 😊 I find the reactions interesting coming from americans in particular as my experience is their food is exceptionally fatty and tasteless 🤷🏻‍♂️ My least favourite dishes are those based on vinegars 🤔 But like you Balut is a no go for me 😂 Nice curry recipe by the way 😊

Well well - In my opinion Thai food Sucks..😂 I will pick Philippine food over Thai food. I have lived in Thailand for many years and 90% of Thai food is really not Thai. Most is copied from India. Vietnam and Chinese. Go to Esaan and you will see what Thai food really is and it sucks ! 😮

I enjoy some Filipino foods, but there is a shortage of mid range restaurants that serve meals with veggies. There are thousands of fast food franchises, and a some high end expensive restaurants but not much in between. My Filipina is a great cook, and I enjoy all her meals. We shop at local markets for fresh fruits and veggies which are much cheaper. Sweet bread, and sweet spaghetti is a new experience.

What I found funny was that he bought Korean, Thai and Indian ingredients to add to Filipino food to make it palatable. This is comedy gold!

@@FlyMeToThePhilippinesit is food of the very poorest Filipino people from Tondo, smokey mountain people or other urban places in Manila. Because of worst poverty in the Phils...people were to find ways to eat...PAG PAG.they collect food from different chain of restaurants, fast food especially from McDonald's or jollibee or restaurants .duringnight time. They bring it back to their places like Tondo, smokey mountain.... they wash the collected food from the garbage with hot water and refried it so the poor Filipinos children and poor folks could eat it again...sometimes they re sell it in their poor community..that is PAG PAG it is reconstituted thrown food from the restaurant...
