Like others have said turning back to Ice King is basically like suicide for Simon, its the easy way out for him to ignore his problems. Simon is just using ice king as an escape. I hope through this adventure he learns to deal with his problems and not run away. I really feel for Simon.
@@Serryy and it fucking sucks lmao (by storytelling standards - we spend an ENTIRE SERIES trying to get Simon back, only for him to commit a su-IceKing-cide?)
The level of trauma Simon has been through is just tragic. Man spent the past 1000 years of his life having been turned into a mad princess kidnapping ice wizard, AND lost his fiancée because of it And now he's going to turn back? Is it so much to ask for him so just be sane AND happy?
Fun fact, in Rebecca Sugar & Adam Muto’s story boards for the first Fiona & Cake episode Fiona wears shorts, & they changed it to the skirt later in production. So I think Prismo giving her shorts this time is a nod to that
Those crows at the end are representative of death. That whole scene in the corn field reminds me one of the last paintings Van Gogh made before he shot himself. It feels like Simon saying "I need to become Ice King again." is either a philosophical suicide or something compared to an artists suicide. Van Gogh was alone. He loved in his outsider kind of way but didn't got reciprocation. Just like how Simon feels out of place and out of time.
I think at the end of that episode they were transported to Farm World. In that universe, Simon died to stop the mushroom bomb, & marceline was left alone & went nuts. I think that’ll make him realize she DOES need him, & will then try to reconnect with his marcy.
Maybe by the end of the series, after adventuring with Fionna and Cake and becoming closer with them, Simon wishes for Fionna and Cake’s universe to be an officially authorised universe in its original form, effectively taking the universe out of his head and part of the connected multiverse - restoring its magic and allowing it to exist alongside everything else with no issues.
I think Simon already used his one Prismo wish in the last ep of Adventure Time, it showed him in Primo's room in the end montage and he tried to wish Betty back, but when Prismo granted it he got a mini basketball hoop instead- aka the wish didn't work (like how Magic Man tried to wish Margles back and got the same result)
Hopefully Simon remembers the reason WHY Betty sacrificed himself. So he can live. Becoming Ice King again is throwing away the life she sacrificed herself for
its super cool to see fiona basically acting like early series finn, shes reckless and violent and assumes that shes in the right to do those things and shes being a hero. i dont know if childish is the right word but thats how it feels, because while fiona is an adult, shes acting the same way finn did when he was 12-13, with very little care for the destruction its causing
I think it's reasonable for Simon to have been avoiding magic when we have multiple confirmations that the only way to use magic will lead to either sadness or madness 100% of the time. Like, there is no way to be magic without also suffering in some way.
I was really sad when I found out the reason why Kumail Nanjiani didn't come back as Prismo in this show. (Kumail's agent rejected the offer to come back, even though he would have actually loved to come back)
More weird theory, yay, one thing that has me intrigue is Simon reacting to Cake humming the mystery song, I think it might be a song Betty use to sing, I'm not sure if it was in Adventure time.
@@thethirdbill I've seen it theorized it might be a song associated with the crown, one only wearers of the crown can hear, which is why he freaked out so bad. Whatever it is, can't wait to learn about it
@@relientlykrazie6011 That makes sense because right after that Simon says that Fionna is just the leftover of Ice King madness so if it is that the last thing to come out of his head was cake after singing the song. though I personly think it is something Betty or Simon sang or hummed when they were together.
Iirc In the episode Beyond this Earthly Realm there is a portal/hole in the spirit realm in Ice King’s basement, meaning the veil between worlds might be weaker there (meaning Cake might be drawn there) Also, Ice King goes on an intense 4th wall breaking monologue about television, once Finn realizes that they can affect the tv static
i love this miniseries' logic. the auditor here reminds me of the auditors in Terry Pratchet's "Hogfather" book in the Discworld series (you can read it as a stand-alone if you want! all you need to know is Grim Reaper has an adopted granddaughter named Susan and that he also has an assistant, and you can read on! or you can watch the movie. the movie is very, very long. and its good! but also so long); the hot-dog glitching reminds me of the Spider-verse; Fionna and Cake with no magic reminds me of Bee and Puppycat (id watch a whole series about Fionna and Cake's non-magical world, ngl); and parts of Simon here reminds me of Amelia from "The Infinity Train" in how she dealt with her grief, idk; and the whole remote control element reminds me of the "Fairy Oddparents" Channel Chasers episode where Timmy and future!Timmy go between different universes via different TV channels. i like all the intertextual references (tho i think "The Hogfather" and MAYBE Channel Chasers are the only intentional ones, i think Pratchett is too legendary and i think "Fairy Oddparents" has too much legacy for either to not be direct inspirations; though i wouldnt be surprised if they were also inspired by "Bee and Puppycat" for Fionna's world's tone and by Amelia of "Infinity Train" for Simon) my only nitpick is Prismo's voice-actor being changed. i know it was a misunderstanding on availability because of a middle-man, but still :( i feel so bad for Kumail Nanjiani :'( i really hope we get a DVD version of this miniseries where he gets to dub over and be Prismo again. i know they did similar with the Genie when Robin Williams agreed to come back and voice him again for Disney i hope youre right that its a compromise where two worlds are available. i like the juxtaposition of Fionna so badly wanting a magic world but being stuck in mundanity, and how Simon wants to be back in a mundane world with Betty but is forced into "weirdo" magic. i dont assume we will be lucky enough to have both get everything they wanted (so tho a portal would be ideal, i think the hot-dog shows why it wouldnt work), but i dont think Simon being the Ice King again is the solution either. i think i personally would find it most cathartic to see Fionna find happiness in mundanity (not settling. just, relatable. i know a lot of kids cried when no Hogwarts letter came when they turned 11, she reminds me of that) and Simon happiness in magic. i dunno. i guess we will just have to wait and see how this miniseries ends. but im excited for more!
