Others when they don’t like some food - ewww this is yuck🤢🤮 Beryl when she doesn’t like some food- “I don’t wanna be hurtful” “I don’t love it but” “I am gonna say some positive things about it” She is too pure for the world🥺
So glad the last one spoke in his native language. I love hearing all kinds of different languages from around the world. Wish all guests would do that too
As an Egyptian who doesn't like cantaloupe, I would recommend trying the Egyptian recipe with watermelon instead, I am sure you will like it, It won't make you like cantaloupe, but it would make you understand more the recipe Also, Love the fact that there are more Egyptian recipes, Thank you Edit: forgot to mention that with watermelon, grapes could be added, which also make it a lot better
I craved watermelon and feta while I was pregnant for my son. My family thought i was gross for eating it so much. I never knew it was an actual dish just figured it was another weird craving
Beryl, Our grade 7 class in Wetaskiwin, Alberta, thinks you are awesome. We love watching your videos, we are "addicted". ❤️ Many of them want to try making some of the recipes, and they will report back on their success.
Not gonna lie, I teared up watching this because she’s helping to change the world. Her sharing her own life experiences, partaking and sharing of different foods, recipes, cultures, traditions, etc is a really beautiful thing to behold. This channel came at a perfect time. A time where compassion, love, sharing, caring, respect, and basic kindness are in short supply. During my lunch break, I sometimes watch this channel with some of my students (middle school).
Cantaloupe Spicy Soup with crispy Bacon: it's a cold soup. Blend a handful of Cantaloupe with some grated parmesan, half a chilli pepper, One tablespoon of olive oil (or half a tablespoon of mustard oil if you can manage to get it), and one clove of garlic. Pour in a bowl, top it with a handful of crispy bacon crunched up, and enjoy. Do try it please...and tell me in a reply here how you liked it. ☺️🙏 Footnote: usually the salt comes from the parmesan, but do add more if you like 🙏
I feel that way as an adult! When I was a child I loved it because my mom only served me ripe cantaloupe... It was always so sweet when she picked it out.
When it’s shipped from CA or Mexico to NY. They ship it green. Often doesn’t ripen. Look for softness at stem end, yellowness in the veining on the outside, not green, and SMELL IT!
I will eat anything you put in front of me with a smile on my face so I completely understand being a dog about food. Food is just too good to be upset about.
I would drink it if I have nothing else that can substitute for a juice and really need to finish the fruit at home. Even with lemon and pink salt added to it I can't improve the taste. I am sure the ice cream version would be much better. Will definitely try..
You have the kindest soul ever! It takes a lot (mentally) to do such a channel to incorporate foods from different regions and say only positive things about flavors that are foreign to you! I admire what you're doing and am inspired by your positive attitude and promoting diversity!!
omg canned anchovies!!! i can't wait for that episode. my dad blends fresh tomatoes from the garden (canned work too) with anchovies, capers, black pepper, garlic, and red pepper flakes and uses that as a pasta sauce, a pizza sauce, or basically any way you would use a red sauce. incredibly delicious!
yeeeeeees my dad used to do the same when I was little, I didn't like it back then but now I love love love it and get so happy whenever I get to eat it again!!!
Beryl, I love that you share the works of artists while also trying new foods, BUT, could you please also share where you get your incredible earrings? You never fail to have the prettiest and fun ones I've seen in a long time. :)
Watching this brought back a memory of my childhood - my mom used to cut cantaloupes in half, scoop out the seeds and then put a scoop of vanilla ice cream in the middle of each halved cantaloupe.
My grandpa used to buy them in crates when I was visiting him in southern France during summer holidays. I ate too much of these so now I can't stomach even a single bite.
I want to try that Indian cantaloupe milkshake. I love Indian mango lassi so I might like the cantaloupe one. Are there any other Indian style smoothies/milkshakes? You should make a video on that.
@@DEVILHARSHA haha sitafal doesn't even need to be put in any desert, the fruit tastes like a creamy desert all by itself 😂 I love sitafal and now I will surely try it in a milkshake too 😋
Here in Italy we have a serious frenzy for cantaloupe melon during the summer time... we use to eat a cold plate called "prosciutto e melone" that is, well, just simple slices of prosciutto crudo (dry-cured ham, the one from Parma or the one from San Daniele) eaten with slices of cantaloupe. During summer days in my family we eat that like EVERYDAY... and it works so well because of the same "salty and sweet" combo that you tried with the feta and melon plate (Btw thanks for the idea, that will be a good alternative to stop the "prosciutto e melone" frenzy of the next summer...).
I used to hate it when I was a kid but found that I loved hit later on as a teenager to an adult. I think it's the way that it can be prepared sometimes. My mom always made it with sauteed vegetables in a spicy sauce. My mom would also make liver tomato stew but like not in the way that most people think of a stew. It's worth trying it a different applications. My boyfriend's going to get me to like natto and pho...so there's that lol. He's trying it in different ways maybe it'll grow on me.
