Cosmic Neutron is MVPs most stable plastic. MVP flight numbers are typically more stable than other manufactures' discs with similar numbers but they season into their numbers.
I definitely found that out when I wanted a premium plastic disc with the same numbers as a Leopard so I got a cosmic neutron Relay. They couldn't look and fly any more different.
Cosmic Neutron, Eclipse 2.0 Glow and Proton are MVP/Axiom's most stable plastics. If you want a neutral Crave try Neutron, Plasma and Fission as they will show the -1 turn.
The cosmic neutron crave for me is the same stability as the new C-line FD's. I had and lost a Proton Crave that I really liked. The Proton plastic had a nice flip up to flat and glide flight. After I lost the Proton I ended trying something else because there are so many discs out there and I've been really happy with the Millennium JLS(Sirius plastic) that I picked up as a replacement.
I have a JLS(sirius), a (new)FD(C-line), and a Hawkeye(Gstar). I like the Hawkeye a lot - it quickly breaks in to a true -1 1, and despite that, still handles moderate wind quite well, and I don't know why but goes farther than the FD which is almost identical but with more fade.
Never have thrown a Crave, but I was thinking his Cosmic flew like my new C Line FD, and the Proton one flew like my old Innova-made S-Line FD. Maybe I’ll try a Proton Crave if I ever lose my S-Line FDs.
Mine did the same as the neutron one when I first bought it. I would but so much power into it on a slight hyzer and it would just flip up to flat and go super straight with no turn, maybe a baby turn at times. As I beat it in it started to turn a little and would fade a little less, and I loved it. Its so great for straight shots. Dont let the speed number fool you either, that thing can bomb too.
@@IceBergTV you might want try have chuck Norris punch it.😅 the premium plastic seems to take years to beat in. Back when they made the neutron shock fairway. it took me 6 years to see any change from its flight.proton seems to fly like its a slightly season nuetron, but beats in slower... Side note I was only throwing 4 or 5 other disc, shock was my go to. After throwing it for 13years I just couldn't reliably trust the stability. Retired Those hokum ones so very flippy. Havent tried 1 since before covid
Same. I got a fission crave from badanza that I have beat in nicely and my proton which is much newer and I except it to stay slightly more stable as it beats in.
@@AlanS_DGC I also have a Bodanza fission 170g crave that is just pure gold. I can only throw it on hyzer to keep it from burning over but dear god that disc just wants to stay inthe air. easiest 300ft with almost no power
@@coryy8792 mine is 171g and it has quickly become the workhorse in my bag. So true about east distance too. So so fun to throw. I can’t wait to get off work to get a round in.
With the crave (and all MVP discs fOaR that Matter...) throwing it at different speeds but with the same (relative...) degree of spin each time isn't going to unlock what the disc can really do or even get it to do what you want it to at the different stages of flight. Only when the player figures out how willfully and deliberately choose between 75%, 100%, 125-175%, and even "overclocking" the spin to 200-225% AND at the different speeds-down-range will the crave (or any MVP disc....) truly separate itself from all the "other" discs out there with similar flight numbers. Hope this helps...(^_^).
Those are the 2 most stable types of Craves. You just need to get a Hokem Crave. Anything Cosmic Neutron is about +1.5 stability and the Proton is about +0.5. Those are Craves, but they are the AM1 and Open editions.
Proton seems to fly very similar to my older (2018) Discmania FD. But Discmania does not have that disc anymore so if I need a replacement then it will very likely be Crave.
I have a Hokom Crave that is very torque resistant and will just go dead straight with a consistent mild to moderate fade. My 167 Neutron Crave is definitely more flippy and my 150 fission Crave was even more understable. I bought a proton thinking it would be the most stable but my max weight Hokom Crave is still the most stable.
Sarah Hokom neutron Craves at 175g are basically laser straight out of the box-a slight turn with a touch of fade at the end. Beat one in, or get one at 165g, and they'll drift right and hold whatever line you put 'em on. I bag two at any given time, a fresher 175g and a beat-in one, and I use 'em for everything from 200' forehand upshots to 325' backhand drives. Both of my aces have been with that beat-in Crave, and pretty much all I need for the woods is a newer Crave and a putting putter.
You have the two most stable platics 😅 In my experience proton has been the most stable mvp plastic and stays pretty much the same as it beats in, whereas cosmic neutron starts with proton stability when it's new and beats in nicely to newer neutron stability
Yeah. MVP/Axiom is the discs where you can and should test lighter weights. They will blow your mind. The overmold gives it stability. especially torque resistance. Cosmic neutrons are ALWAYS beef. I think they come out even flatter lol.
My experience is cosmic neutron is on of there more overstable platic types, if not the most overstable! I tried a Crave for the same reason you were, something to bridge the gap between mids but not a Teebird3 or a Hawkeye. I landed on a 172 plasma Crave, it will hold that -1 turn when thrown anny out of the hand, but the 1 fade kicks in before it gets to the ground. Gyro plastc does need that good snap to show the true flight numbers.
The crave in the beginning is very straight but after like 3 or 4 rounds the disc starts to get flippy. That’s when you will have to start throwing hyzer flips. That’s what I use mine for now
Fission crave is basically a different disc from the ones you threw. Exactly what you were saying, nice hyzer flip to straight or slight turnovers, even with lower arm speeds.
I work at a disc golf shop and the realty is every Crave run seems to be a whole new disc with different parting lines than the last run. If you want a back up bring in your disc and find one with the same parting line. That said, it’s still one of my favorite discs. A straight fairway that rarely seems to fly differently than you expect it to.
