Actually you got it rigth the first time, Martabak Telur and Martabak Terang Bulan (the sweet one) should not eat by yourself or two of you, it should eat by whole family, about 4 to 6 people. Usually a man bring martabak when the go to date a woman, as a gift to the father of the woman and her family.
When she asked you want the original mixture, or a chocolate brownies mixture or a black forest colour, or even a red velvet dough mixture even there's pandan flavoured mixture. They add food colouring to the dough mixture for the martabak manis. And yes all of the martabak manis comes with added sugar and condensed milk. So be wary, you can tell them to have it a little or u can request without the condensed milk or sugar.

The martabak vendor said "Ajinomoto" It's basically an MSG to make the food a little bit more flavourful and salty. It's quite common when uses in martabak. 👍😁
5:54 seems like the seller says Ajinomoto, a brand of MSG (Mono Sodium Glutamate), a kind of additional ingredient used in some food in Indonesia..cmiiw

Happy to see you back Carolina and Jay, it seems you guys are still enjoying over there. There are 2 types of martabak; a salty one is named Martabak asin and sweety one is named Martabak Manis. Next round please try "martabak manis istimewa tipis" and tell me if you like it. Martabak is one of popular street foods in Indonesia whereever you go overthere you can find it... Many time I have tried to make its, unfortunately it was always failled😂😂😂.. Take care...and thank you to share it.
Glad both of you enjoy martabak. I like to eat them too, now have them in my fridge right now for entertainment food lol. Other delicious Indonesian food & drinks I recommend: pempek, tahu telor, sate padang, soto ayam, cendol drink, nasi padang + rendang sapi, and indomie (yes, cheap packaged indomie sold in minimarkets, esp soto and kari version). 5:48 Fyi, the first one is not sugar, but salt. The second one is MSG. Ajinomoto is the famous Japanese brand of MSG in Indonesia. Fun fact, the original name for Martabak Manis is Terang Bulan, or you can translate it as Moonlight Pancake. Since a long time ago, the martabak sellers always sell their martabak (the one called martabak telur now) along with terang bulan. Then some sellers started to call terang bulan as martabak manis. Maybe because they want to differentiate between the savory martabak and the sweet terang bulan easier. Btw, as far as I know, the name Martabak Manis is only recognized in some parts of Jawa and Bali area. Outside Jawa and Bali, people still call the pancake as Terang Bulan instead of Martabak Manis. Indonesian Martabak is a variation of Arabian-Middle Eastern meat-stuffed folded pan-fried omelette called Murtabak. While Terang Bulan is an Indonesianized version of Chinese dessert called Hok Lo Pan, but the chocolate sprinkles filling has a touch of Dutch influence. Btw, martabak tastes even better if eaten with pickles (cucumber, carrot, shallot, green bird-eye chili) and its vinegar sauce. The pickles and the sauce enhance the flavor of the martabak and wash away that greasy taste in your mouth.

Congratulations on your first sweet and savory martabak! Yes indeed they are very delicious (although now in my 40s I wouldn't have them after 6PM due to the "richest rich" amount of calories they hold!). Keep on enjoying Indonesia!

You should get martabak from Martabak Pecenongan78. And dont mix cheese with choco peanut, u can choose half choco peanut and half cheese. That's better that mix it all.
You have to try Martabak Legend in Bandung Andir This place has been running for more than 45 years and they have more flavor choices the dough is different and so delicious, not too heavy.
