So is that now your 10 out of 10? I wish you'd do quite a bit more of these layering videos it's been far too long. Was hoping you'd make it a thing & a series. C'Mon man give us a new one soon please. 😀
I have a Trifecta: Base Dior Sauvage Elixir,Mid Jean Paul Gaultier "Le Parfum",and Top Giorgio Profumo! I actually mixed them in a bottle. Elixir is Beast Mode need more of the others to tone it down. The Trifecta is an amazing rich and powerful mix!!! Give it a try!
I was letting a friend smell all three on test strips separately. Later he came back and had me smell them together. Just messing around I didn't measure, just went by what smelt the best. Made a little 2ml bottle of it. If I do it again I will say how many sprays of each.
Moschino Toy Boy + Penhaligons Opus 1870 is extremely nice. It makes the Opus much louder than it is on its own, giving it the projection it deserves. It blends the Opus peppers with the amazing pepper from Toy Boy and accentuates the rose notes from both.
Blue de Chanel and PDM's Herod made ppl at work stop in their tracks to give me a compliment. Ppl who got a closer smell made faces, stepped back and said like "Damn! That smells good!"
I really enjoy your creative content. As for layering, I prefer spraying each fragrance side by side on the back of each arm, overlapping only a couple inches. It allows each fragrance to shine and contribute equally to the overall smell. One that I enjoy is combining Acqua di Parma Colonia club with Mont Blanc explorer
I think Eros also layers well with Most Wanted! I think it maintains the character of MW while cooling it down a bit so it actually smells nice in warmer weather.
I find a great way to get an idea of how well a combo might work on skin is to spray one on each pulse point on your wrists, then bring your hands together and catch a whiff in the triangle that creates. 🙏 I have just tested the Edition Blanche and Eros EDT combination in this manner and I very much get what Omar has described here 👌
When I go to try layering, I spray only one brand on one hand (usually the favorite of my two or just the EDT alone), then the combo on the other so I can smell both all day long & see how the combo compares and the differences in smell vs the one fragrance alone. And it allows me to see how long which hands holds up in longevity more. I have noticed usually spraying the EDP over the EDT seems to make the EDT smell hold up much longer from my experiments.
I tried Aqua di Gio Profondo and MB Explorer, not my favorite tbh, i prefer both individual. ISO E Super works with basically all scents, i love to layer it with Guerlain l'homme Ideal cool, it works magic on my skin. It leaves a beautiful scent trail and i got tons of compliments for it. It even beats sauvage /Carbon in this regard.
I love layering rather flat Citrus Fragrances like Acqua di Gio Profondo, Light Blue etc. with heavy smoke fragrances like Bois d'Ascese, A City on Fire or even Noir Anthracite. Gives the citrus fragrance A LOT more depth and gives some early batch Aventus vibes. However, you need to go heavy on the trigger with the citrus fragrance and light with the smoke fragrance. I'm very picky when it comes to layering, but this is a combination that always worked for me.
Rasasi Hawas and Gucci Guilty black- for the first 15/20 minutes you can only smell Hawas but on the dry down, once it’s settled for a while it’s a great mix
I recently mixed some perfumes that are almost empty as an experiment and had very interesting results to say the least. So I mixed White Musk Sport + Dior Sauvage EDT (60% WMS 40% DS) = Very masculine with spectacular performance. I assume not for everyone since White Musk and Sauvage each in itself are already hard hitters but the dry down the White Musk really extends the top notes of Sauvage in a very interesting way. It’s like Sauvage in steroids (in a good way). Next I mixed Mont Blanc Explorer + Bleu de Chanel EDP + Dylan Blue (50% MBE, 30% BDC, 20% DB) = Can’t put my finger on it, but I like it. It’s NOT Mont Blanc Ultra Blue at all, the scent is unrecognizable (in a good way). If I were to describe the scent, it is like it’s made to be the best crowd pleaser ever. Anyway, just throwing it out there. It’s nothing serious, just a bit of fun. Let me know what you guys think.
ANYTHING to make Sauvage more interesting is all for probably the better now these days. I still like Sauvage very much but it's become way too much of the common standard much too worn by most men now, so much so that it doesn't get the compliments that Sauvage use to get from women. So imho I'm all for adding something extra to any Sauvage brands to come up with something more unique.