For me, Eclipse crave is straight with fade at end. Sarah Hokem edition that is straight with subtle turn and maybe sone fade back at end. I lost my fav that was dead straight.
I disagree. I bag many craves but never keep a fission in it. Seem to try them and just always go back to my protons and neutrons. Fission plastic just keeps them straight with a little more straight glide.
They sent you the 2 most OS Craves made. Get a Hokom Crave and try that. I’ve bagged the Hokom for well over a year now. I own the other craves but do not bag them because I don’t feel I need anything between the Prism Pyro and Proton Tesla for over stability.
Cosmic neutron is super beefy. Proton not as much but probably beefier than the regular neutron. I have a Photon in proton plastic and its a meat hook for my arm. I have a regular neutron crave, but its kinda flippy, so i definitely want to add the cosmic to my bag.
Crave is the one of the best discs from beginner up to pros. Fission Crave is an absolute bomber and amazing. My Cosmic Neutron is very torque resistant.
I have regular neutron and proton. The neutron is less stable. I need to get a cosmic neutron and then I could use these exclusively as fairway drivers. Eclipse would also be amazing.
If you're looking for a higher speed meteor, you may try the discraft zombee. They fly straight out of the box, and then start moving right on a flat release. I love mine.
I personally have a low arm speed. I've tried a few different fairway drivers (and some distance drivers). This Crave and my Latitude 64 River are definitely my favorite 2. I find I'm more consistent with the Crave but have a higher max distance on the River (in calm weather).
What were the weights for each? For overmold, all weight is added to rim and nothing is added to faceplate. This means heavier discs utilize more of the gyro stabilization which either will add glide or make it more stable. My experience has been it makes it more stable - not just because of weight but weight specifically on the rim only
I would try a neutron (non cosmic) or justvwait a few weeks for the proton to beat slightly. When I pump my neutron crave it flips, turns and goes as far as my 9 speeds.
I found the crave to be pretty stable as well. I do have a naturally slight hyzer release which does have an impact. I found the kasta Kaxe Z to fly the way I wanted the craves to fly in that 6(ish) speed slot for lower speed woods shot shaping lines.
You should try an mvp resistor. It's also a 6 speed but is super overstable. Mine is neutron, and now that it's beat in. It's a really reliable driver for me.
I knew the Craves can be pretty stable, but the part that is almost shocking to me watching these is the amount of fade in a "straight" 6,5 speed disc. If you throw a River, FD, Zombee, Leopard, Maverick, etc that flips up for you, it's not going to have this dumping fade and might even finish rather straight. Just like the longer mid you were describing. To me even the Neutron Crave doesn't have any similarities with the Meteor you mentioned or pretty much any mid in general. To me those look more like Eagles or something like that.
Thanks for the throw comparison, love to see the plastics difference. Just used a Crave today for some straight woods fairways. Have the Proton. Agree, if your speed is low not a great choice. Wondering, you still using the pinch-power grip for drives off the tee ?
@@TheMakki I had tried a stalker, precovid. I think it was z plastic. It was as stable as the cosmic crave but leaning towards more OS. I think it would be closer to a new volt.
My proton crave 173 seemed to be getting past the point of beat it and beat up probably not 173 anymore😂 I grabbed a 148 fission crave beat it in and that thing will hold turn and never come out $,now its paired with a 169 fission crave. I get some great flip ups or flat gets some turn and slow late gentle fade. Also takes way less effort= better accuracy! Don't be afraid to drop 5-10 grams It will fly true and still handle the wind. If its a really stiff hw, I have a new 172 proton crave.
I bag 2 craves. One is more US than my other. I can throw it max distance...300+ ft and it can beat my speed 13 DD's. It taught me you can throw any FD as far as any DD.
@@IceBergTV If you find one, I would honestly be willing to pay for it. I lost mine two years ago when I let a buddy throw one for the round. I seriously haven’t found one since, so if you do, just know I’d happily be willing to pay. Maybe even send you a dyed disc too. I just miss that OG Crave
If ur looking something less stable you should give the relay a try. Same speed but def flippier...I have about 350(driver) power and a relay will hyzer flip for me where a crave is dead straight for me
My experience was that it was not matching the flight numbers I would expect. Mvp/axiom/streamline all seen beefier and need more speed then numbers suggest.
Dude I love my crave I got 2 special edition ones in fission plastic the one i throw beat in pretty understable and its great for low power hyzerflips.
Ya gotta let em break in my guy. That's why. Ya gotta ask yourself this question...."Why is this the internets favorite fairway? Once that plastic dials in its game ovah.
I noticed you seem to release on a natural hyzer. Halfway through the roundyou seem to release the disc flatter. Anyway that hyzer release is causing it to appear more stable than it is.
there is NO WAY that's a 6.5 speed. with a rim width of 1.8cm and a height of only 1.4cm, it's an 8speed at least (if not a 9speed because it's so slim). so not at all "beginner-friendly" as you were thinking and saying. I just hate it when they mess up the numbers to spur sales. it sucks really. there are companies I won't buy because of that.
No way it's a 9. I threw a Crave for a couple seasons in place of a TL (7 speed) and saw no difference. I don't throw anything else faster than a 7 and throwing the Crave properly was not a problem.
Foot fault. I bag off and on a neutron crave. Out of the box they are slightly stable but eventually they beat in to be flippyish. Very similar to a slower FD
