Trying to Stan: Adventure Time Fionna and Cake Reaction & Breakdown (Episode 7&8) 

With this series it is confirmed that Simon Petrikov is one of the most important pieces of the Adventure Time universe, if he dies or never comes into contact with the crown everything goes straight down the drain.

I hadn't even considered that Baby Finn being stranded in the vampire world could mean that the world now has hope. I was just focused on how much it sucked for Baby Finn. I mean it still does but that glimmer of hope is there.

god the fact that we literally saw the exact moment the lich made his wish to kill everyone on the ice king tape is probably the most eerie thing ive ever seen from a cartoon 😭😭 the way it happened SO fast too. i cant stop thinking about it

The elevator doors closing while Bonnie and Marcy were falling has such finality, great scene choreography.

Since the Lich’s wish wouldn’t affect any robots then I feel really really bad for that universe’s Minerva. She uploaded her mind to a computer so she wouldn’t be affected but all of the humans and other life on the islands would have suddenly and instantly died in front of her leaving her with nothing except for some robots like the island guardian. That’s very messed up.

Even when the Lich wins he loses. He achieved his goals in this universe and yet, without any other motivation, he became as depressed as Simon. Never thought I'd see the freaking Lich be depressed. Still insanely terrifying though.

Something I remembered- Episode 2 Beginning: Marcy: Simon, what would I do without you? Simon: Oh, you'd be just fine, I promise. Better than fine. You're so great, Marceline. Someone else would definitely find you and take care of you. Maybe even someone rich. Yeah, you'd be living in a castle with food and medicine and... I mean I guess it was partly true…

Pretty sure Simon was just a guest speaker and that he's the same/a similar age to Betty. If he was her teacher or way older then they definitely would've brought way more attention to that

I’ve been thinking about that moment where Fionna asks Simon if he went on Betty’s trip to the outback all day. Really puts their relationship in a whole new perspective, Betty uprooted her whole life for Simon and Simon never even considered doing the same. Hope that’s properly acknowledged when they meet Face 2 Face.

Marcy and Bonnie: literally trying to kill eachother Marshall and Gary: making out in a elevator after knowing eachother for two days

My theory is that Fionna and Cake were sent to Betty. My reasoning is that, when Simon was trying to focus on Betty, he inadvertently channeled Fionna and Cake, so it would be the kinda horse piss I love from these writers for him to actually channel Betty when trying to focus on Fionna and Cake.

Also a thing i noticed regarding the Simon Betty storyline, there's a lot kinda hinting about her obsession but also him not taking her expertise as seriously, then in the scene at the bus he is below her, they're at the same height when he said i want you by my side, but immediately following that he puts her down a step.

I wonder if we find out who made the wishes for all these different worlds to exist. We know Farmworld was from Finn, Jerry world from the Lich, baby world confirmed to be from BMO by Steve Wolfhard excited for the last 2 episodes

i think the reason bmo survived in the lich wish universe is that he cant technically die as a robot + based on the way she talks about the lich they might be friends? which is weirdly sweet.

The visualisation of Ice King, and the rest of Ooo, suddenly just being a skeleton is like something out of an analog horror- it's horrific, and exactly what The Lich wanted

Jerry got everything he thought wanted and it wasn't what he hoped. Life sucks if you only have one purpose in it and you achieve that purpose. Also, Martin would have been a good dad in the main universe if he didn't take that blow to the head fighting the Guardian.

