Lemon boy is supposed to symbolize any sort of negative mental illness. Basically in the beginning when people develop depression or anxiety it can affect how their social life is and how they think and everything is negative but as time goes on, you learn to just exist with these illnesses and learn to cope and handle them Edit: WOAH thanks for the likes!

Cavetown is the artist I listen to when I feel very anxious or sad because it makes me feel at peace in a way, it has a very soothing sound and the lyrics are still deep as hell, it makes me feel safe and I love his voice so much I can't really express how much I love him

I saw cavetown in February and let me tell you; they have such a homely, safe atmosphere and their music is only part of that. Robbie is such a genuine person and talented songwriter 🥺🥺 definitely one of the best live performances I’ve seen

I listen to Robbie's songs regularly and whenever I listen to hard I always breaking the tears so I tend to just listen on outside level but I always listen regularly sometimes I just listen to it to wake up sometimes it's just what I need to do to get moving for the day honestly I've been listening to CaveTown since 2015 if he ever comes to the U.S. again i will cry and go so fast my own head will spin.

robbie is one of the nicest people ive ever met. not only is he an amazing musician, but hes super sweet in real life

To me Lemon Boy is a song about depression or anxiety. That might not be it but it's a comforting song to me for that sense. I'll explain why: The lyric "he was playing in my garden and I pulled him out by his hair, like a weed, and like weeds do he only came and grew back again" symbolises the time I realised I was falling back into my dark times (as I refer to them) and my initial fight to get rid of that, but the fact is that I can't escape it because it only ever keeps coming back- like a weed that I can't get rid of. Then the line "and soon his bittersweet started to rub off on me" resembles the fact that I find it so hard to look for the positive things anymore, and that the joy and sweetness I used to have when I was littler is being swapped with a negative view on everything that's been caused by my depression. The ending can also be related to that. No longer seeing the beauty in our world, since to me it just isn't worth living in it if my mind is in a state like this, and if it will just die off anyway. Then about the friends who "don't like compromising with a nice lemon pie", in my head this relates to the time periods where I isolate myself from my friends because I don't want things to be even harder on them when I leave. Also, the feeling that they don't care about you because none of them ever check if you're ok anymore, no one wants to spend time with you because of the fact your depression takes such a firm grasp on you that you find it hard to be happy and energetic (like the friend you once were). They don't want to spend any time with someone who's so miserable. Then when it starts saying about "help him plant his seeds" and "we've just got to get along together" it reminds me a lot of when I keep things to myself which causes me to in some way 'accept' what's happening and therefore help the illness root itself even further. Henceforth helping the weed plant it's seeds. The line "but what if I run out of fertiliser" makes me think of all the times I've been teetering on the edge of kms but then stopped because of the little things keeping me alive, and the fear I have of if one day those aren't enough, or if I run out of the things that keep me going. So running out of my own fertiliser. Then the end, like I said earlier might be about the negative view of everything.

yes yes yes omg THANK YOU!! i LOVE cavetown I've been listening to robbie for years his music has helped me through a lot of tough times and i just. love his sound and lyrics. and i got to see him a few months back with some friends and it was such a chill concert i loved it sm would absolutely see him again!! he's such a genuinely good and nice person. also he is Very cute haha congrats on 70k man you deserve it ♡ also big love for the moomins ref in lemon boy lmao this is home was the song i found him through and it means a looott to me there's so many versions of devil town which is awesome. robbie has said that his songs are never finished he wants to/likes to come back to them. I don’t think you’ve done this yet but Jon bellion, not very known other than his hit song All time low, but other songs such as Guillotine, Stupid Deep, Blu, or Human have deep places in my heart. He has a very deep message in each song that isn’t that hard to find but still satisfying when you find it. He’s very audible when it comes to his songs: whether that’s using his voice as drums, or other fun little things you can enjoy when listening. It was just a thought but very underrated artist. Hope you see this and love your content man, keep going at it!

Idk if this is coincidence or not but devil town has some lines that corresponds to the movie Spirited away. Like, "I forgot ky name again, I think that's something worth remembering" like how chihiro "forgot" her name cuz it got stolen. And the chorus seems like chihiro talking to haku with the "hold my hand tight" and all that. Some other lines are "mom and daddy aren't inlove" which, most likely is the case with chihiro's parents considering all they wantis gobble up food. Idrk this might be a reach lmao

With this is home the way I personally interpreted it is this. The vocals are a child in the hospital dying of cancer. I got this is because the things like these; “I’m a little sick right now”, the cancer “I’ll cut my hair”, maybe it is falling out due to chemo “there are too many colors, enough to drive all of us insane”, maybe they needed to give weed because they never ate and had too much, “sometimes I think I’m dead, cause I can feel ghosts and ghouls wrapping my head”, maybe they are feeling out of it “I don’t want to fall asleep just yet”, They dont want to die “my eyes went dark”, maybe the actual death “get a load of this monster, he doesn’t know how to communicate, his mind is in a different place”, maybe a coma patient, and “get a load of this train wreck, his hair is a mess and he doesn’t know who he is yet”, maybe someone with amnesia. This is just how I interpreted the song

what I think deviltown is about: the child's parents abused her so she grew up in a Orthanige. Every night all of the kids snuck out of the Orphanige and chilled out on a hill. They did this every night until the friend group split up due to people moving Orphanige. But two kids stayed. they became best friends. One day they went to the hill again untill one of them said "we should jump of" ("you said something dumb again"). Someone over heard that and reported it to the orphanige. The owner got mad ("shes mad"). So everybody in the town keeped on shouting out them that shes mad ("thats what they say") so they went back to the orphanige instead and snuck into their beds.This caused social anxiety with both of them ,But they can handle it ("nothings gonna scare us now"). One day, they were watching tv and they saw "abuser brought a car" they knew it was hers ("daddy brought a new car now") so they got in contact this her dad, and they said "go to the orphanige at 2:00am so we can k*ll our self without getting caught" ("no ones gonna catch us now") so at 2:00am they both hopped in and went to to hill. the dad left. but then they didnt wanna k*ll them selfs so they ran down the hill untill the wind pulled them at the top of the hill and pushed one of, the over one had to jump too, so they both holded hands and hung from the hill ("im less scared of falling when I know that your falling the same way to") and then they died. *BTW THIS IS PROBALY NOT WHAT HAPPEND THIS IS JUST MY THOUGHTS*

I completely understand your reaction to “This is Home”, that was the first Cavetown song I ever heard and finally got to see him preform it live a couple months back.
