What is your favorite hack for going to sleep?

Regularity and daily structure. Hot, healthy food at the same time. The Chinese (TCM) says that you help your body with warm or hot food doing the digestion and that supports your sleep.

Do everything necessary to put your body in a more anabolic state avoid stimulants, under eating and over exercising. I had terrible insomnia for a few years due to being metabolically adapted to a low carb/calorie diet coupled with way too much cardio without adequate recovery. Put myself in a constant catabolic state, tired and wired...once I realised the actual cause, it was a very slow process but essentially an easy fix. Go to bed as a well fed predator as apposed to prey constantly running whilst under nourished, be mindful of the signals your sending your central nervous system by the way way you live and eat.

Help is from within. At times, it could be 2-4 hours of sleep is enough. At other times, in my opinion/experience, intermently 5-10 hours could be ok, if possible. Watch/feel how you eat, pay attention to your body/mind.

Drink a strong chamomile tea, even then. The tea from Greece is, from what I experienced, the best. A celebrity holistic medicine doctor takes Valerian root capsules before going to sleep. Read first the recommendation. Get 100% Linen cotton sheets, make your bed as comfortable as you can. No blue lights or exterior noises except for maybe an ion air filter. Worth a try!

I bought a 100% cotton linen sheets, all white that I don't know how I lived without. Since I mostly sleep on my side(s), I stuffed a king-sized pillow in a standard sized zippered pillow cover. With one under my knee and another firmed pillow in my front as my top arm goes over like into a hug position. As this, my body feels weightless, it is easy to relax, being grateful and drift into sleep😴. The white noise from the ion air filter helps as well🌫️ and I drink water before bed.

I "feel weightless" as I sink into bed... Well I thought that was cute. Also, pay attention at what you eat during the day, and how does it make you feel. I cannot easily digest beef. If I was to eat beef, I would be very uncomfortable for 3-4 hours. That could be/is because I have type AB+ blood and according to the book, Eat Right For (4) Your Type, meaning blood type, I should avoid beef, but turkey and salmon are beneficial among other of my favorites. Good book that seems to have worked for me for maybe 30+ years. Type O, the original blood type should eat lean meats, type A, the farmers should be mostly vegetarians or pescatarians, and type B, some meats, and me type AB, no beef but lamb, turkey and some fish is beneficial. It has to do with the lethins and how certain foods including vegetables, breads and beans, react in those blood types as either beneficial, neutral, or avoid. Very interesting to me📖. Thank you💖.

I fast daily, too, but am pretty much the opposite. I get off work at 3:30 and eat between 4 and 8. I have so much more energy throughout the day not having to process food while I work. I have a very physical job and where coveralls. In the summer, even with just shorts on, underneath, I get too hot if I eat during the day. It's like putting wood on the fire. I just started watching this, but I don't think sleep requirements are universal. I also think an hour of deep meditation is worth two or more hours of sleep, and I meditate a lot. It also depends on how much stress you incur daily. I live and work on the edge of two mountain wilderness areas and am very active in the outdoors with little interaction with society. I sleep 4 to 6 hours a night and really don't think I need more.

Wow! nightmare’s are a necessary part of our neurology; sleep, must be protected to complete its process without interruption; hence, the sudden unhealthy unrest, and anxiety that occurs from awakening during the sleep cycle, or the manifestation of a “nightmare” , which then enables our function to reject this as a dangerous pattern and help meet nature’s sleep efficiency goals. --of course! Hey Tom can you do a video on TRT for men? Its a major issue these days and theres so much bad info out there about how to do it and if its actually good for men long term that have low T levels. This seems like a very misunderstood pandemic for both younger and middle aged men these days and it would be good to have another educated opinion on the matter. I personally have suffered from low T during the last 4 years starting at age 32 due to stress, depression, and diet and decided to finally give it a shot to see if it would help and while it seems to have helped a lot with energy and mood levels etc its also very misunderstood on how to properly take it and what the long term affects are per my recent research and experience. I personally microdose trt, hcg, and an AI via very small daily injection into body fat to try and both mimic my bodies natural production levels and absorption process but dont know if im making the right choice long term. Can you help shed some light??? Thx

