In this video, I play a 10-minute chess game in the lichess.org's Hourly Rapid Arena. After a strange opening, my opponent played flawlessly and it became clear from post-game analysis that nearly every move matched Stockfish's top choice. However, I tried to fight and use the clock as a weapon.
Analyze the game here: lichess.org/98...
Shortly after this game, I received a rating refund and my opponent's account has since been closed.

actually to be technical it could actually help a real chess player to see how to beat a master. in no way am I condoning cheating at all. but look at all sides to why something is done and maybe you can learn from POS people. when someone cheats I try to think of it as a free stockfish training session. in today's world. soon we will only be playing against bots. and POS people. truth is a dying race.

I wouldn’t assume this cheater will analyse the computers moves in order to learn how to be a better player during the game. They simply play the strongest move without thought with the aim to win. Post analysis of games you lose is sufficient for improving, not a tournament setting. If there was an argument to spin cheating into “technically” being morally sound, the cheater should still resign rather than go for mate. Fat chance of seeing that happen though.

Nah, this one is definitely using stockfish , the time it takes for him to move in the start and the end has a major shift in attitude , most likely is he tried to look “human” in the first few minutes but then completely threw it of the board when his time is closing in. Second is the opening , he has a questionable (try to france) opening, then had a inhuman move with the rook , to prevent repetition.

Followed along with Stockfish. That weird Na3 move and the e7 move at the end were the only ones played that weren't one of the top two Stockfish moves. You only played (I think) two or three that weren't top 2. His computer must be really shitty to need Stockfish to calculate for 10-20 seconds every time and end up flagging. My computer found the move he was going to play within 1-2 seconds.
@kenmendoza6932
@kenmendoza6932 4 года назад
Taking 10 seconds to move doesnt mean he has a shit computer. Engine usually analyzes moves for a certain amount of time before picking the top move regardless the position. Thats why time usage is constant.
@rykehuss3435
@rykehuss3435 3 года назад
@@kenmendoza6932 Engines can spit out great moves in fraction of a second, those moves are more than enough to beat any human. They would just lose against the same engine if it had more time per move. Engines analyze against themselves, they dont know anything about human play or what the players are actually doing or their ideas.
@jared4575
@jared4575 3 года назад
They might have been using an analysis game on another tab so switching between tabs and manually putting in moves may have made it slower
@renerpho
@renerpho 3 года назад
This may not have anything to do with either the computer or the engine. They may be knowing so little about chess that they don't know which moves are natural and which require thought, and so they try to keep the time consistent in an attempt to not raise suspicion. It has the exact opposite effect of what's intended, but that just reinforces the notion that they are stupid.

I have starting trying to learn more of chess, I feel like I'm barely playing at a 1000 right now, the problem is that a computer tells me what is and isn't a good move, but not why.. I'm watching more top players and hoping they give some insight into moves, and you certainly do. Much appreciated. I follow Ludvig Hammer too but he tends to trail off into mumbling when he concentrates haha
@RichterVonFuchs
@RichterVonFuchs 3 года назад
Yeah I have the same issue. When it tells me I made a blunder and look it's pretty obvious but when I do an okay move and it tells me another move is better I usually can't tell why it's a better move unless it leads to material or a better position within a few moves. Eric and Levy has been pretty good, doesn't trail off as often as Ludvig does. Good luck fella 1000ish player.

There's no such thing as dirty flag. If you agree to a ten minute game, and you can't checkmate me in 10 minutes, you lose. If you don't like it, don't play 10 minutes. If you're ahead in material, but way down on the clock, I'm no longer playing in a way to win material. I'm playing quickly and defensively to make sure you can't mate me. It's not fair to me if I'm considered "dirty" for playing with the rules we established right at the start.