I make a layerin accidentally with PDM godolphin and Dior sauvage elixir and wooowww it smell amazing alots of compliments every where ,I recommend this for winter ❄️ or just cool weather
Great suggestion I will save for sure. But sadly at this time the PDM Godolphin is way out of my price range limit over double what the Sauvage EDP cost me. I suppose the PDM brand has to be really great or better than Sauvage. I hope it would be for over double the price. Just curious was the PDM Godolphin a EDP or EDT spray that you have? Thanks.
Hi! Thank you for featuring my suggestion in your video.. This is a great concept and I really dig this. Here are some more that you may like: 1. Hacivat (3 sprays) + 100 silent ways (2 sprays) 2. Aventus (2 sprays) + BR 540 (1 spray) 3. Jo Malone oud & bergamot (1 spray) + Jo Malone orange blossom (2 sprays)
@@devctvd11 my new favorite layer is Burberry Brit Rythym EDT, then I spray on top of that Dolce & Gabbana THE ONE EDP. Magical unique fragrance combo imo. It seems spraying the EDP on top of the EDT, makes the EDT of the Burberry Brit hold up much longer also in longevity up to 18+hrs.
I realy like these video's and gives me some great ideas about what could work. Now we're in lockdown over here, I've tried a few myself. If a combo goes wrong, the only person who's going to be annoyed by it will be myself. Guerlain Homme EdP with Tabac Original Craftsman and also Guerlain Homme EdP with Tabac Man Gravity, are awesome combinations. It smooths down the mojito scent of the Guerlain with either the soapy/ barbershop leather scent (Craftsman), or soapy/ barbershop woody scent (Gravity) into a more warmer opening and mid of the Guerlain. The combo with Gravity is the better one out of the two, because the woodnotes from both scents compliment eachother realy well.
I had two cheapies I bought for I was shocked at how good it was the gym (Blue Seduction ..Antonio Bandaras...over Maritime by Tommy Bahama....These are cool and I hope you keep it up...
Layering has always been quite a controversial topic in fragcom, but the word on the street is that Dior has instructed their sales reps to tell customers that Dior Sauvage Elixir should be layered with the edt. In all fairness this combination is to die for!
If Dior Sauvage is suggesting that their Elixir should be layered with their edt then that doesn't sound good for the sale of their Elixir. Makes the Elixir sound weak if they are suggesting using another layer of their own product? Just saying. And imho, Dior Sauvage has been worn now by so many men it's too standard & doesn't get the compliments it use to get because women are so use to smelling it now. I get more compliments these days just wearing Davidoff Cool Water than I do Sauvage anymore sadly. Sauvage has just become way too common now. Imho.
@@WrestlingErnestHemingway to be honest Elixir is on its own really good fragrance very niches quality even tho it’s a flanker of tge original edt I think people who suggest layer it with the edt only because Elixir is quite dark and they want to make it brighter which in my opinion not necessarily
I tried Baldisarrini black layered with Lagerfield Bois de Vetiver and it smelled elegant and beautiful till the next morning, really enjoyed the outcome of a scent. tonight while watching this I decided to try Fahrenheit edt with again Bois de vetiver...it milded the sharpness so far. Let me note as we usually forget to mention about the region of the world and how it can affect the scent. Umeå in the north of Sweden.
Thanks for this suggestion. I haven't tried Zara Vibrant Leather but my main go to Leather has always been the famous (but now old) English Leather by Dana. I did notice looking up that Zara Vibrant Leather is very inexpensive about the same price as English Leather. So, I will mix my Club de Nuit Intense with my main English Leather now that you put this combo suggestion out. Looking forward to try them together. Thanks again.
Good suggestion I will note & keep in mind for sure. I combine Dolce & Gabbana The One EDP with Burberry Brit Rhythm Intense EDT and it also makes a magical amazing combo.
ADG and Explorer smells like chrome aqua with a smokey dry down to me. I'd never thought of layering the two. How someone decided to layer cool water and individuel is insane!!
Right? I think I will try Cool Water with BRIT RHYTHM EDT. I think that might make for a nice combo possibly. I use BRIT RHYTHM EDT with Dolce & Gabbana THE ONE EDP and it's the one I have got the most compliments with ever. Just an amazing combo.
Dear Teacher, These mixing of chemicals scares me, but I will try to continue to experiment with my small collection. Do you have any recommendations for combination of shower gel / bath soap with fragrances? Kind regards, Your Student
Combining shower gel with fragrances doesn't work as the fragrance oil will just sit on top and won't really mix with the shower gel. Tried it with a good amount of some leftover Zara Fragrance I didn't need anymore and it added absolutely nothing to my shower gel.
