Lechuza should partner with you to design a proper self watering pot for orchids

The big lip would also be a major concern of mine as well; anytime I've put ventilation holes on the sides of any interior pot that had no lip space with the "sheath" pot, I've had major root rot issues because of lack of air flow. Lost several types of orchids that way.

I think I love these pots, shape and design are so different from what I usually see. I'm going to try a couple if I can find them, thank you Dani for showing them! 🐦🌱😍💓

I actually ordered a bag of orchidpon last week to test out 😏 I grow all my orchids in Seramis and it seems quite similar, it will be nice to compare our results. I also have been checking out these Lechuza pots, but they seem quite expensive. I did want to try one, but I think I will be trying a self watering insert which is a lot cheaper😀 that way if I don’t like it, I wouldn’t be sorry I spent way to much on something I will never use.

Would you consider doing vids for carnivorous plants? :D i think you have sundews, right? I have one that i've managed to keep alive for the past 4 months or so (Drosera capensis), currently hoping i can get the seeds from its flower spike to sprout so i can have more but not 100% sure if i'm doing it right. I'm also not sure if the carnivorous plant medium i got for it is really the best

Hi GreyDevil! I have a on of carnivorous plants and I do this all the time. All you do is when the drosera is in bloom, snip a bud AFTER a flower has faded (I would wait a couple of days after it fades). Take the tiny bud and you can either 1.) sprinkle the seeds into a small container to allow you to plant 1-3 per tiny pot OR 2.) sprinkle directly on top of sphag moss or a peat/sand mixture (press the seeds very lightly after sprinkling). And then I would cover this pot/container with plastic wrap or something to raise the humidity while the seeds sprout and grow to a bigger size. Put this pot/container in a very bright/direct sun spot. Hope this helps! :-)

@@ryanmetzler2211 Thanks for the tip! I had a hard time getting the seeds out of the small flower buds, is there a trick to it or do i just crush them open? And how small are the seeds? Like would i be able to recognize them? I'm worried they'd be tiny and i wouldn't be able to discern them from the bits of dried flower bud
@geraldineenslin3701
@geraldineenslin3701 2 года назад
@@GreyDevil I usually wait until the bud has turned brown/black and then just crush it between my fingers over a piece of white paper. You will clearly see the black seeds and there shouldn't be much other materials in between. If you want to store your seeds, pop them in the fridge... They will last a year or two longer.

I was going to ask if you had tried the orchid pon it is a different mix you can see the differences on their website. I have put most of my phals in it and they seem ok

I do not like these pot at all, I think they are badly designed and not suitable for orchids. I am looking forward to seeing the results and who knows I may change my mind. Love your video's. 🌾

Maybe a nice tall Oncidium would work better in those pots.

Even in cold climates I worry about the mold accumulation under the lip of the inner pot :/
@heathersgoinnuts

If you go to their website, they have them used with oncidium and miltoniopsis types. Maybe they would be better with terrestrial-type orchids.

I only use pon as the bottom layer of my houseplants not orchids, and I would actually use this pot for my Miltoniopsis or Oncidium orchids. Just ordered this pot in red. Basically, orchids which do not have aerial roots,…🤗

Dani, I am new to Orchids and am starting with phalaenopsis. I repotted into a moss mulch mix, then took the stems and based them with moss, water, and a touch of cloning paste (I heard mixed opinions on ). I made a case to grow in with lights and such, anyway, my question is regions. I hear you talk a lot about your region, I live in the northeast US in New Hampshire. If you live in the states, what part, how does the climate differ, and any tips would be great. Please help a homebound disabled man with a new hobby out please, my wife kills every plant she touches. 🪴🪴🪴

Lechuza deltini model is proper to orchids? Which model you recommend?

Does anybody else find it strange that the inside pot is also slightly exposed in the front of the decorative pot? Seems like a curious design choice - especially considering the tall back. Weird.

Dani, I know this is way off topic. But what does your shirt say? My teenage daughter loves shirts like that. She's had so many struggles as a teenage girl, with a few chronic illnesses that have always made her feel different than everyone else. I'm teaching her that different is NOT bad. Being different is a good thing! She has also had a lot of body image struggles. But,.please, can you tell me what it says, and where I can possibly order it. Thank you so much in advance! Love this channel!

Hi, well it's a lot of text, I'll take a picture and post it in the community section for you! It's locally purchased and not sure you have this brand in your country, but it can always be printed on a different tshirt :D hug your daughter from me! 🧡

Yeah, those pots look too big, would take up too much shelf space, which means fewer orchids!

Way too big! I could not fit as many orchids on my shelves if I used those. Even if you drill holes in the sides of the pots, that large lip that seals at the top would not allow air in. Let us know how it goes!

I don’t care for the lechusa pots at all. They’re not pretty, they look bulky and they aren’t conducive to the way we grow orchids.
@CrochetxStab

These pots seem like a great way to kill an orchid for the general orchid grower. I have no doubt you will be able to rescue your Phals from this experiment before they get into trouble. However, I worry about the general public, (and the orchids!) when I see products like this that seem to just be labeled to make money.
