I love how Jon pops on screen between Luke and Ellen from time to time like the benevolent god of pokemon to grant friendly reminders and emotional support. I adore these people. They are good for my heart.

I think I got Gloom when they did. I was struggling to remember the name. I could picture it but there was a massive blank space where the name should have been. That said, my knowledge comes strictly from Pokemon Go since I never got into Pokemon when it was popular when I was a kid (grew up in the height of Pokemon mania when my dad, an elementary school principal, was confiscating Pokemon cards all over the place).

This video made me realize I should have got into Pokemon as a kid, but also encouraged me to get my kids into Pokemon. And I just came back after watching "D&D but... it's Pokemon". I love that around 18:20 Ellen describes Crabby as having a pincer but Pinsir wouldn't come to them until several business days later. This is an Oxtra classic!

This video is definitely for someone: it's for me, at least. As someone who was a fan of pokemon back in Gen1 and dropped out of it immediately thereafter (in large part due to my lack of a portable system after the original Gameboy), this was a neat trip down memory lane, working alongside you to try to remember them. If you're curious, the ones I was completely blanking on were the Paras/Parasect (forgot them entirely), Magneton (was convinced it was Magnetite), Pinsir, and Omanyte/Omastar (I was always more interested in Kabuto/Kabutops. There were several others I had a fair bit of trouble with, but those ones were just complete blanks for me.

Rewatching after the 1M video. Amazes me that Ellen said Pinsir way back at 18:13, but Luke was too busy to notice and didn't write it in. And in fairness, she was just riffing on crabs having pincers. But still, ironic that that was the one that busted all three brains for so long.

I tried to do this quiz right before watching the video. I got stuck on a lot of the same ones you did: Pinsir, Paras and Parasect, the Polis, Farfetch'd, Tangela, and (somehow) Psyduck and Golduck. Psyduck is the only one I'm mad at myself at about. Maybe Farfetch'd. The others are so unmemorable.

What I love about these things is that it actually highlights how different pokemon mean more or less to different people, and how so many have attachments to ones you personally might go 'ew, why?' about. Like I did this quiz not too long ago and shelder and cloyster were like two of the four I couldn't remember. And afterwards just went 'yeah no surprise there, why would I?' meanwhile a number of my faves get missed out by people all the time xD Edit: Also cause Pinsir was very far from forgettable to me. But I did, somehow, forget ditto.

I've reached the point where I'm actually invested in the presenters. I care about them. I hope they do okay and would like to help that happen if I can. It's a bit weird, but pulling 24hr shifts while working on deadly stuff for the last 7 years does that to you. I tend to just whack on an OX/OXtra playlist when I'm trying to rest up on a recovery day and just doze through it as a kind of youtube comfort blanket. I think the pandemic will have done this to more people. Saying this as a 27yr old with pretty much no interest in pokémon who still made it through this entire video and enjoyed it.
