Hot Rods are from like 80's, our taste buds for hot stuff hadn't evolved yet back then.

Hot Rod is nostalgic. I had them on every birthday-party and I always put as many of them I could on each finger. 😂😁

Either the Hot Rods have gotten smaller or you have huge fingers because i used them as rings in my fingers...

Hot Rods are a childhood favourite! Just like you said, a birthday party snack. And we used to wear them as rings. The moomin snacks are good for teething babies!

Those moomin snacks and similar are called "raksut" in the common speech and they really are snacks for small teething babies. They are designed to have minimum amount of flavor and spice, so as the digestive track of the little ones would not be disturbed. Dave, just save them for your baby; once he grows up a bit, he will love it.

Hot Rod is not ment to be a hot snack and is a reference to the cars called Hot Rod. The flavor is sweet pepper and smoke and ment to be mild. The shape of the snack represent the wheel of a Hot Rod. They are a great snack in one aspect as you can eat them and not get fed up of them compared to many of the more flavored ships like the Diner one that I personally could not eat more than a few at the time as the taste was so overbearing.

Taffel hearts are my favorite for sure. Get them on chip taste test part 2 ;)

You should try Poppamies brand snacks. They should have some oomph

You should try "Kaikilla Mausteilla" By Real Snacks, they have an idea of Lihapiirakka taste on a chip and i think they are really well done !

My top five and my recommendations: 1. Estrella: linssisipsit (chili-kermaviili is the best!) 2. Taffel: Ranch 3. Taffel: Kartanon perunalastut (tilli-kermaviili and valkosipuli-kermaviili) 4. All chipventures flavors (salty licorice, chili verde, craft beer pils and honey butter). 5. Estrellan Sadonkorjuu: Kanttarelli & Kermaviili

If yuo want more than litle burn from chili chips try poppamies products. They got good chili chips.

Next week taste test on dips for crisps 😉. I really miss Taffel dips and everytime I go to Finland I buy dip sachets to take home.

Hot Rod is one of my favorites, they were given an unfortunate name as you'd then expect something really spicy. But they are tasty, and you are supposed to wear some of them as rings on your fingertips and eat a handful of them at once.

I recommend Taffel Bravo and Ranch, those would be my favorites by taffel.

You should try Poppamies-chips! You can find them in K-citymarkets and Prismas I think, maybe in some smaller stores also.

Hot Rods are a classic. They have been around like always. And they are not supposed to be hot (as in capsaicin hot), they just were more spicy than the plain salted chips that were about the only other option back in the day. Of course they are quite mild compared to the options available in 2019.

You should also try Kartanon merisuola & balsamico chips, they are one of my faves! Also Linssisipsi ranch flavor is so good!

I'm glad Diner won the test. I'm not surprised, it's really good and it's one of my new favorites! I'd like to see more of your Finnish chips test! I hope you'll find the other news, like Estrella Linssisipsi Roasted Onion and Estrella Karamellisoitu Punasipuli (picked red onion)/Kantarelli & Kermaviili (chanterelles & sour cream). Other recommended tests if you find them and haven't tried yet: Taffel Chips Choko/Raffel Choco, Taffel KickX Onion Mix, Taffel Pizza Snacks (now THAT is a flavorful treat!) or any Linksuo rye snacks (chips, crisps and nachos). Oh yeah, and Kartanon chips are always a recommendation and they have various flavors so go for the one that appeals your interest the most. (You're right, we do have a whole lot of Taffel chips. I just realized a majority of my suggestions are of Taffel - I didn't even think about the brands so much when I buy the chips bags, I just enjoy the chips. xD)

u have to try " kaikilla mausteilla" from Real Snacks, they are my ultimate favorite chips!! It means like " with every spices" and are basically spiced with mustard, ketchup and pickles if I remember right. I don't even like potato chips but those are 👌

Kartanon Perunalastut ("The Manor's chips") are the best ones out there IMO, especially the Dill & sour cream ones. They're not too special in the broad sense, but they're very high quality and have lots of flavour

Hot rods are almost the most basic chips available, found almost in every party, just basic. Have you tried Real Snacks' Kaikilla mausteilla? That's one of my favorites. Also chicken legs either by taffel/estrella, I don't remember the brand.