On Finn's dad: a lot of his problems in the og series can be attributed to brain damage that warped his personality after fighting the guardian of the islands, chances are he would've been a great dad had that not happened

I think the series has made clear that Simon is good for the world but needs to find his own value, when he was Ice king he wanted the love of a princess more than anything to feel validated, and now Simon is not much diferent, he felt worthless and felt as Betty was the solution for it, and we already knew Betty gave too much away of herself for Simon, when it comes to those two, I think this will be their final goodbye

These episodes hurt so much. Evil Marcy has the best outfits I've ever seen the show she is just a delight to look at every time she is on screen. But how dare they give us a heroic emotionally supportive version of Martin only to have him brutally murdered by everyone's favorite hot goth waifu, I mean it's how I want to go out but still. Also I had to take a break after BMO died so I didn't even notice how jarring it was to get that sentimental love scene between Simon and Betty. But yeah if you watch it without pausing that's kinda rough. Maybe they thought we wouldn't be so affected by it because it's an alternate universe but no watching BMO's face blow-off hurt and I could have used a bit longer to mourn before we move on to the conclusion of the love story. On that note though I'm pretty confident the love story is going to be the moral of the show. Simon has to get on the bus. He's either going to have to accept that Betty has moved on past where he can follow or he's going to have to go with her. I could totally see this ending with Simon and Betty on some kind of cosmic journey together

We did see the Lich do the Thanos snap. It’s when he went to Prismo and wished everything was dead

I like to think that PB and Marcy didn’t die at the end. Not that Fiona, Cake, and Simon aren’t interesting, but I’m more invested in the toxic trash fire of a relationship they have going on.

These two episodes were a dagger to the gut when I wanted a gut punch. Seeing a dead Simon with multiple bite marks on his body. Seeing countless deaths of characters we know by the hands of someone with the face of a loved one. Over cut to a beautiful love story between two men trying to find their way. And then, to find ourselves back in the universe that the Lich wished for back 11 years ago. One could even consider this to be, the original timeline. Where all time has stood still for non are there to perceive it aside from a old and tired Chaos God, and the Litch. Only for the Chaos God to give one final act of service.

The season finale of season 4/ start of season 5, the Lich made a wish in Prismo’s timeroom to end all life. Obviously, Jake fixed everything with his wish, but like with Finn’s Farmworld, the Lich’s wish world continued to exist. Everyone died instantly, and what feels weird to me, is that basically everyone was left as they were pre season 5. So many characters grew and bonded throughout the series, and in this world, the basically we robbed of all those experiences. It kinda messed with my the entire rest of the day, and I didn’t get to sleep well that night

So Simon and Betty's relationship gains a bit more clarity altho Im hesitating and waiting for the final episode to get the full picture Simon is very passive and Betty always takes the lead. Which leads to Betty running wild with her insecurities about their relationship because Simon was happy to follow her lead but Simon also never took initiative in their relationship - Betty confesses first, Betty drops everything for him, and Simon also believes in her so much that he doesn't question her decision to do so Also a few things, the remote was straight up broken - it didn't need a new battery like a new jewel, it needed to be straight up remade Simon likely had no plans to return - once he put the Crown back on, he was just gonna hang in a dead world with the Lich Also we have now seen 4 instances of Dead Simon - death flag? hahaha Common theory is Golb as the final boss

There's something weirdly messed up that the universe with the best outcome is the one where Simon loses the love of his life as well as his marbles. Like this man just wants to find a solution where he's sane, happy, his wife is with him, and everything is generally happy and safe in the world, but it turns out that if any of those first three things are in-effect, either the world inevitably goes to shit or he somehow dies, sometimes it's both.

My wild theory for episodes 9 and 10 is that the Lich wasn't depressed but waiting for an opportunity. What if Betty's wish to keep Simon safe is further reaching than we expected. What if the wish she made prevented the Lich from being able to destroy other universes. Hear me out, the Lich here obviously succeeded but we know this to be the OG Lich who made the wish at prismo's place in adventure time to kill all life. That means his killings here would've occurred way before Betty's wish BUT look at how all the other universes have yet to be destroyed despite the fact we see evidence the Lich is roaming amidst them. What if by making the wish to protect Simon, that means the Lich cannot kill life because in doing so it'd indirectly lead to killing or harming Simon. If that were to be the case, how would the Lich change that? The Lich would need to take out the OG wish maker and make a wish himself. Did the Lich purposely open a portal to Golb so that he could get rid of Betty's wish and destroy all life? Furthermore, bonus theory: What if because Fionna and Cakes world is separate and hidden among the universes it is the only universe to not have it's own Lich? What if the entirety of life itself is relying on Fionna and Cakes world as the only untouched universe. Could the Lich also be attempting to access the final universe he has yet to get to? Is he going to enter Fionna and Cakes world?

