Thank you for the amazing video and share on Japanese freeze dried food. Is there a site you can recommend to buy these products and ship to the U.S.? Currently building and prepping my pantry and these items would make a great addition. Thank you!!

That freeze-dried food is amazing. So much better and more varied than the freeze-dried food I used to take on camping trips. Japanese excellence shines through again. It struck me again today how wonderful you two are together. You have complementary strengths, complementary skills, complementary interests; in fact, your entire personalities seem complementary. 😊 And you obviously love and respect one another. 👍❤️❤️

I think those freeze dried foods look space age, like astronaut food. They would be perfect for emergencies, or even for camping or hiking. The shelf life is very long, which is good. The beef stew looks the best to me. Cheers! ✌️

These would be best reconstituted in the little tray they come in. Another tip is, you can actually eat freeze dried foods as is. They still taste really good, but as you can imagine, you'll need to drink lots of water. In an emergency situation, you will most likely be without power for days sometimes, leaving you no conventional way to make rice or boil water. You can heat water if you keep a small butane burner, espit stove or flameless ration heater.

@@jonlavigne3270 That's not really practical in a concrete jungle, my friend. Even not practical in a park considering they had liquefaction during their last big one.

There is (or was??) an Amano Freeze-Dry store right next to Tokyo Station. It had about 100 varieties of various freeze-dried products when I was there in 2020. Im angry I did not buy anything after watching this :(

I think the last solid ones you add hot water into the container that comes with the food to rehydrate.

I would love these for camping. I'm guessing you can pour the hot water into the little plastic trays too maybe, if you didn't want to have dirty dishes. (In Canada, I use freeze dried packets like "Mountain House" and it will be typical comfort food dishes here such as meat lasagne, mac and cheese, and beef stew. They usually take 9-12 minutes to soak but are in much bigger portions). Bokksu, can you do a savoury box?

These look good. I bought some freeze dried tofu miso soup recently and it was good. Wish we had more of a selection here in the states. Ours come in flavors like beef stroganoff, chilli mac, and scrambled eggs with bacon (this one's really good.) The best freeze dried food imo is ice cream though.😋

I bought a stock once for Saya; easy meals especially if she didn't want to eat the main meal. but I only bought the soups, zousui and nyuumen variaties. Never risotto, stew etc. I always bought them at the kombini. Personally I don't really like the taste of most but still easy to have on hand. And very handy for an emergency pack or for camping. The stew one is a nice addition to omuraisu I think :) I would definitely try the stew and oyakodon. And the katsu one is so interesting. I prefer it with tonkatsu sauce but would definitely try it. And I think Saya would love the ebi ten toji one; she loves tamago toji dishes. These also make great souvenirs :)

Whoa... The Japanese will save humanity from bland food during the first phase of Mars colonization! Astronauts & scientists will need these during the ~7month long trip going there and keep them sane while they don't produce yummy food yet on the planet.

You make me shop differently now, I like to look at what's in my local stores more closely. I forget about freeze dried food products. I usually find them in hunting and camping stores ,but I must ask if they sell them in my local stores. Thanks for reminding me, I loved every item so convenient for a quick meal .