I suspected that the change in my exercise regime was one of the major reasons that my chronic insomnia is far worse. I am recovering from a knee injury and I intend to give my knee all the time it needs to recover, but not getting my 40 minute jog in each morning has screwed up my sleep. I walk indoors on a carpeted surface in the living room for 40 minutes and that is not enough high intensity exercise. I also walk to and from the library, grocery store, or Target, but that is not the same as a morning jog.

chronic insomnia usually points to childhood traumas, denial of abusive caretakers usually cos they are the type of narcissists who present themselves as loving and kind but extremely controlling and/or not giving any boundaries so the kid they are “raising” is growing up without any strong physical comfort (as the mental is disturbed on a daily basis) such as not being able to sleep, not being able to find a good relationship ending up being abused or being the abuser and so on…

Many children who are not attached to the television through an I.V. sleep well BECAUSE they get a bedtime, have their last meal at least 2 hours before bed, get plenty of sunshine and exercise through play...well this was true about 25 years ago. Parents have to worry about predators, so their children cannot play outside. Most families are dual income families. The children eat late and get to bed late. I think most husbands and wives know that we should sleep in separate beds so snoring doesn't wake us up in the middle of the night. I mean I have heard something that sounds like a car crashing through my house at 2am. It's only his snoring and then me and my friend blue light end up hooking up FOR SHAME! It would just be easier to have a television in the room on those nights. Thank you for these reminders about sleep. I am actually doing better with that wonder drug Ambien as long as I sleep immediately after taking it or I end up getting the munchies and eating too late. Eating late at night is definitely a no no if you don't want to wake up with heartburn. I exercise between 9am-11am. I do sleep better but probably exercise just does that anyhow doesn't it. I am definitely going to try 20 seconds of hard exercise and 20 seconds of rest. I CAN DO IT!!! Honestly, humor is the best medicine. So many people take everything so seriously. Too many people don't know how to relax unless they are on their computer or ON THEIR phones constantly. Children laugh and laugh often. They used to not worry about things and not take things so seriously.

Apparently i clicked on this and promptly went to sleep, no recollection of seeing, or hearing any of it. Eating a protein rich meal (particularly something with red meat) within an hour before going to sleep works 'really' well (for me) If i'm trying to sleep on an empty stomach, i might get 2.5 -3 hours, but if i do the aforementioned, i'll go right to sleep when i feel like it. If they say "don't eat before going to bed", but it works really well for you, i would disregard what 'they' say, cuz they don't know what works for you. I'll wake up, feeling good after 5.5 - 7 hours of sleep, 6.5 is probably my perfect range.

@@thequestion5935 That is, when one does not drink enough water to be dehydrated, they can develop a headache because the brain needs water💦. Depending on the circumstance, 8-16 oz should do it. I always keep water next to my bed and if I didn't eat for a few days, plain Kefir is enjoyed, O% sugar.

also you are receiving a huge amount of energy from looking at the sun and so it leads to the less need of eating food.. think about it. vegetables are the best food out there as they collect the biggest amount of direct sunlight and keep it relatively unaltered. so they contain pure sun energy.

So I noticed a lot of these require going to bed early but for my situation I work afternoons/nights. 530 pm to 530 am. Is there any tips for that?

If you work the "graveyard shift", along with a multi-vitamins and some light food or with plain kefir, vitamin D & C and a glass of red wine at 9 AM if you are not driving and not an example to young ones. And drink filtered water; it seems some people are so afraid of drinking water. If one is hydrated, one might not wake up with a headache. And make it a strong point to get sunlight upon waking. I should take my own advice🤣.
@michelealexander9900
@michelealexander9900 Год назад
Get "black-out" blinds/curtains, if you don't already have them and don't forget to take vitamin D and try to get some sunlight, even before work. There exists a wake-up alarm that slowly resembles sunlight and maybe birds chirping. The light from the alarm would slowly wake one up, seemingly naturally. Could be worth looking into a sunlight alarm.