my assumption for the series is that simon is gonna learn to see the magic in the world and stop focusing on the past. maybe he'll get betty back??? but honestly i hope not cuz that would kinda ruin her entire sacrifice imo.
I cant believe they payed off the whole “Fionna and Cake were beamed into Ice King’s Brain” thing, the reveal that Prismo was the true creator of Fionna and Cake would’ve felt like a total retcon if not for that one episode.
I'm assuming we're going to get a season 2? I mean I don't see them ending all this in 1 season and with how deep this show seems like its going to be I can't see them wrapping it all up in 10 episodes.
I definitely feel this series is gonna be SUF for Simon. #SimonPetrikovNeedsTherapy Marceline HAS to be a part of this. It's impossible to have a story about Simon without Marceline being important in some way. (Going into trailer spoilers now, so Bill if you're reading and haven't seen the trailers, stop reading) I think Simon meeting an alt universe Marceline that maybe never met that universe's Simon will really strike a chord with him. Help him realize he helped her in more ways than just protecting her with the crown.
It'd be really interesting if they go to the ice kingdom and cake accidentally turns Gunter normal and the crown comes back and Simon can take it??? That'd be cool
It's interesting, but I think it's very unlikely. From the episodes we've seen set 1000 years into Ooo's future, we see that Gunter is still the Ice Thing.
A compromise would be amazing, because it's already baked in. In the finale one of Gunther's gems falls out of his head and he uses it to propose to Turtle Princess. They just need to convince Turtle Princess to let them have it and then maybe just having a third of the curse would be a manageable condition for Simon. Feels like a long shot but that would be really cool, we also know that the one gem by itself is enough to Grant some level of magical power by itself because in the intro to the original finale we saw that Gibbon is ruling over the pup Kingdom using the gem to do some kind of magic
When I think about Simon about becoming the ice king again, for me I also see it ending somewhere in between with Simon embracing it, best of both worlds I guess. like he’s not going to just become the ice king but be something better like a fusion like garnet from Steven universe(???) because in the trailers it showed what looked like Simon playing the piano and having ice powers and stuff. Sorry if this sounds jumbled it’s kinda hard to put these into words 😅😅
I think so far what im loving about Fiona and Cake is that they are now different people. They are no longer just a genderbent finn and jake. They are characters. With their own personalities and flaws. Its nice to see even amongst all the little differences and changes in what is pretty much a "mortal au". It makes me happy. They arent just the character without magic. They are toned down and modified to fit the world
These 2 episodes were so packed with details, I think I'll need to watch the full series a few times to mentally digest (like Golb!). Although I am kind of annoyed about Kumail Nanjiani not returning as Prismo because his manager never told him, he put so much feeling into the character and while the new actor is good, to me it takes away some of the emotional aspects of the character, especially if he is mourning Jake's death. It's like if they replaced Tom Kenny with Billy West as Simon (although now I kind of want to hear what that would sound like lol)
I know this is hard to remember because it was a one-episode-only thing... but we've already seen the Squirrel Guy, in a episode where Finn climbs a big tree to retrieve his Frisbee. Same thing with Prismo's Boss, we've known that Prismo has a "Boss" since the episode "Crossover" in season 7. Some theories say that we already know the identity of Prismo's Boss... in the Finale "Come Along with Me" there is a moment when we get a flashback of Simon learning about Golb from a Book, in the page next to Golb's description there's another Cosmic Entity that we haven't seen in person yet (i don't remember it's name right now), the theories say that could be this mysterious Boss.
I think the banana kot being for sale was a reference to when Finn and Jake had amnesia in hell and they learned that the bananas were like demon earwax.
I've been doing a rewatch of AT cause of Fionna and Cake and also I never got to watch the later seasons of AT and I think the Banana not being for sale is some reference to the Nightosphere, when Finn and Jake got captured there they got put in a cell full of Bananas
I think that the credits sequence is foreshadowing an "it was all a dream" twist, but I trust that it will be done in a satisfying way. It's already been established that dreams have some measure of reality in AT (see also: Puhoy, All The Little People, Prismo's existence, the Fionnaverse starting as Ice King's dream, the Fionnaverse characters dreaming of their magical former selves).
i'm not very happy with the prismo explanation for fionna and cake's existence, idk why i just don't like how they did it but appart from that, this has been a RIDE and i'm totally for it ^^
Well, Ice Queen was never a human and didn't have a "Simon and Marcy" relationship with Marshall to begin with, so her being "Simon from another universe" is discarded. She is the equivalent of a crown owner in Fionna and Cake's universe, but she isn't Simon's genderbend at all.
