Karma is probably one of my favorite songs from AJR. It kinda hurts a bit because of how relatable it is, but man when I’m driving alone I blast the hell out of that song and scream along to every single line. There’s something about the energy plus the lyrics that’s just so reassuring and releasing about singing along to it. I love the way ARJ constantly breaks the 4th wall in their music and they always manage to write relatable songs with strange funky beats I’ve never heard in pop music before. They’re like a hyper and sarcastic version of twenty one pilots. Thank you for giving them a try!

the guy that says “here we go” in bang and some other things too is actually a guy that drives a subway car thing and they recorded him saying it for their song (with his permission). he’s a really sweet old guy

For me I took the lyrics of Weak as a struggle between what's good for you vs what feels good. I like the line in the chorus that goes "But I'm weak and what's wrong with that/ boy oh boy I love it when I fall for that". Like he's saying that it's ok to be weak in the first line but the second line adds a little depth when he describes how he's lying to himself. Like he knows there is something wrong with being weak but he loves it when he "falls for that" because he tricks himself into allowing himself to do all these bad things (one sip, one hit, one kiss). I took it less as a "keep trying" lyric and more of a "be wary of when you lie to yourself". Anyway that's just my two cents.

When I saw them live, Jack described the sound of Karma as a "happy panic attack"... and got damn is that accurate. The spiraling ending gets me every time. Also, if you ever want to listen to more of their stuff, I would recommend Turning Out (pt. 1 and 2) and The Finale (Can't Wait to See What YOu Do Next), It's On Us, Normal and Dear Winter. PS: Thank you for wonderful and positive videos.

If you do a part 2, I'd love for you to look at any of the songs in the Maybe Man album (particularly "Inertia", "Yes I'm a Mess", and "Hole in the Bottom of My Brain") but also I recommend "Sober Up", "I'm Not Famous", and "Birthday Party" :)

I would not complain about a part 2 👀 AJR honestly already has one of the most quality catalogs of music to me, it would be great to see your reactions to some more of their stuff! I really think you should listen to their albums, The Click and Neotheater both have kind of interesting overall themes that you would have fun analyzing lol. The Click (interesting songs) Overture, The Good Part, Sober Up, Turning Out, Call My Dad, Netflix Trip, Come Hang Out Neotheater Next Up Forever, 100 Bad Days, Dont Throw Out My Legos, Turning Out Pt II, The Entertainments Here, Dear Winter, Finale I love every song on Neotheater I tried not to pick every song lmao Dear Winter,

Oh he got off the train! ... Oh no he got off the train. I'm not gonna lie, that made me laugh harder than it should've. Gosh I was so happy Karma was on here. It's one of my favorite songs by them...plus it just. It hits so hard. (A friend of mine mentioned that it's very much a...he's talking to a therapist and the very end kinda is the...just...spilling everything if that makes sense.) I'd also just as a whole recommend Neotheater. It's such a great album (and Beats kinda has a similar vibe to Bang)! Don't Throw Out My Legos hits in another way of just...the feeling of growing up. 100 Bad Days is also so ding dang good...and Birthday Party is hopeful but also kinda sad because of implications on it. Other songs too like Bud Like You is just catchy as hell and I'm Ready is an old one from them, but I adore it just 'cause of the silly Spongebob reference in it, heh. AJR is kinda my favorite band I've found in recent years, just like. They've got such a great sound and they have a range of both happy fun songs and sad but still upbeat songs. And the lyrics are legit so good.

Fun fact: in the song "bang", the narrator that goes "here we go" and "metronome" is actually the voice you hear on the NYC subway, like the guy who tells you what stop is next , apparently that guy was a fan of ajr and the band decided to put him in this song. (i could be wrong but I'm pretty sure about this)

Karma is almost always relatable and that album has Easter egg connections between songs. The earlier albums had overtures where they mixed the songs on the album together. In Neotheater they did these Easter eggs instead.

I've seen them two times (very awesone. especially the neotheatre tour oh my GOD it was so.. genius and crazy what they did) i feel like ajr are the kind of guys who will try not to have very expensive concert tickets even when they get bigger. i think tickets were like $20 then which was really awesome.

Please continue to listen to AJR!!! Especially "No Grass Today", "Role Models", "Dear Winter", and "I'm Not Famous". Honestly, any AJR song. Also, you haven't listened to this genre a lot but try to stan Julie and the Phantoms (a netflix show but it's a musical so there are a lot of songs). The songs are incredible, especially "Unsaid Emily"!

Karma is a song I always find myself going back to listen to, it’s upbeat but makes me emotional as well :) I find it comforting that others are out there trying their best but not feeling their best, it’s not something I wish others to feel but it’s nice to know that I’m not the only one who feels stuck and not enough even when I’m trying my hardest. Sorry for the ramble, but Karma is an important song to me. I hope who ever reads this feels content with their actions and satisfaction in their life, good luck out there

I’d really recommend “Next Up Forever” and “Finale (Can’t wait to see what you’ll do next)”. They are the first and last songs of the Neotheatre album and I can say that I got legit chills hearing them for the first time!