Got hooked on liverwurst while in Germany as a kid-- it's kind of like liver pate, you can get it smooth or chunky and eat it sliced or as a spread. I like the smooth kind as a spread on fresh bread-- yum!! Kind of tastes like fancy bologna lol
When I worked at edible arrangements one time when someone was ordering they asked if the arrangement had any “loser fruits” in it. They were asking if it had cantaloupe or honeydew.
I had to go search for what Cantaloupe is. We call it Muskmelon (in English) in India.😬 Edit: The girl from India said it. I typed the above before the Indian segment. 😅
You know Beryl, what makes ur show so good , apart from the creative ideas, is your respect for each and every food item, irrespective of how much u may dislike it. Keep it up 👍😁
You are a ray of sunshine! Even when dealing with a food you don't particularly like, you still put so much joy and love in the recipes. Always lifts my mood when I watch one of your videos 💛
When Beryl has people from ALL OVER THE WORLD suggest recipes... my heart just swells. This whole video series is wonderful. Beryl, you are going to bring the world together.
I love the early posting, it was a great way to start the day (at least in my time zone). Also, thanks for supporting art and artists! Not many would think to do that with their platform and it’s greatly appreciated.
Cantaloupe, rockmelon, or "peponi" in greek is somewhat of a flavor that I hated as a child cause it had some sort of a fake sugary quality about it. However, now I love it, and it is so refreshing in the summertime here in Australia (+ growing up in a Greek household). Great video, love your channel so much!
BERYL!!!! Your'e at 129,000 subscribers!!! This is so amazing i subscribed when you were at 23k now look how far you got! CONGRATULATIONS ON THE CHANNEL AND TRYING CANTALOUPE!!! 😂
You're the most respectful person I've ever seen trying different culture's foods! I stumbled upon your channel yesterday and I've been watching nonstop! I would love to see you try brazilian pão de queijo, tapioca, cuzcuz, brigadeiro, feijoada or so on!
You should do a vegetarian episode! I was raised Seventh Day Adventist and they have a lot of “almost meat” recipes. My favorite is cottage cheese roast which is a replacement for meatloaf. It’s made with cottage cheese, (duh) corn flakes, and pecans as a base. Every family has their own recipe but my Grammy’s is definitely the best.
1qt small curd cottage cheese 3/4 stick of melted butter 1 finely diced onion 4 cups special K 1 cup oats 4 eggs Way too much garlic powder Way too much onion powder 2 cups chopped pecans 2 packs of Washington Broth (you can find it on Amazon but it can be substituted with any other vegetarian bullion cubes) Mix all together and put in a buttered baking dish to bake at 350° for 40 minutes. I prefer a bigger pan because the crispy edges are the best part. Best served on Sabbath afternoons with scalloped potatoes and broccoli. 😊
Thanks for sharing your recipe, I’ve been veggie for 30 years and never tried anything like this (I’m a NZer and I think meatloaf is a quintessentially American dish, definitely not something I would normally come across) and it sounds so healthy and good! I’m going to give it a go.
I admire your decision to keep trying foods you don’t like. Whenever I find myself at friends for dinner or at a potluck I try taking small amounts of food I don’t like & try them again. Sometimes the preparation makes all the difference! Bravo to you!!!
I loved this video Beryl! It was fun to not only see some interesting recipes, but also to see how they introduced you to new ways to consume something you’ve previously disliked. Just so you know, though... as a viewer, I don’t watch these videos to see you *love* everything. I like seeing your genuine reactions - whether they’re love, like, confusion, not sure how you feel about something, find it gross - whatever that reaction is! It’s *totally okay* for you to try something and decide it’s not for you! So don’t be uncomfortable about disliking things. (I’m saying this because you mentioned in this video that you’re uncomfortable saying you dislike something.) Disliking something doesn’t mean you’re telling someone their food is gross. It just means the flavours or textures or temperature or smell is not your personal preference. And that’s okay!
That last one shot me straight back to visiting my grandmother as a little child. She was from the American midwest, and one of her favorite snacks was cantaloupe with cottage cheese. . . . . . I can't say I ever developed a taste for it, myself.
I was thinking that the feta was similar to how some people pair it with cottage cheese! My grandma did too, but I love cottage cheese so much I prefer it plain.
Your channel is such an inspiration for food exploration!! 🤩 We really enjoy hearing about all these different dishes! I mean who knew you could make cantaloupe in so many different ways 😅
I really liked the one from Egypt! It's a lot like "my" watermelon salad (melon, feta, mint, lemon salt, crushed pepper) with turkish flatbread, so it sounds great to me! I've got to know the Egyptian watermelon salad recipe now.
Ohmigosh! I'm so excited I discovered you have your own youtube channel! I was rewatching your Great Big Story series and googled your name! Sweet! Glad to see your videos back in my feed!
Really! Not one thing? I love to eat also, I can eat anything. But there are three things in this world I cant stand: cucumber, intestines and chicken feet.
@@kicou ok Since I'm an Indian There are some dishes I absolutely hate So I would never eat Any animal and Chicken feet apart from Chicken meat.. And I'd never eat Peas and any gross stuff that's not edible Otherwise I can eat everything.