Those Estrella Hot Chili & Sour Cream chips are my current favourite. They are actually surprisingly spicy if you eat more than a few...

Dave, you should try the artisan chips by Estrella. They are unbelievably crunchy, and packed with flavor! My absolute favorite is the garlic and chili, the best chip ever if you ask me. It's a pretty small bag, and it costs like 2,5€, but to me, totally worth the price.

You should try: Taffel Hearts, Kartanon tilli&kermaviili, kaikilla mausteilla, and taffel broadway!

On that Honey butter package is finnish swan sign, which means product is made in Finland.

Also Estrella sour cream and ranch needs, Taffel Bravo and Estrella sadonkorjuu kantarelli chips need to be included if you can find them, they are a bit of a different treat but delicious. Edit. Also anything by Poppamies but be prepared.

The oat chips are better in other flavors! The plain seasalt one is my favorite, especially with sweetchili dip made into creme fraise instead of sourcream 😋

I've just opened the pickle&mayo one from the big chip bag i got from Linnanmäki and i agree with you, the flavor is really intresting. XDDD

I would recommend giving other Real Snacks chips a go. How about Kaikilla mausteilla (mixed spices) and the liquorice chips you mentioned? Have you tried the Kartanon dill chips? Personally those are probably my favourite, followed by the Chipventures honey butter chips. Loving these videos!

Diner chips are addicting but only for a while. You can't eat more than a quarter of that bag at once, strong flavours start to burn in your mouth and leave a bad aftertaste. Estrella is another big company besides Taffel but Kartano chips are perhaps the best out of less-known ones.

My favourite chip is Taffel's Bravo sweet chili and sour cream. You must try it at some point.

You should try artisan chips from estrella. It's not a finnish brand but they are so good and full of flavor.

Those Diner chips are REALLY good. Luckily none of my closest markets have them because I could eat them every day. You should try "Kaikilla mausteilla", if you haven't already. Not sure did you test them years ago. Those are another surprisingly good chips. Pretty weird, but good.

Hi Dave! I love your taste tests! Here is an idea for your next taste test: "meat substitutes". I mean vegetarian and vegan products that are used to substitute meat in a meal if don't want to eat meat. For example Härkis, Nyhtökaura and Elovena Muru. Eating less meat is a great way to show you care about the planet. I dare you to try! Ps. You should also try Linssisipsi, lentil crisps!

Real Snacks have the biggest revenue from what I recall from the finnish chip brands and I insist you to try the "kaikilla mausteilla"-one unless you already tried them. They're great!

Hehe, I'm eating Taffel's Broadways while watching. I must admit I'm kinda chip addict. But yeah, Taffel's Broadways (Sourcream & Onion) have always been (and will be) my favorite chips of all time. (Although Pringles' is good second I guess!) In general I prefer Taffel also. There is some Estrellas I like but not too many.

I think they changed something with Hot Rods at some point. Hot Rods were awesome when I was a kid, then I had them again after a long while and it's like they put less flavoring in it or something.

Honey butter chips come from Korea. They were so popular that people started to import them from there using Ebay. Then Finnish people jumped in the took part of the market with these.

Hot Rods is an old chip. It existed already in the 80s.. So it's a classic! And the taste is actually still the *exact same* than what it used to be! So keep that in mind when tasting them ~ old classics don't have modern favors, hence why they might taste a little 'tasteless' ?? BTW, those rings fitted in our fingers when we were kids! That's kind of how we always ate them, filled up all the fingers with them! 😆 Don't fit no more ~ or did they make them smaller?? 😅