Hi Omar! Okay so I tried some things with layering and I think you'll like this combo: Spicebomb infrared (or extreme maybe too) + polo red extreme. It is sooooo good. Let me know what you think!
Try elysium with oud wood... amazing!!! Equal parts... I spray side by side not on top of eachother let them work together it's awesome thank me later...
Bvlgari Wood Neroli + Tom Ford Neroli Portofino or Portofino Forte. They both kind of fill in what the other is missing. The TF gives the Bvlgari a little bit of brightness that it lacks, and the Bvlgari give it a little bit of a woody base. It really feels like you're just filling in all the blanks here. The notes put together strike a whole chord.
Ive tried Dolce Gabbana the one edp + one million edt, maybe the new elixer would smell better but from what ive tried seems to smell really nice, a very warm and inviting combination.
Interesting combo suggestion. At this point I will settle for trying anything that makes for more of noticeable edge to the over worn Sauvage. I think Sauvage has lost it's appeal to women now because so many men wear it now. Sauvage has lost it's main appeal & swag because of that reason imo.
Spicebomb and Dunhill Fresh/Ajmal Vision. More Spicy with some rich woody notes and hints of bergamot on top. Montblanc Individuel with Hugo Boss Just Different is also quite amazing.
I tried mixing Montblanc Explorer and Gucci Guilty EDT, which are my two least liked in my collection, and ironically they work well together. The vanilla in Guilty complements the sharpness of Explorer.
@@SchoolOfScent totally true. I found this to be the case as I was originally NOT a fan of Dolce & Gabbana THE ONE EDP. It smelled way too strong to me. But I strangely put on Burberry BRIT RHYTHM EDT first one morning, which my wife liked a lot, then I asked her what she thought of THE ONE and she liked that also. So I sprayed it on top of the Burberry BRIT RHYTHM EDT and she said that was magical & I totally agreed. It's still my very favorite combo that I discovered. I found it amazing also that the EDT of the Burberry BRIT RHYTHM even smelled like it over powered THE ONE EDP. And both odors lasted a good 24 hours. I totally give this combo a 10 out of 10.
Interesting submissions, once again! Thanks for those insights. I tried some continuations myself in the past months.. And the one I most often come back to is: Stronger With You Intensely + V&R Spicebomb Extreme. I would be really keen to know what the expert thinks of it! 🙂
I just got intensely for Christmas. Didn't like it at first but its growing on me a lot. Smells like Christmas in a bottle even if it's a little feminine. Never actually smelled spicebomb though.
If I wear PDM Akaster in the evening I'll almost always wear Millesime Imperial the next day. The lingering sweet oud really boosts the combination and rounds it out between dark and fresh. I'm curious to try layering with 1 Million Lucky.
Tobacolor and oud for greatness, ideal intense and allure homme, le male Essence de parfum and Versace pour homme, platinum egoiste and ultra male are some of my favorites
I use Lataffas Al Shuyuk final edition + Fakhar to create a perfekt cheap Ysl y edp clone. the final edition has the nicer opening and Fakhar brings the bubble gum sweetnes and longlasting effect.
Blending fragrances on the skin is something that I have tried to do in the past, but I just started getting a collection so I haven't had much success. I'll be trying this again soon.
Base Dior elixir and top Vince Camuto terra extreme eau de Parfum I agree Dior elixir is a beast .. smelling like a burning camp fire.. and VC Terra seems a little synthetic, but as the 2 scents dry down together it turns into a creamy musk .. very nice.
I actually read his comment and decided to wear my 1 million lucky with my creed and mannn I was getting so many ppl asking me what I was wearing at work that night. ( I’m a bartender while I’m in school right now as well )
I'm trying it right now and think it smells awful. The Creed just decimates 1 Million Lucky, at least in the beginning. Smells like Millessime Imperial with something weird nondescriptive mixed in.
@@SchoolOfScent I think I have found that using a EDP with a EDT makes the EDT actually last longer. I could be wrong but that is my experience in the case of my use of using Burberry BRIT RHYTHM EDT with Dolce & Gabbana THE ONE EDP. I sprayed one layer of the BRIT on one arm, then the combo of both on the other arm and the arm with just the EDT was fading after about 8hrs, and the other arm with both combined I was still smelling the Burberry BRIT RHYTHM EDT strongly well into 19hrs. Maybe try this study in your next "Art Of Layering Fragrances" video? Does the EDT last longer when combining with an EDP? Something to note if you ever do this study. I put the EDP OVER on top of the EDT. Seems to make the EDT possibly even last longer from my experience. ?