As a gay person I love me some toxic doomed yuri, and evil Marcy’s design fucks so hard, not to mention butchblegum. I also really like getting to see the conflict in Fionna now that she actually gets to see what Simon was like, very curious what will happen to their world, and of course what will come of Simon presumably meeting with golb sometime in these upcoming episodes

Interesting fact about Scarab Daddys VA, Scarab is voiced by a woman who has amazing vocal range. You should look into her she has a great voice reel.

thinking about how the world where all life is dead was our original world from Adventure time BEFORE Finn was tricked by the Litch to assemble the gems for the Enchiridion is.....honestly so scary to think about. we knew that BMO, and that Ice King, those were OUR characters we fell in love with. and now they're ALL dead. wild

BMO wasnt snapped because he isnt concidered a lifeform. The Lich is connected to Golb, yes, he calls himself "the last scholar of Golb" in the episode "Whispers" I think the reason why the red portal with Golb's shapes appeared was because the combined throught of Betty and him being hooked uo to THE LICH was enough to actually make a substancial connection between Simon and Golbetty which is just... wow.

33:20 I actually think that Golb was summoned because of Betty’s wish at the end of Come Along With Me, Simon putting on the crown is probably something that she would not deem “safe,” not to mention Scrabby was literally about to kill him. Thoughts of Betty might have played a part in Golb’s summoning, but how that summoning even works is pretty vague so idk.

For anyone that believes the lich to be depressed here, I doubt he even can considering how we know him to function, It's just like when he was stuck in the Time Room, he's simply inactive until he sees a chance to move somewhere with more life. If you think about the situation like the Lich here when you see the trio you really only see two options: 1- You already know you killed this entire universe so they'll just die relatively quickly even if you don't do anything. 2- You already know you killed this universe, therefore the 3 must be from another universe, so letting them go while they make a way to reach more life is more effective. Again, literally what he did in the time room, there were a lot of people coming in and out of that room, some which stated they were afraid of the lich's power, but he waited specifically for a chance at getting to the Citadel so he could get stronger minions to make his universal genocide faster. He's not still due to a lack of purpose, he's still so he can wait for the next optimal route to more entropy.

I’m so stressed out and worried as well, but this show knows their audience and wants good things for this world, I’m sure they know how to wrap it up nicely

I keep going back to Fionna and Cake's de-magic-ifying effect that they seem to have in these worlds when they get too emotional. It's the same effect we see at the end of Adventure Time, when Golb is consuming Simon, Betty, and Finn. Are they an extension of Golb, and of Betty by proxy? Also, it's TV14, so I wouldn't expect much more than the kiss. But... I wouldn't rule out a "they clearly slept together" scene. Maybe that's where Fionna and Cake re-emerge in Simon's mind.😂

BMO was spared because he is a computer & technically not classified as Life. By that logic NEPTR would’ve also been around somewhere but isn’t it just like Adventure Time to forget him. On a side note, has sane Simon ever interacted with NEPTR? I wonder what that would entail?

