The ones with ingredients added are sweeter because even though they've added less sugar to the mixture, the ratio of chocolate to sugar is more concentrated than if it was a chocolate only bar.
@cestlavemimi
@cestlavemimi 2 года назад
Makes sense! The original and almond bars are (roughly) the same volume, but the almonds take up space. So, the almond bar technically has less chocolate, which will make that chocolate sweeter by volume if the same amount (or slightly more) sugar is added.
@MariW736
@MariW736 2 года назад
Oh wow, I would have thought they would have used the same chocolate mixture in just a smaller quantity, but I guess your point actually makes sense since the whole bar overall has the same grams of sugar. I never would have thought it. Thank you! 😁
@MariW736
@MariW736 2 года назад
@@emeraldbonsai however they do the actual manufacturing, the original comment does seem valid, because they have a smaller quantity of chocolate in the bar, but the packaging says it’s the same amount of sugar. As far as I know the sugar isn’t in the almonds or the quinoa, so that means that that extra sugar is in fact mixed in to the smaller quantity of chocolate. Obviously I don’t have personal knowledge, but I can’t really think of any other way it would be possible to have the same amount of sugar even though it’s less chocolate. 🤷‍♀️

Here’s what I think is going on with the sweeter bar. It’s the quinoa. It’s complimenting the chocolate and sugar. When not properly prepared it can have a bitter and soapy taste. But when washed and rinsed properly, quinoa will have a roasted sesame or roasted peanut flavor. When it’s added to the chocolate, and it has to be when the chocolate is warm, the flavor of the quinoa is being released in the chocolate. So the quinoa may be enhancing the flavor and perceived sweetness.

Like some other people are pointing out, I’m wondering if the extra sweetness does result from the extra stuff in the chocolate. It makes enough sense, if you add a whole bunch of stuff to the chocolate but keep the same amount of sugar in the bar, you would make a sweeter batch. But you also mentioned that the regular bar had an extra gram of added sugar, so I wonder if that extra gram takes care of sweetening the chocolate otherwise replaced by almonds or quinoa crunch nodules. I’m kinda curious how this is working lol
@plipplop1769

I was wondering how the ingredients were produced and I couldn't find anything about that on feastables webbsite. The fact that the ingredients are organic is good but it doesn't say anything about the working conditions or how much (or little) they pay the workers that pick and produce those ingredients. That is hugely important for people to know and anyone that cares about where their food comes from are aware that many, if not most, big chocolate/cocoa producers and companies use or have in the past used slave labour (including children) or something very very close to slave labour to pick/produce ingredients. This is such common knowledge and it makes the fact that I can't find anything about how and where the chocolate and its components is made/picked even weirder. I feel like since they don't try to push it in our faces they either don't care to know or check up on the conditions of where their ingredients come from or they know the ingredients come from an unethical source and they just hope no one cares enough to ask. If they used ethically sourced ingredients you know they would have marketed the hell out of it, or am I just too cynical? On a sweeter note, if you want to try some nice chocolate that comes from a company that is transparent and that are trying to do actual good in the world, check out Tony's Chocolonely. Their 70% dark chocolate is the first dark chocolate I've found that I really enjoy the flavour of and they are available in a bunch of different contries.

I bought the 18 pack. I honestly thought they are really good. They taste like bars made of semisweet chocolate chips. One of the better chocolate bars I’ve had, and they seem like they’ll melt really well. I didn’t notice any of the bars tasting sweeter than the others. None of my bars were broken. Just another experience. My only problem with them was that they are sort of expensive and that you have to order them. Now that I know they’re at Walmart I’ll definitely try to get them from there.

I know if they added salt to the ones with mix ins that could enhance the flavor a bit. Possibly making it seem sweeter due to the way our taste buds interpret flavor and savory and sweet can come off as more rich in flavor.

I have the same thing with my teeth sensitivity to sweetness. My dentist told me I can’t really do anything, just get enamel repairing toothpaste. If I’m gonna eat something overly sweet, I’ll rub it on my teeth before. I also find that cheaper chocolate is more painful to eat. Does that mean Mr. Beast is high-end?

As am FYI. the bars are 60g which is way less than regular 100g bars. They claim they have simple ingredients and use organic cocoa beans. They also dont use any artificial sweeteners. All of this together I believe does make it a great alternative because it doesnt contain those weird additives in cheaper chocolate, but the price point is rather steep (in canada, 100g non-organic bars go between 1-5$ CAD)
@Polyeurythane

Others in the comments section also mentioned that it was hard to find where the chocolate was sourced from. Apparently they are Rainforest Alliance certified but people have pointed out that RA hasn’t been great about actually protecting people. So there’s another thing to think about before deciding to buy.

I guess additional ingredients in the bar reduce the amount of cocoa (which is not naturally sweet), so sugar content becomes denser. Hence, the chocolate tastes sweeter.

Many adults have teeth sensitivity. It's probably caused by the enamel of your teeth being worn down after years of wear. It's very common to get a toothache while eating sweets.
