Trying $1 vs $150 Sushi in Japan

Sushi is one of my favorite food, and since I'm finally in Japan for the first time in my life, I decided to try their most affordable sushi and (one of) the most expensive sushi just to compare.
The cheap sushi place was a franchise restaurant, and had sushi that are below $1 per piece. On the other hand, the expensive restaurant had a 20000 yen omakase, which is about $150 for a course meal with about a dozen sushi.
Which one do you guys think is more worth your money? Watch the video and decide for yourself!

I think this comparison is really helpful for visitors to Japan as budgets vary and the need to experience cuisine from different price points is helpful. Sometimes I really just want to go and "eat cheap" or "spend big" depending on the mood and who I am with. Keep up the great content Jimmy and don't eat too much fish milk. :)

I've always been interested in going to a sushi spot like the $1 place that has a conveyer belt. Even if it isn't up to par with other sushi I've had, it would definitely be a nice change of pace vs. all the AYCE places I've been to with friends who tend to order way too much because they're hungry.

Uncle Jimmy’s ability to learn, understand and speak new languages is actually insane! I don’t know how good he is at Japanese because I don’t know Japanese, but judging from his fluent English which is his 2nd language, I’d bet he’s equally as impressive at speaking Japanese. Gigachad Uncle Jimmy.
@FlavorofMind
@FlavorofMind Год назад
Yes, impressive indeed! I bet he's a jokester when he uses Japanese as well 😅
@Sonasic
@Sonasic Год назад
Well he lived in the US for some years which makes his English good and also many Asians learn other Asian languages much faster than Europeans or Americans because they have similarities and a specific way to think.
@housemana

Jinni are you being sarcastic homie cause this is pretty cringe but tbh it'd be actually pretty cringe if u were serious, too. literally everyone bends over backwards to learn English if you're a part of the non-English-as-a-Primary-Language-but-still-apart-of-the-World-Power-Circuit. aka all countries whose economies and perhaps even societies are international, but with non-English primary official language. It is generally known that if you are a part of one of those communities, English will be taught/expected to be known in paralell with your own native tongue as u grow up.
@user-cr9zo5yo9k

@@housemana Calling people cringe for complimenting others is what’s actually cringe here. And bruh, have you heard the accent of most english speakers from third world countries? Jimmy barely has any, he deserves the praise.

His Japanese is pretty good, he has perfect listening skills, he can understand everything in Japanese, but his vocabulary is a little small and that's not so much because of him not knowing the word, but more not getting to practice speaking often so he can't think of it right away

pieces of sushi. It's great that you're exploring the variety of sushi available in Japan! Trying both affordable and expensive sushi is a good way to compare the differences in quality and flavor. At the affordable sushi place, you can expect to find sushi made with fresh ingredients, but they may not be of the highest quality. The cuts of fish may not be as generous, and the sushi may be prepared quickly and efficiently. However, the affordable sushi place can still provide a satisfying and tasty meal. At the expensive sushi restaurant, you can expect a higher quality of fish, as well as more unique and rare ingredients. The sushi may also be prepared with more care and attention to detail, making for a more delicate and flavorful experience. The omakase course will likely showcase the chef's creativity and skill in creating a varied and delicious meal. Overall, both affordable and expensive sushi have their own merits and are worth trying. It's up to you to decide which type of sushi fits your taste and budget. Enjoy your culinary adventure in Japan!

I'm glad you splurged bc in Japan, $$(can't find JPY symbol) = quality of food (esp Japanese food) is accurate. Not that inexpensive food is not good but the quality usually corresponds directly to freshness. As an example, tempura houses are ranked ($/quality) by the number of oil changes (ie freshness). The most expensive tempura place has absolutely fresh oil, meaning untainted oil, used just that one time to cook your dish.