One of the most horrible realizations I've had about this show is in relation to how Fionna & Cake's universe adapts to Simon's mental state. This on its own is not horrible, in fact it is quite interesting. But then I thought about episode 1, its intro. And the lyrics. I'm not really feeling like my self today. Hated every job I've had, what's wrong with me? Every day's the same; Painfully mundane. 'Cuz I'm running from my feelings and my fear of sudden change. Every time I leave my room, I wanna die. Even when I'm with my friends, I'm alone inside. 'Cuz nothing really matters, and I don't know what's sadder, The fact I even try or that my hopes and dreams are shattered? I'm not really feeling like my self today. This song wasn't about Fionna and Cake feeling 'blah' about their world, which is what I'd originally figured. It is directly stating how Simon feels/thinks. Someone please give this traumatized old man a hug, a blanket, and some peppermint-flavored hot chocolate, because this is horrible. Simon, at least in episode 1, genuinely didn't want to be alive anymore. As one of the most accurate and disturbing portrayals of this kind of thing, now when I see Simon and how he wants to put the crown back on, it feels worse than bad. In the ritual he did with the Lich, he was expecting those to be his final moments as Simon, focusing on his happy memories (as most people would). Putting on the crown appears to be treated identically to death in the show. When you put on the crown, you begin to die, and the visage of Evergreen takes your place. Putting on the crown kills Simon. He will either die as Ice King or as a decaying Simon. If being touched by the crown's curse means the bearer will inevitably die, then it makes sense that Betty's wish protects him from wearing it. It's like getting himself purposefully bitten by a cobra.

I have been saying this since the Prismo episode, but they could get the little girl, Astrid, to make her wish to be Fionna and Cake's universe to become authorized and not in Simon's head anymore! With Golbetty, I honestly don't want them to unfuse. I want there to be a bittersweet ending of Fionna and Cake getting their universe, Simon becoming better and actually talking with Betty, but Betty not actually being there. I want Simon to move on with his new support group. I want a happy ending, but with just a twist of sadness because Betty can not be unfused from Golb. It might just be because I'm a sicker for a bittersweet ending.

I was SO happy to see Fionna and Simon FINALLY bond. Fionna frowning after seeing the tape upon hearing Simon mention the crown again... Simon realising his story is what calmed Fionna down before, so he contiues it when shes at her lowest... And Fionna and Cakes friendship too!!! So good...

All the high powered vampires from Stakes were named after tarot cards. The Star is one too. Also when Fionna was looking at the drum set that was her looking for the crown. Ice king said he put it there before he died after all.

1. They left baby finn alone in the vampire world 2. Back in episode 2 simon says to young marcy if he wasnt around shed be fine and that someone would probably find her and take care of her, someone with a lot of food and a mansion. And its amazing he was right. The vampire king found her and raised her in a mansion with endless blood to eat. Its amazing simon feels bad for giving her too little but he honestly gave her so much more

I like to think that Bubbline from vampire world are ok, and all other vampires and the VK are defeated, and they adopt baby Finn. Thats my Copium.

At least that’s what I thought is happening

i gotta say that the "enemies to enemies" trope is one of my favorites. and the star did it *really* well. something about how obsessive hatred can be seen as a messed up form of love (especially when it comes to fictional sworn enemies) which can maybe be tied into simon and betty's relationship. it's just the way characters obsess over each other. simon was so obsessed with betty that it became like, one of his sole personality traits through layers of magic and madness. betty was so obsessed she summoned Cthulhu. alt-universe pb and marcy are so obsessed that they've potentially been doing their song and dance for centuries. and then they die. and so far, we've seen every alternate simon die, so... uh, that might be foreshadowing. anyways, love your content! we're going to get absolutely destroyed in episode 9!!

I thought it was the Lucy’s wish world in episode 8, so BMO was spared since he isn’t “alive” in a sense, but rather mimicking life and therefore was spared from the extinguishing of all life.

also, as much as i LOOOVE this show so much and how they went about making it......am i the only one who really wants like a 'slice of life' style show centered around the normal F&C world? the first ep was so aesthetically pleasing, i could have watched an entire series just about these wacky friends making it through life.

These 2 episodes were as dark as they were weirdly funny and just perfect. I have a lot of mixed feelings about Simon and Betty's relationship now though (and where I think this series is headed). It's interesting too, that Betty and chaos have always been seen to go together, which leads to more thoughts about Betty-Golb. I'm not sure how I feel about the student/professor relationship thing either, and the actual reality of how Simon and Betty ended up together. Maybe I'm too sensitive and seeing things that aren't there, but something felt off to me.

