The founder of the restaurant happens to be my grandmother's friend back in Lebanon. They used to live in the same building. Thank you for shining the spotlight on our delicious cuisine and this great restaurant !
So you love what we call tabakh (taba5) in Lebanon it's usual dishes we cook everyday and you need to taste more tabakh (if you have the chance to travel to Lebanon) they are countless
In lebanon we usually put a garlic sauce with chicken shawarma instead of tahini… the squash is actually zucchini and the pea thing is yakhnet bazella 😊 Sahten (eat well) so happy you like our food 🙏🏻
The carrot-pea stew is actually found all over Lebanon 😅 Yakhne is Lebanese for stew and there are soooo many variations. Basically you have the base of tomato sauce/garlic/coriander/meat and then it could be carrot-peas, cauliflower, potatoes, lime beans, kidney beans, or red beans.... etc + the rice next to it. It's not limited to a town, it's in every household at least once a week. (+ there is the vegetarian variation in f each of those as well 😅)
Lebanese food is the best. It's all so mch work to make too. I'm not eating out this year so it could be a long day in the kichen. Unless Sunnin's Cafe delivers to Pittsburgh. It all looks so rocken..
I have eaten a lot of delicious Syrian cuisines during my two weeks stay in Damascus , I guess there is some similarity among the Lebanon and Syrian food
Omg Lebanese is my favourite food not just because I’m Lebanese because it’s so delicious you know my dad won the best tabbouleh in the city zahle 1990 and and best knafeh 1993 👍
Hey im really glad you tried the lebanese cuisine and enjoy it ! The thing is i would love to cleae some things up ! First of all the chicken shawarma sandwish was made kinda wrong , chicken shwarma sandwish should be only made of chicken , garlic sauce , pickles , and ofc molasses is an option if u like ( which i really recommend ! ) it shouldnt contain lettuce or tomatoes or tahini or this red thing which i forgot what its name is ! You should also try the meat shawarma , and this one consists of the meat , tahini , tomatoes , parsley , onions and pickles ! Also the kebabs were kinda served in the wrong way ! A typical barbecue dish in lebanon consists of chicken kebabs ( tawook ) which should have garlic sauce on the side ! Meat kebabs ( which are 2 kinds : the one u had and the other type is meat skewers ) and these should have hummus on the side , and lastly lamb ribs is a must in lebanes barbecue which are also dipped in hummus ! Rice shouldnt be served with the kebabs as it is not traditional and it really isnt great with them , instead u should get grilled onions , tomatoes , green pepper ( grilled on the charcoal ofc ) and maybe some chilli peppers also and maybe some fries or grilled potatoes ! Also this a typical lebanese salad but with this type of food tabboole is a must with them !
A bit more on the hole-in-the-wall side but make sure to try Falafel ARAX in North Hollywood next, absolutely killer spot. Love your reactions, this is how I react when I eat good Lebanese food.
Hey trying the best spots in Westwood 👍. Once you finish your middle east LA food tour, I want to recommend you a place right across the street from sunnin. The restaurant is called Qin west noodle, they have awesome west Chinese cuisine from Guilin China. Great work bro👍.
Chicken shawarma goes with garlic sauce not with tahini, beef goes with tahini sauce, and the sandwich should've been toasted, the chicken shawarma is better with saj bread than pita bread, baba ghanuj should be topped with pomegranate and hummus with cumin & paprika, they needed more olive oil, hummus goes well with tabbuleh & beef kebab, the shawarma also goes well with pepper paste dip & pomegranate molasses
this is not how we make the Lebanese chicken shawarma wrap! we use garlic sauce instead of tahini sauce and we don't add lettuce and tomato traditional, just pickles, garlic sauce and fries
Am sorry to say the shawarma chicken wrap has nothing to do with authentic Lebanese food !!! It reminded me of Indian restaurants who tries to imitate Lebanese Shawarma . Lebanese never put tahina sauce with chicken shawarma and never put pickled turnip , they put those with meat shawarma! with chicken shawarma the put some lettuce and pickled cucumber and garlic sauce. Also the peas dish the amount of carrots is maybe 4 times the amount of peas while carrot should be about 20% and the rest should be peas, I dont want to talk about how unprofessional the carrot was cut !!!
Done deffirently , there is proof who started it beside pple who fight we did it no we did it. But they are made completely different ingredients taste etc
I don’t wanna be negative but this isn’t how shawarma is made and none of these are really authentic 😭 i hope u find a better place cz our food is great🥺
@@a_bone_in_the_ocean2276 look up the differences between a turkish and Lebanese meze for a good example. It is NOT the same food. It has the same name, but each uses different ingredients or is made a different way. We use chickpeas in lebanon, but in egypt they use fava beans for falafel. When you try Lebanese food, then another countries food, you'll know the differences.
Only if you tasted the real Lebanese chicken shawarma, he butchered it... tahini and pickled turnips go with falafel... you need toum, cucumber pickles and lettuce with chicken shawarma only... then you will be knocked out.