Gods I love her channel! Its so wholesome and nice to watch, really brighting up my day whenever im having a bad one. The recepies are also very inspiring, making me want to explore my culinary Horizon as well as take some of these Recipies into my everyday cooking! So thank you for making these videos, they are really nice and also educational ^^
I’ve found your channel yesterday and now im binge watching it! I love your personality, the way you film/edit your videos, the concept... so well produced content 😍 happy i found you
Indiana produces some amazing cantaloupe, it's the only time I will eat them. But "we" tend to like them with at least salt and pepper to offset the sweetness. Lemon is always a nice treat with it, too. Chilled cantaloupe is better than room temp, it firms up the consistency. Also, my family has call Aditi call it that, too!
Beryl this was a really good vid.... I thoroughly enjoyed the juxtapose of you trying different dishes of a food that you are indifferent to... inspired and amused. Thanks for pushing your comfort zone
It's okay to dislike a food, Beryl, nobody will judge you! The best part of this video is Beryl saying 'I want you guys to see me being hateful!' and then when the opportunity comes she completely and utterly fails to do so 😂 You're so respectful and kind~
I love your positivity Beryl! Everyone has foods they don't like. Its not a slur on anyone's opinion. My daughter didn't like chocolate growing up and is still indifferent to it. I couldn't understand it but didn't make her eat chocolate. Being respectful of others dishes, even if they're not your cup of tea is just being a good person! Thanks for your great videos!😊
I was also going to recommend this! I LOVE Jansonns Frestelse. The saltiness combined with the creaminess and sweetness from the cream and potatoes are sooo good.
In Brazil we have it blended with limes, a lot of ice, and sometimes some cachaça (you should really try different drinks btw), I like to put some mint leaves when it's done, cuz it's cute, and have it at the pool or beach.
I have found three ways to eat Brussel sprouts that I absolutely adore. I would never have thought it possible before, so I agree with you: It's a good idea to keep trying.
Gosh, one of your videos was recommended to me 2 days ago because I’m brazilian and it was the hot dog one. Since then I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO STOP WATCHING YOUR VIDEOS!! So in love! 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
You are such a sweet and thoughtful human. I love watching all of your videos, traveling and experiencing different foods and cultures through your content. Thank you! :)
What . I eat Canteloupe literally everyday is so good. Sometimes with yogurt granola and honey , sometimes with chilli flakes, sometimes I make it juice. So good.
First, I want to say, Beryl, that I absolutely love your channel. Your energy and your sparkling smile is just what I need these days. You videos truly, truly brighten my day. And I'm with you on the whole cantaloupe thing. I'm extremely conflicted about melons in general. I am absolutely terrible at selecting them. Whenever I bought one, I'd end up trashing it because it was always hard and tasteless. Finally, someone told me to find one that had the most fragrant smell, so that's what I did. And while the fruit was way more flavorful, it was almost sickeningly sweet. Please, keep making content. I look forward to every single video.
I just found your channel by random RU-vid recommend, and I must say it is very enjoyable. My first episode was the comfort foods from around the world. And I have now binged watched about 10 more episodes. I love the world tales on things, toast, fries, (this one). It is so nice to see different ways to make things. I also love your personality. You always seem willing to try, and are so genuine on your reactions. I will be sharing your wonderful channel with my friends!
It’s funny you mentioned Liver cause I don’t particularly love it myself but liver pâté I could eat all day. I can’t eat cheese if its cold, but melt it and again sign my up !
Hey! You should try the Swedish dish Janssons frestelse (Jansson's temptation). It's a dish with canned anchovies that we often eat att Christmas and easter :D
I loooooove this anchove recipe, it's part of our feast of the seven fishes for Christmas Eve, but I make it all year round. Put a good amount of olive oil in a pan fry up garlic and 2 cans of anchovies (they will break apart while cooking you want small pieces) toss in cooked pasta, preferably angel hair. Top with good parmesan cheese. It's magical and simple!
My British mum’s anchovy and olive pasta (inspired by Italian puttanesca): sauté diced onion, red pepper and crushed garlic. While that softens, crush half a tin of anchovies into a paste. Add the anchovy paste, a tin of tomatoes and dollop of tomato paste. Season with black pepper and a dash of balsamic vinegar BUT NO SALT. Reduce and finally add your cooked pasta (any kind really, we usually use fusilli). Basically the anchovy acts here like a more umami salt, like how nam pla is used in South East Asian dishes. Yum!
Ugh! Watching you eating cantaloupe makes me want to make a cantaloupe dessert. Indonesian people usually make a cold drink with cantaloupe during ramadhan. Add some ice, coco pandan syrup, agar agar and a fresh cantaloupe and eat/drink it on iftar.
In ramadan, we make melon juice and add pineapple flavoured tang...it tastes so good!...we also make melon juice and add an apple flavoured soda...both of them are amazing combinations
Watermelon with feta cheese is awesome, ad cucumber and some balsamic vinegar! Never tried it with cantaloupe. My kids really love it during summer because you can chill it and serve it really cold. And I love the earnings!