It was said in the episode, and was said a couple times in the original series, but The Lich is known as "The Last Disciple of Golb" so that explains the connection, and The Lich being used as the battery to fuel the portal almost definitely was the cause of the portal (seemingly to Golb). I suspect we'll get a "Betty" reunion, but I doubt it will be what Simon originally wants, but it is what he currently needs. I think it'll be about Betty telling Simon that she only wants to keep him safe (maybe by doing some fucked up shit to Scarab, maybe through words, personally I think it'll hit harder if she can't even speak to him anymore). I loved these episodes so much, the parallels between the worlds are getting closer and closer, so my far-flung theory is perhaps a merger? Where Fiona and Cakes universe is brought into the main universe, getting rid of the rogue universe, therefore freeing Prismo, bringing people like Simon into the main universe while also giving Fiona a magical world. Unfortunately I think Simon dying is more likely, potentially at the hands of Scarab, and since it's in front of Golbetty it goes crazy. Part of me wants the final episode to actually be a faux-epilogue, where we see the outcome of the second to last episode. In any case loved the video!

With the lich being the last follower or scholar of golb (who is now partially Betty wanting to still protect Simon), maybe it does play a part as to why the lich just stops after all life in that universe is gone.

I think we did see the Litch's thanos snap but it was in Adventure Time bc I'm pretty sure the universe episode 8 takes place in is the universe that was created when Jake undid The Litch's Prismo wish. It didn't take them back to the universe they were in exactly the way it was, but rather took us to an alternate universe where the litch wished Finn and Jake could go home (or whatever it was) instead. It's devastating to think that the characters from the beginning of season 5 and on aren't the exact characters we had been watching for 4 seasons, but it's even more devastating to think that episode 8 is :(. Anyways I'm gonna go cry for 10 hours straight.

I wonder if Betty's wish when she put on the crown has more to do with Simon being transported to her than just him thinking about her since her wish was specifically to protect Simon and the Scarab was literally about to chop his head off before he was saved by being transported! Another idea I can't help but to think about is if, to preserve his sanity, Simon does what the Winter King did and project his madness unto someone else, perhaps the Scarab? But maybe he's too nice for that. Will he decide to stay crazy with Betty forcing her to keep her wish to protect him by guarding him while he stays as the ice king forever? I have a couple of thoughts on how it might play out but I doubt I can think of anything that will emotionally prepare me for the next episode... I cant waiiiitt

I want to watch Fionna and Cake more and more when I found out that Orbo is voiced by David McCormack who I love from Bandit's is just amazing his voice is exactly the same as in Bluey!!!!!!!!And your reaction to his voice is exactly the same as mine😂😂😂😂😂😂

I was pretty sure this whole time the Lich was related to Golb, since he refered to himself as "the last scholar of GOLB". And what allowed him to go to betty, was not only the thought of her, 'cause he also had that before, but the fact that now his batery was directly connected to her (or better, GOLB). I was annalyzing the every frame of the intro afternoticing that possibly every episode was refered into it (found out just farmworld wasnt really).and what picked me up that I think is a ref to those last 2 eps a the beggining of the opening, after the FIona, baby Finn and prime Finn running, we got a shot of the three: it is somewhat big but not as much as in the end of come along with me, Finn sword is already on top of fit, and all the surroudings are a complet mess. Weirdly this scenes glitches but don't change (which goes against the rest of the intro, that aways changes the scene after a glitch), then we got a zoom in in the roots of the three, which for me feels older (way more details and a sudden change of the color pallet to more desaturated, grass arround it seens bigger, sky is now extremly cloudy), then it cuts to Fionna's apprt, than it quickly glitches, her appartment now destroyed for very few frames, and even less frames, the glitch turns everything redish and on frame 2 there's already a big torn thro the screen, that kinda feels like GOLBetty sillouete. I belive this is a ref to those last 2 eps setting. There will be GOLBetty interferance, the other universes, FIonna's Universe, will be affected.
