Lol yes girl! The good thing about curly hair is that you can’t really tell if you mess up and you can go back and snip the curls that stand out when your hair is dry. But I do look at videos so I have an idea of what I’m trying to achieve. 🙂
It is absolutely catastrophal to try to get a haircut for curly hair in Germany. Next time I will do this on my own! Or get a cut in Spain during my holidays... hopefully they got more experience

Absolutely stunning!!! I love how you started out with the initial Manes by Mell and then refined it to your desired layering. Still following Mell’s basic directions. I did the pigtails cut yesterday and it came out okay, but not nearly the layering I was hoping for. Going to wait until next weekend and then try your modifications! Thanks so much mamas!
If you had told me before Covid I was gonna be cutting my own hair I would’ve said you’re crazy. But your video makes it so easy! I went for the short layers and it looks great. Starting to grow up now, trying to decide if I want to add bangs.
i’ve just tried this and am waiting for my hair to dry... i’ll update update: i love it! it gives the hair a nice round shape and embraces the curls by taking weight off. It looks better on day 2 because while drying it looks slightly odd- but overall it’s great and would recommend!

I’m a bit unsure though because my hair is quite long (like to the waist) so I have to still tweak it a bit, but I think it’ll be fine. Fingers crossed!

My hair is too short now to do it (went a little crazy last time) but I am longing for This Style again, except now I have to achieve it without my stylist (sigh). And no hair color, either (double sigh). Oh well, if that's all I have to whine about right now, I'm fortunate and I know it. But I am looking forward to doing this cut maybe in another month. In the meantime, I'll watch the video daily and swoon over pretty Yeislin's gorgeous curls!
Girl... you are brave!! Came out wonderful but I'm like O M G... when you cut on the opposite side of your fingers from Mel's technique! Not sure I'll ever be brave enough for this but it's fun watching other gals go for it and have to admit it encourages me to try. My curls are way tighter and shrinkage far greater... so that why I hesitate. Thanks for sharing! Smiles and blessings...
It looks so good. I just watched your last haircut video and now this one. I cut my hair the other day on a whim because I was so tired of it being so long with dead ends and just split my hair in two and tied it and cut the ends off and some bangs and it came out pretty good but I want volume on top so I’ll be trying this! Thank you! I wish I found this when I was cutting my hair !

This was so helpful! I recently got my hair hacked off and thinned out and I HATE IT! It’s too short to cut right now and fix but this video is a helpful tutorial on how to cut my daughters hair! 🤩
Ohhh no they thinned your hair 😩😩 that’s a no no for curly hair. I’m sorry you didn’t have a good experience with your stylist. I have a daughter too but she is too young for me to try this cut. Her hair is just passed her shoulders so I just trim her ends to even her curls out.
@@YeislinRuiz yeah girl 😑 worst part, the hairstylist swore she didn’t but 1) she slid her scissors down parts of my hair, 2) my hair shows that it’s been texturized 😒 nothing I can do but nourish and let it grow out....so I tried this cut on my 4 year old but kept it VERY SUBTLE AND ONLY TRIMMED it and it brought back life to her little curlies and gave her some shape. She loved it. 💕🤗

I just did it following your instructions and it turned out pretty great!! I miss my edgy cuts from the Before Times, but this style really works and my curls feel alive again

I think you would get more curl definition at the ends if you were to blunt cut the ponies. By chipping in point cutting this can cause curls to fluff out and get wispy. As long as you are elevating there shouldn't be steps when it is dry, however dead straight hair like Chinese hair might show steps using this technique. Less split ends with clean horizontal cuts, than cutting into the strands diagonally :)

I tried the pigtail cut and even though it looked ok, it still felt weird, like one side of my hair was slightly longer and thicker than the other. I ended up doing a unicorn cut on wet hair and the result was perfect, I didn't do additional layers, the cut tidied up my hair and evened everything out beautifully.
this is exactly what i want in a hair cut so scared to try it myself but with nowhere to go now is def the time! lolll may i ask what scissors are you using?