So, the evil of the lich is inevitable, he is the embodiment of the world destroying evil magic, in ooo but he says something about always existing in the 2nd 'FarmWorld' episode before his hand is cut. When the lich is stuck in Prismo's world & can't 💀 anyone.. He becomes "dormant" I wonder if Simon brings magic back its likely he brings back both the good & evil magic. Think everything between too from Chaotic good (Marsi) to Chaotic evil. (Maja) I'M HERE FOR THIS! 👏🏼 👏🏼 👏🏼 I was insanely hyped for all the easter eggs &... lore?🤔 All my ppo are into B movies, or whatevers 'hip'😂... no one watches animated shows.
I kinda hope the Lich doesn't return, he's menacing but kinda boring. Adventure Time is known for its fun and quirky characters, so a fun and quirky villain like Scarab fits perfectly
hey! i'm a big fan since ur listening to lovejoy days. i recommend listening to car seat headrest albums esp twin fantasy! it's an album about a failing relationship, and I think you'll like it alot! much love!!
My prediction for the end is that the fan that helped Fionna in the second episode will wish for the universe to exist, allowing prismo to remove it from Simon's head and include it with the rest of the universes with no issue.
I’m wondering if the lichs presence in the black and white world forshadow him being the actual bad guy. What if he’s spreading evil throughout the multiverse and that’s where the evil marceline from the trailer comes from
(I've never seen the OG series, so I could be completely wrong) Could Simon not have just wished with Prismo for Fionna and Cake's Universe to be part of the Multiverse. Thus, Proof of Prismo's Illegal world is gone, Simon no longer has a world in his head, and Fionna and Cake aren't illegal
Know your busy with other stuff now, but would be sick to see you react to Panty and stocking or Chainsaw man. Not really the usual kinda stuff you react too, but think something a bit darker would be a nice change of pace. Just a tip tough!
I have a theory for the next episode, not really a theory ig just something i realised the corn fields look like the corn fields from card wars what if there in the card wars game
I haven't seen anybody talk abt why the kid that help Fionna appears in the intro, like it's she important or something?? 😭 (EDIT) taking a better look, maybe it's not her??? idk but i leave it in the table lol
Hi Bill Hope you are feeling better. Long time watcher, first time reaching out; I was wondering if you would be interested in watching the new One Piece live action series? Either way have good day and keep the great vids
Prismo is a jerk who play with life wihout thinking about the consequences. Simon is depressed and want to bei ice king to help and escape is reality . Fionna an cake crave for "adventure in oo" but in the 10 minuste they stays .. they cause a riot in the market attack inncocent citizens .. they are no hero like Finn and jake and dont realize the magical place is full of danger
@@Michaela_ZC jake has his powers because he is half ..(spoiler) .. But why does cake has powers ? I wanted to see her getting those powers in a more natural way that just "POOF you can shapeshift now", the size changing fruits were just a red herring.
It felt a little too easy to me too. I also wish they'd teased the red beam a little more first instead of just rapidly explaining it was Prismo, it felt a little flat after we all wondered about it for years.
I don't know i just feel like you would love to listen to derivakat, she is an amazing artist! If you do listen to her please listen both to her 'tales of the dsmp' album and her newer songs that are part of her next album. I think that the new album might be called anger.
It’s most likely not going to end with Ice King coming back (at least not permanently), but it also might end with Simon getting powers but staying as himself. To early to say.
hey bill i have a music recommendation that i think might be new to the channel (or at least i haven’t seen anyone talk about him before). my current favorite musician is Quadeca, and his most recent album, I Didn’t Mean To Haunt You, is both amazing and right up your alley. quadeca, or ben, is a true youtube gen z-er (i think he’s like 22) who grew up in the youtube rap scene but has branched out over time into some really interesting musical areas like art pop, hyperpop, experimental hip hop production, and whatever the fuck “folktronica” is (he doesn’t know even though google says his album is folktronica, ironically). IDMTHY is a concept album from the point of view of a ghost and basically details the process of grief from the point of view of the deceased, who mourns the fact that they can no longer interact with or make themself known to their living loved ones. it’s honestly stunning sonically and the perfect victim for your style of lyrical analysis
it could be youtube. i get comments like these every so often and sometimes they were held for review (spam or external links) but its usually an error. unless its something truly awful i dont delete comments.
@@thethirdbill No external links from me, maybe they thought it was spam. I was saying, (if youtube allows) I am a big fan, loved your Owl House series. Not sure if you still review other things than animations, but I think you'd really like Good Omens. It is quite short for a series, two seasons (last one just finished, third and last is planned), both seasons are 6 episodes each. It is vimiscal, sweet, romantic and very queer (especially season2). A lot of divisive fan reaction to the season 2 ending. Anyway it is good and I recommend checking out the trailer (the 2nd season trailer isn't spoilerish if you want to check that out too.)
